Our sources on the ground report that the last two helicopters trying to evacuate foreign VIPs from Mariupol were shot down this morning. They were sent on a suicide mission to collect Lt.General Coultier, who was, we are told, hiding in a huge industrial complex with some Special Forces staffers and about 30 Ukrainian Army, not Azov, soldiers. On the morning of April 5, another attempt by the Kiev regime to evacuate the leaders of the Azov nationalist battalion and “others” was thwarted near Mariupol. Two Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters, which tried to break through to the city from the sea, were shot down from man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems, Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, said at a briefing.

Note that this is the third attempt by Kyiv to pull its war criminals from the crime scene. But it ended the same as the previous ones: the helicopters did not reach Mariupol.

A letter to the Pentagon sent a few hours ago went unanswered, which, from a media perspective, is very unusual. If the message had been false, the Pentagon would have denied it immediately. They did NOT deny it. But there has been no official response from the Pentagon as of 6:10 p.m. EDT on Monday.

The Nicaraguan authorities are to cover 70% of the increase to keep high prices at bay
The government of Nicaragua announced on Friday that it would not be hiking fuel prices, despite the surge on global markets amid the crisis in Ukraine.

Instead, the authorities will absorb 70% of the gasoline and diesel price increase, while leaving the prices on liquefied petroleum gas without any adjustment, as the latter is critical for most Nicaraguan families, who use it to prepare food.

The measure is intended to keep consumer prices on those fuels at a manageable level and to lessen the impact of the global fuel price hike on the domestic household economy.

Spain sees highest inflation in nearly 40 years
The government says the Ukraine crisis is to blame
Inflation in Spain rose by 9.8% in March compared to the same month last year, according to preliminary data published by the National Statistics Institute on Wednesday.

The rise in the consumer price index is the highest since May 1985, and the provisional figure for this month is more than two percentage points above the rate registered in February, the statistics office said, adding that inflation was driven by hikes in the price of electricity, fuel, food, and alcoholic beverages.

“73% of the inflation can be explained by the runaway prices of energy and food staples, which have been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine,” Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez told the parliament.

On Tuesday, the Bank of Spain called the March inflation reading “particularly negative” and “a very significant uptick.”

The country’s core inflation, which does not take into account price changes in volatile areas like food and energy, also hit 3.4% in March – the fastest annual increase since 2008.

中国、H10N3型が人に感染
鳥インフル、世界初か
　【上海共同】中国国家衛生健康委員会は1日、江蘇省鎮江市の男性（41）から鳥インフルエンザ（H10N3型）が検出されたと発表した。同委員会によると、H10N3型の人への感染が確認されたのは世界初。「偶発的な感染で、大規模な流行が起こるリスクは極めて低い」としている。
　専門家は「人から人への感染が起こっていないので、現時点で恐れる必要はない」と指摘した。
　男性は4月23日に発熱。症状が悪化し、同28日に医療機関で治療を受けた。現在も入院中だが状態は安定している。同委員会は感染の状況などを明らかにしていない。

ウクライナ戦争の現状はどうなっている？

ウクライナ戦争の状況が偽旗作戦やウクライナの一方的な宣伝で分かりにくくなっています。

4月初めにロシア軍がキエフ周辺から撤退しており、マリウポルを包囲してテロリストやNATOの支援兵が脱出できなくなっているところを見ると、ロシア軍はドンバスなどの南東部を抑えて守りの態勢に入ったようです。

クレムリンのスボークスマン　ぺスコフは、「数日以内にウクライナでの作戦終了を望む」と述べています。

軍事目標の達成か交渉の成立によるとしていますが、軍事目標はほぼ達成されたとみられることから武力行使はこの先縮小していくでしょう。

ただ、停戦合意がなければ（あってもウクライナ側が順守するとは思えませんが）、散発的な戦闘は続くでしょう。

戦闘が完全に終了しても、対ロシア経済制裁は尾を引くでしょう。米国は欧州の没落を狙っているとの説があります。

経済制裁で被害、経済面の打撃を最も強く受けているのは欧州です。米国はロシアからの原油輸入を増やしています。プレミアム付きで欧州に売るとの見方もあります。

英国は偽旗作戦の仕掛人でもあります。英国は武器輸出のうまみを捨てられない。ドイツも武器輸出に向かっています。

一時、ブリンケンが停戦で経済制裁は解除されると述べましたが、米国は次々にウクライナに武器を供給しています。対立を煽る一方です。軍産複合体にしてみれば、戦争が長引き、税金を使って武器を調達し、ウクライナで消費してもらうことが一日でも長いほうが良い。

