英国は、軍需産業が主要産業の一つとなっており、世界のどこかで戦争が続き、武器の需要が強まることが国益につながります。戦争終結に手を貸すロシアが憎くてたまりません。

Report: UK Intel Claims Russia Aims to Make Libya "New Syria" to Pressure West
TEHRAN (FNA)- UK intelligence agencies told Prime Minister Theresa May that Moscow wanted to "turn Libya into a new Syria" in order to take control of migration flows and flood Europe with refugees, thus increasing its influence on the West, according to a report.

The Sun newspaper alleged, citing a high-ranking source in the British government, that Moscow supported Khalifa Haftar, "supplying his troops with heavy equipment".

According to the publication, dozens of officers from Russian military intelligence service GRU and its special forces are already deployed in Eastern Libya, "initially carrying out training and liaison roles".

The newspaper claimed that two Russian military bases were already operating in the coastal cities of Tobruk and Benghazi, using Russian private military company Wagner Group as a cover for their activities.

The publication also wrote, without providing sources and proof, that "Russia's devastating Kalibr anti-ship missiles and state-of-the-art S-300 air defence missile systems are also now believed to be on the ground in Libya".

"It's is extremely alarming Russia wants to open up a new front against the West in Libya, but it should also come as no surprise. They will without a doubt try to exploit migration routes across Africa," the chairman of the UK parliament's lower house's Foreign Affairs committee, Tom Tugendhat, told the UK government in a statement, as quoted by the publication.

Tugendhat urged Downing Street to ensure a coordinated response, saying that the Libyan issue was linked to UK national security.

The lack of the single central government and army in Libya resulted in the surge of trafficking activities and the development of militant groups and terror organizations in the country. Libya is also the major gate for migrants from all of the Northern Africa, which attempt to cross the Mediterranean and settle in Europe, which became one of the main reasons of the European migration crisis in recent years.

After long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown in 2011, Libya descended into civil war and control of the country is now divided between two rival entities. The UN-recognized Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) controls the country's Western part, while its Eastern regions are governed by the elected parliament backed by the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by military commander Khalifa Haftar.

Russian Embassy in UK: Moscow Doesn't Plan to Create Stronghold in Libya
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian Embassy in London on Tuesday refuted reports claiming that Moscow was allegedly plotting to get control over European immigration routes in Libya and establish a stronghold against the West.

"This publication has nothing to do with reality. We are treating it as a new attempt to shift the responsibility for the ruined country and destroyed lives of millions of Libyans on Russia which had no relation to the 2011 NATO military intervention which grossly violated the whole range of UN Security Council resolutions," a representative of the embassy told reporters, Sputnik reported.

The embassy added that Russia supported peacemaking efforts in Libya and never planned any military intervention.

"We fully respect the UN Security Council Resolution 1970 which imposed an arms embargo on Libya," the mission representative said.

On Monday, The Sun reported that the UK intelligence had warned UK Prime Minister Theresa May of Moscow's alleged plans to send weapons and troops to Libya to turn it into "new Syria" and take control of migration routes to Europe thus increasing Moscow's influence on the West.

Russia calls for the parties to the Libyan conflict to engage in a constructive dialogue on political settlement as the only way to end the crisis, the embassy concluded.

Libya has been in turmoil since the overthrow of its long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The country is divided between two governments, with the Eastern part controlled by the Libyan National Army and the Western part governed by the UN-backed Government of National Accord of Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj.

Libya is also the major gate for migrants from all of the North Africa attempting to cross the Mediterranean and settle in Europe.
