IMPORTANT: Iranian media, Fars News, catches footage of protest infiltrators in diffferent provinces wearing the same outfits, destroying public property and government symbols.
All of whom are wearing white hoodies and some who are wearing masks.

Armed Forces Spokesman: US Plotting New Sedition in Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Chief of Staff and Spokesman of Iran's Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri lashed out at US President Donald Trump for his support for protests in Iran, warning of Washington's new plots.

"The support rendered by the highest-ranking official of the US regime along with a number of governments and arrogant powers' media, including the BBC, to the rioters indicates that the US has plotted to foment a new sedition in Iran but it will bring nothing but humility and failure for the enemies of the Islamic Revolution," General Jazzayeri said.

He warned that Iran will use its right to reciprocate the enemies' hostile moves in a way that they will regret their deeds.

The Iranian foreign ministry had also on Saturday strongly deplored the recent comments by Trump and State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert in support of the recent economic protests in Iran, describing them as "cheap, worthless and invalid".

"The Iranian people feel no value for the opportunistic claims of the US officials and Mr. Trump, himself," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said.

"Certainly, the great Iranian nation has closely pursued Mr. Trump's active partnership in violating the Palestinian, Yemeni and Bahraini people's human rights" and remember his hostile approach towards Iranians' visit to the US, he added.

"The US officials are not in a position to show sympathy with the great and wise Iranian nation," Qassemi said.

Trump and Nauert had tweeted in support of the recent economic protests in a number of Iranian towns.

Trump has refused to re-certify a 2015 deal between Tehran and world powers that curbed Iran's disputed nuclear program in return for a lifting of most international sanctions. Washington has so far violated the deal with regard to its undertakings.

The mainstream media in the West has given a wide coverage to the Friday economic protests in a few Iranian towns that each comprised of a few hundred protesters, but none has covered the massive pro-government rallies held in more than 1,200 cities and towns on Saturday.

The US knows that it cannot topple the Iranian government with protests that are incomparably smaller than the riots that engulfed Iran following the 2009 presidential elections, Khoshcheshm said. He added that western media outlets – and even Trump himself – “are trying hard… to politicize” and exaggerate the issue.

Meanwhile, Al-Burai explained that the Iranian protests are in fact economic rather than political in nature. “The middle class, who took to the streets, are asking for more economic reforms, asking for more jobs and employment, [for] better standards of living,” he said, adding that the demonstrators are essentially not interested in any escalation or political unrest that Trump hopes so much to see in Iran.

He also pointed out that the political force behind the protests could be far from what the US president expects. In his tweets, Trump repeatedly said that Iranians “are fed up with corruption” and are “hungry… for freedom,” which would imply a sort of western-style freedom.

However, it may actually turn out that the protests are driven by Iran’s hardliners and Islamic conservatives, who are challenging the presidency of Rouhani, who is considered a “moderate” politician in the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian city of Mashhad is one of the places where the protests initially started. Al-Burai explained that it is actually a “stronghold of Rouhani’s major competitor” at the last presidential elections, Ebrahim Raisi. Raisi is the son-in-law of the Mashhad Friday prayer leader and Grand Imam of Imam Reza shrine, Ahmad Alamolhoda.

The politician also enjoys the support of the Iranian conservative circles. He advocates gender segregation and even sees sanctions imposed against Iran as a sort of opportunity. Notably, fighting corruption and creating jobs were his major election promises during the last presidential campaign.

In the meantime, the US seems to pay no attention to the real situation on the ground. On Monday, US Vice President Mike Pence promised full support to the Iranian protesters by saying, “We must not and we will not let them down.”
