Camp Bucca: The US prison that became the birthplace of Isis
Nine members of the Islamic State’s top command did time at Bucca
In March 2009, in a wind-swept sliver of Iraq, a sense of uncertainty befell the southern town of Garma, home to one of the Iraq War’s most notorious prisons. The sprawling detention center called Camp Bucca, which had detained some of the Iraq War’s most radical jihadists along the Kuwait border, had just freed hundreds of inhabitants. Families rejoiced, anxiously awaiting their sons, brothers and fathers who had been lost to Bucca for years. But a local official fretted.

“These men weren’t planting flowers in a garden,” police chief Saad Abbas Mahmoud told The Washington Post’s Anthony Shadid, estimating 90 percent of the freed prisoners would soon resume fighting. “They weren’t strolling down the street. This problem is both big and dangerous. And regrettably, the Iraqi government and the authorities don’t know how big the problem has become.”

Mahmoud’s assessment of Camp Bucca, which funneled 100,000 detainees through its barracks and closed months later, would prove prescient. The camp now represents an opening chapter in the history of Islamic State − many of its leaders, including Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, were incarcerated and likely met there. According to former prison commanders, analysts and soldiers, Camp Bucca provided a unique setting for both prisoner radicalization and inmate collaboration − and was formative in the development today’s most potent jihadist force.

In all, nine members of the Islamic State’s top command did time at Bucca, according to the terrorist analyst organization Soufan Group. Apart from Baghdadi himself, who spent five years there, the leader’s number two, Abu Muslim al-Turkmani, as well as senior military leader Haji Bakr, (now deceased), and leader of foreign fighters Abu Qasim were incarcerated there, Soufan said. Though it’s likely the men were extremists when they entered Bucca, the group added, it’s certain they were when they left.

“Before their detention, Mr al-Baghdadi and others were violent radicals, intent on attacking America,” wrote military veteran Andrew Thompson and academic Jeremi Suri in the New York Times this month. “Their time in prison deepened their extremism and gave them opportunities to broaden their following. The prisons became virtual terrorist universities: the hardened radicals were the professors, the other detainees were the students, and the prison authorities played the role of absent custodian.”

It’s a scenario that’s long confounded law enforcement: how do you crack down on extremism without creating more of it? From the radicalisation of white supremacists in U.S. prisons to the United Kingdom’s disastrous bid in the 1970s to incarcerate Irish Republican Army members, the problem is nothing new: prisons are pools of explosive extremism awaiting a spark.

From the radicalisation of white supremacists in U.S. prisons to the United Kingdom’s disastrous bid in the 1970s to incarcerate Irish Republican Army members, the problem is nothing new: prisons are pools of explosive extremism awaiting a spark.

And at Camp Bucca, there was no shortage of sparks. As news of Baghdadi’s tenure at Bucca emerged, former prison commander James Skylar Gerrond remembered many of them. “Re: Badghadi,” he wrote on Twitter in July, “Many of us at Camp Bucca were concerned that instead of just holding detainees, we had created a pressure cooker for extremism.” He worked at the prison between 2006 and 2007, when it was glutted with tens of thousands of radicals, including Baghdadi. Many were guilty of attacking American soldiers. But many more were not; “simply being a ‘suspicious looking’ military-aged male in the vicinity of an attack was enough to land one behind bars,” according to the Times opinion piece. Shadid reported as much in 2009, confirming many viewed it “as an appalling miscarriage of justice where prisoners were not charged or permitted to see evidence against them and freed detainees may end up swelling the ranks of a subdued insurgency.”

That this subdued insurgency eventually caught fire isn’t much of a surprise. At the height of the Iraq surge in 2007, when the prison was glutted with 24,000 inmates, it seethed with extremism. Inhabitants were divided along sectarian lines to ameliorate tension, a military report said, and inmates settled their disputes with Islamic law. “Inside the wire at these compounds are Islamic extremists who will maim or kill fellow detainees for behavior they consider against Islam,” the military report said.

“Sharia courts enforce a lot of rules inside the compounds,” one soldier quoted in the report said. "Anyone who takes part in behavior which is seen as western is severely punished by the extremist elements of the compound. It’s quite appalling sometimes."