欧州の没落は確実。ですが、こんな状況になっても欧州の政治家の中に冷静な判断をして、ウクライナ戦争から距離を置こうとする声が出ない、米国追随を考え直そうとする声が出ないのは大変不思議です。

一方、国連でのロシア非難になる決議への各国の賛否の状況を見ると、中国、インドが欧米の動きに同調せず、中東、アフリカ、中南米でも慎重姿勢を示すところが増えています。

米国の覇権は揺らいでいます。ウクライナ戦争で、米国の権威が回復することはないとする説が当たっていると思われます。

Kiev is working to effect the “seizure” of Russian assets in the West and their disbursement to Ukraine, in order to pay for rebuilding the country following the present conflict, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said at a press event on Thursday.

He told reporters that a “working group” had been established to see how Russian assets frozen in the West could be transferred to Kiev. While admitting that the exact legal framework for the intended confiscation remains to be determined, as there’s “no single procedure in the world to do this,” Shmygal said Kiev would “work with each country separately” to develop a scheme to pay for Ukraine's reconstruction efforts.

This echoed Shmygal’s words last week at a government meeting, where he identified the “freezing and seizure of all Russian funds and assets abroad” as one of the three “directions” Kiev was considering as part of its plans to rebuild the country, along with the “accumulation of funds from partners” and arrival at a “competent calculation” of the losses incurred during Russia’s ongoing military operation.

Ukraine had received more than $3 billion in financial support from abroad, Shmygal said at the time, adding that Kiev was in negotiations for another $10 billion, according to Interfax news agency.

Kiev announced plans in early March to establish four distinct funds to rebuild Ukraine following the conflict. One was earmarked for restoring the destroyed property and infrastructure, another for “debt service and repayment,” the third to “support affected business” with the aim of restoring normalcy in the private sector, and the fourth dedicated to “economic renewal and transformation,” which Shmygal characterized as a “Ukrainian Marshall Plan” to not just rebuild, but “build a new European country.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell arrived in Kiev by train on Friday, pledging support for Ukraine’s “EU path.” Their visit comes after Russia pulled back troops from the vicinity of the capital.

The trip is a signal that “Ukraine is in control of its territory,” Borrell told reporters.

“Ukraine is not a country invaded, dominated. There is still a government (which) receives people from outside and you can travel to Kiev,” he added.

Von der Leyen told the media she was bringing the message that there “will be the EU path” for Ukraine to President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Usually, it takes years before the EU council accepts application for membership but Ukraine did that in a week or two and I ask to move forward as soon as possible,” she said, adding that her goal is to present Ukraine’s application to the council “this summer.”

Von der Leyen also pledged support for Ukraine to “emerge from the war as a democratic country,” with EU financial help. Borrell told reporters he hoped the EU would offer another 500 million euros in aid to Kiev in the near future.

Zelensky has demanded of the US and its EU allies to do more against Russia, including a total ban on oil and gas purchases and accepting Ukraine as a full member. He argues that Russia threatens not just his country, but European security as a whole.

Oil sanctions are “a big elephant in the room,” as they would seriously impact EU economies, but a decision on exports will be raised on Monday, Borrell said.

The two officials were later taken to Bucha, a town northwest of Kiev, to see the bodies of what the Ukrainian government says are civilians massacred by the Russian troops during their withdrawal. Moscow has denied the allegation and claimed Kiev manipulated evidence for a “provocation.”

Irish MEP Clare Daly has accused elected EU representatives of “shooting ourselves in the foot” by backing the imposition of sanctions on Russia, and warned that rejecting energy imports from Europe's largest country would lead to “disastrous inflation, rocketing energy costs, and a historic decline in living standards,” while failing to deter Moscow.

Addressing the EU Parliament on Wednesday, a day before it voted to support “an immediate full embargo on Russian imports of oil, coal, nuclear fuel and gas,” Daly condemned the sanctions imposed by the bloc thus far as ineffective against the Kremlin and potentially “catastrophic” for Europeans.

“How is not selling Kerrygold butter to Russia going to save any Ukrainian lives? How is buying filthy fracked US gas going to stop the war?” she exclaimed, referring to the American Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) offered to European buyers by Washington, albeit at a higher cost than Russia’s product.

“They won’t, of course, because nowhere have sanctions ever succeeded in ending a military assault or achieving regime change.”