Prison commanders such as Gerrond observed the growing extremism: “There was a huge amount of collective pressure exerted on detainees to become more radical in their beliefs,” he told Mother Jones. “Detainees turned to each other for support. If there were radical elements within this support network, there was always the potential that detainees would become more radical.”

But the unique setting at Bucca, which thrust together Saddam Hussein’s Baathist secularists and Islamic fundamentalists, set the stage for something perhaps worse: collaboration. At the prison, the two seemingly incongruous groups joined to form a union “more than a marriage of convenience”, Soufan reported.

Soufan found each group offered the other something it lacked. In the ex-Baathists, jihadists found organizational skills and military discipline. In the jihadists, ex-Baathists found purpose. “In Bucca, the math changed as ideologies adopted military and bureaucratic traits and as bureaucrats became violent extremists,” the Soufan report said.

From the ashes of what former inmates called an “al-Qaeda school,” rose the Islamic State. Indeed, when those inhabitants freed in 2009 returned to Baghdad, the Post reported, they spoke of two things: their conversion to radicalism − and revenge.

ここより、EPAはMCSに関するNAS( National Academy of Sciences:米国科学アカデミー)の会議への出資を行い、またEPA自身によるMCS研究にも乗り出すこととなります。

Now, did these staff develop MCS due to a mysterious suggestion by a clinical environmental physician? Of course, EPA did not think so.
From here, EPA will invest in a NAS (National Academy of Sciences) meeting on MCS, and will also embark on MCS research by EPA itself.
These would have been in progress around 1992, so for example, they could not yet be included in the 1992 AMA document.
If you read the 1994 report based on this background, it will no longer be clear why EPA and others can no longer deny MCS and clinical environmentalists.
Of course, just because dozens of EPA officials have developed MCS does not mean that the mechanism will be elucidated. However, when we witness one after another patients with serious symptoms that greatly affect their lives, it is impossible to do nothing until the mechanism becomes clear.
For example, consider the cervical cancer vaccine side reaction that is currently a problem. * 3
Although there are some reports that suggest side reaction mechanisms, the full picture is still unknown. There is no evidence of treatment for new diseases. Then leave it until you understand? If you don't know the mechanism, you can make it psychological?
No. Elucidation of human illness is a process that does not wonder if it takes decades or more. Even for Minamata disease, the mechanism is still unclear.
Under such circumstances, of course, we must be cautious in the cooperative relationship of trust with the patient, but we must proceed by groping for a coping method to relieve symptoms as much as possible. That is medical treatment. NATROM doesn't seem to know that at all.
EPA would have experienced it and realized the importance and importance of MCS and its diverse perspectives, including clinical environmental physicians.
Now, Mr. NATROM, you can see that the 1994 report has been written and historically deny or excluded MCS and clinical environmental physicians.
If you are a conscientious doctor, should you treat in good faith the wrong discourse that has been afflicting patients for over 12 years since 2002?

ここから、EPAはMCSに関するNAS(National Academy of Sciences)ミーティングに投資し、EPA自体によるMCS研究にも乗り出します。

Al-Fatah Alliance Blasts US for Preventing Equipment of Iraq's Air Defense System
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iraq's powerful al-Fatah Alliance lashed out at Washington for blocking the country's efforts to equip its Armed Forces with advanced missile defense systems.

"The US prevented Iraq's defense ministry, Army, Air Force and Air Defense Force from being a well equipped force 2010-2013, which resulted in the ISIL attack against Iraq," al-Fatah Spokesman Ahmed al-Assadi was quoted as saying by the Arabic-language al-Nahrain news website on Sunday.

He called on the Iraqi government to sign contracts to purchase advanced defense systems from different manufacturing states to prevent foreign aggression against the country.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Secretary-General of Iraq's popular Al-Nujaba Movement Akram al-Kaabi warned of Washington and its allies' plots against his country, saying that the American forces had deactivated Iraq's missile defense shield.

"The Americans have deactivated and weakened Iraq's air defense system," Kaabi said.

He described the US as weaker than the past, but meantime said that the Americans are after weakening Iraq in collaboration with Israel, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

"The Zionist regime tries to humiliate the Arab states, but it is not strong itself and is weaker than the spider's den," al-Kaabi said.

His comments came after Iraq’s Hashd al-Shaabi (Iraq’s Popular Mobilization) forces in a statement announced last month that Israeli drones backed by the US aircraft pounded their positions near the border with Syria.

The Hashd al-Sha’abi in a statement reported that two Israeli drones struck its military positions in Akashat-Alqaem Road in al-Anbar province 15 kilometers from the border with Syria.

The statement noted that the attack has taken place with the aerial support of the US and monitoring of a huge surveillance balloon near the site of the attack, and said that the attack took place with the start of the Phase 4 of Eradeh al-Nasr (the Will of Victory) military operation jointly conducted by the Iraqi Army, Police Force and Hashd al-Sha’abi against the ISIL remnants in the Western part of the country.

It noted that a Hashd al-Sha’abi member was killed and another was wounded in the Israeli drone attacks.

Meantime, Hashd al-Sha’abi commander Hadi al-Jazayeri told the Arabic-language al-Ma’aloumeh news website that the continued drone attacks on Hashd al-Sha’abi’s military positions would be given a harsh response by Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces as already warned by his deputy Abu al-Mahdi al-Mohandes.

Al-Jazayeri pointed to the defeat of the US-Israeli plots targeting Hashd al-Sha’abi in Iraq and the region, and said that such defeats had resulted in Israeli drone attacks on Hashd al-Sha’abi’s military positions.

Al-Jazayeri also warned that any flight taking place over Iraqi sky and without the permission of the Iraqi government is regarded an act of aggression.

Iraqi MP: US Massively Supporting ISIL
TEHRAN (FNA)- An Iraqi lawmaker underlined that the US is providing all-out support for the ISIL terrorists, and called for expediting the approval of a law on expulsion of foreign troops from Iraq.

“The ISIL terrorists are massively supported by the US through training, weapons shipments and airborne relocation,” the Arabic-language Baghdad al-Youm news website quoted Iraqi Parliament lawmaker from al-Fath Alliance Saham al-Mousavi as saying.

She pointed to the massive backup by the US for terrorists’ movements and their relocation between Syria and Iraq, and said that the Iraqi parliament will move to speed up approval of the law on expulsion of foreign troops, specially the US troops from all Iraqi regions.

In a relevant development in July, the Arabic-language media outlets reported that Washington planned to bring back a more dangerous version of the ISIL terrorist group to Iraq and Syria after its failure to achieve its mischievous goals in the region.

The Arabic-language website of the Russian Sputnik news agency quoted Hessam Sho'aib, a Syrian military expert on terrorist organizations, as saying that a recent report by the US-based Institute for Studies of War (ISW) on rebirth of the ISIL terrorists in Iraq and Syria exposes this reality that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has created the ISIL and is preparing the grounds for the return of the terrorist groups, specially the ISIL, to the region.

Sho'aib noted that the ISW's report on ISIL's dominance over several regions in Iraq and Syria such as Mosul shows that the US is not looking for establishment of peace in the region and ISIL's retreat from Raqqa has taken place on CIA's order and not a defeat in war against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

He reiterated that the SDF is also a part of the CIA's plot for Syria, and said, "The US has come to know that it cannot conduct any kind of military operation against Iran, and therefore it has resorted to reviving the terrorist groups to carry out terrorist attacks as a much cheaper scenario for the region.

Sho'aib noted that Washington uses the terrorist groups in the region as a pressure lever, and said that the purpose for reviving the terrorist organizations is preoccupying the regional countries' armies, specially Iraq, Syria and Iran.

Qatari Paper: Over 4,000 Civilians Killed in Iraq’s Mosul in One Month of US Airstrikes
TEHRAN (FNA)- A Qatari newspaper unveiled the death of thousands of civilians in US airstrikes on different regions of Iraq, and at least 4,000 people in Mosul, in just a month.

The Doha-based al-Arabi al-Jadid in a report said that over 4,000 civilians have been killed in only one month of US air raids on Mosul city, dismissing the US-led coalition’s allegations that no civilian has been killed in the US air raids.

It noted that the US air raids on the old city of Mosul has been an instance of massacre.

The daily pointed to the devastating role of the US attacks on Iraq, and said that it has been reckoned that tens of thousands of Iraqis have been killed in the US air and missile attacks on different parts of Iraq.

The al-Arabi al-Jadid noted that the operations to pull out corpses of the Iraqi families from Mosul debris are still underway, and said that tens of houses have been destroyed and all people inside them have been killed in the US airstrikes on the Iraqi cities, including Falluja, al-Ramadi and al-Hawija.

In a relevant development in late July, a senior member of the Iraqi parliament disclosed Washington's plot to drive Hashd al-Shaabi (popular mobilization forces) away from the Nineveh plain in Northern Mosul in a bid to establish a safe zone for the ISIL terrorists in the region.

Karim al-Mohammadawi, a senior member of the Iraqi parliament's Security and Defense Committee, told the Arabic-language al-Ma'aloumeh news website that Washington is attempting to pressure the Iraqi government and security apparatus to transfer the family members of the ISIL terrorists from al-Houl camp in Syria to certain regions in Nineveh plain in Northern and Northeastern Mosul.

He added that Washington wants to create a safe region for ISIL's return to Mosul and drive away Hashd al-Shaabi from Nineveh plain.

Al-Mohammadawi warned that return of the ISIL terrorists' family members is a serious threat to Iraq's security.

Nujaba: Israeli Forces Entering Iraq on Fake US Passports
TEHRAN (FNA)- Senior Israeli forces are getting into Iraq on fake US passports, Iraq’s pro-government Harakat al-Nujaba Secretary-General Akram al-Kaabi announced.

“Israelis are entering Iraq using fake American passports,” al-Kaabi told Dejleh news network on Friday.

Recently, a female Israeli general entered Iraq, he said, adding she currently runs an Israeli military camp located in the Iraqi Kurdistan's capital, Erbil.

“We are well aware that Israeli [troops] are also present at the US embassy as well as the Ein al-Assad military base,” the popular resistance force chief stated.

Certain efforts by a “foreign power” are underway to revive the Daesh terrorist group in the Arab country, al-Kaabi noted.

His remarks came in the wake of recent airstrikes in Iraq against the positions of pro-government Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Hashd al-Shaabi.

Following the strikes, the spokesman of Kata'ib Hezbollah, another prominent Iraqi resistance group, said the attacks on the positions of Hashd al-Shaabi were an attempt by the US and Israel to revive Daesh.

Mohammed Muhyee added that the next stage, which has been planned by the US, is to return thousands of foreign-backed Daesh terrorists to the Iraqi-Syrian border.

The attacks "were not accidental", but rather planned in advance after continued monitoring operations by Israeli and American drones, Muhyee pointed out.

On Tuesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi stated that his country’s armed forces were fully prepared to respond firmly to any act of aggression launched either from outside or inside Iraq.

“The prime minister pointed to the high readiness of our armed forces to defend Iraq, its citizens and state institutions in addition to diplomatic missions operating in Iraq," his media office said in a statement released following a cabinet session.

"He also stressed the Iraqi forces’ readiness to respond firmly and by all means available to any aggression launched either from outside or inside Iraq," it added.

Daesh unleashed a campaign of death and destruction in Iraq in 2014, overrunning vast swathes of territory in lightning attacks. Iraqi government forces and allied fighters then launched operations to eliminate the terror outfit and retake lost territory.

The PMU had a key role in flushing Daesh out of the areas it had occupied in Iraq.

In December 2017, Iraq declared the end of the anti-Daesh campaign. The group’s remnants, though, keep staging sporadic attacks across Iraq.

Baghdad Reveals Israeli Assaults on Iraq Launched from US-Backed Kurds Base in Syria, Financed by Saudis
TEHRAN (FNA)- Israeli drones, which have targeted pro-Baghdad forces inside the Arab country, have been launched from bases controlled by the Kurdish militia in Syria with the financial support of Saudi Arabia, Iraqi intelligence concluded.

Iraq’s intelligence services believe that five recent drone attacks on pro-government troops were launched from bases under the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia’s control in Syria, an official told Middle East Eye (MEE).

The Iraqi official, who has knowledge of the latest intelligence briefing from Baghdad’s security services, stated that the strikes were conducted by Israel, with the understanding of the Washington-backed SDF and backing of Riyadh.

“The drone attacks were launched from SDF areas with the financing and backing of the Saudis,” the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told MEE.

The Israeli attacks began in mid-July when a drone dropped explosives onto a Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, base near the town of Amerli, in Salahuddin Province, killing at least one resistance fighter and injuring four others.

Unnamed senior American officials have recently confirmed that Israel conducted “several strikes in recent days” in Iraq, amid the series of unclaimed strikes in the past month targeting bases belonging to pro-government troops.

The most recent, on Sunday, saw two unmanned aircraft strike one of popular forces' positions near the border with Syria, killing one fighter and severely wounding another, according to the organization.

According to the senior official, the plan to strike was hatched when Saudi Minister of State for Arab Gulf Affairs Thamer Al-Sabhan, who is known to be one of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s top lieutenants, visited SDF-held Northeastern Syria in June. The MbS' aide laid the groundwork by offering the initially reticent SDF funds in return for their base being used as a launchpad for the strikes.

According to the senior Iraqi official, Northern Syria was used to launch the attacks because Israeli attack drones do not have the range to hit targets in Iraq from Israel.

“Israeli personnel were operating the drones from SDF-controlled bases,” the Iraqi official disclosed.

The source noted that the Iraqis were initially sceptical Israel was behind the attacks because of doubts that Israeli drones would be able to reach Iraq.

On Monday, Iraqi President Barham Saleh hosted a meeting with Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi and PMU leaders regarding the aerial assaults.

A statement issued after the meeting described the attacks as a “blatant act of aggression”. “These attacks are a blatant, hostile act that target Iraq,” it said, adding, “Iraqi sovereignty and the well-being of its people are a red line.”

The PMU was formed and joined forces with the Iraqi military in 2014 after the Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) Takfiri terrorist group launched a campaign of bloodshed and destruction against the Arab nation.

PM: Iraq Ready to Respond to Any Aggressive Move
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi stressed that his country’s armed forces are fully prepared to respond firmly to any act of aggression launched either from outside or inside Iraq.

“The prime minister pointed to the high readiness of our armed forces to defend Iraq, its citizens and state institutions in addition to diplomatic missions operating in Iraq. He also stressed the Iraqi forces’ readiness to respond firmly and by all means available to any aggression launched either from outside or inside Iraq,” Abdul-Mahdi’s media office said in a statement released following a cabinet session in the capital Baghdad on Tuesday, Middle East News reported.

The statement added, “Abdul-Mahdi also touched on the ongoing diplomatic contacts with all neighboring countries besides Arab and regional states as well as the international community in order to explain the position of Iraq and mobilize regional and international support for solidarity with it and its just position and its policy in support of peace and stability."

The cabinet affirmed their support for Abdul-Mahdi's "clear vision in managing the crisis and reassurance of the capabilities of our people and our armed forces and for the significant development in the status of Iraq in its Arab, regional and international environment, and to continue Iraq's clear policy of rejecting escalation and the policy of axes and the use of its territory to attack others".

“Iraq continues to play its influential and constructive role in defusing the crisis that threatens the security of the (Middle East) region and the world and undermines the efforts to fight the Daesh terrorist group…,” it pointed out.

“The Iraqi government reaffirms its full commitment to its constitutional and national responsibilities to defend the security and safety of Iraq, its people and national sovereignty… Any attack on the country’ territory, sovereignty or armed forces is an attack on everyone,” the statement highlighted.

Abdul-Mahdi further noted that “the sensitive situation that Iraq is going through requires acting with wisdom, courage and great concern for the present and future of Iraq and its people, and requires unity of the national ranks in all its political and media activities".

“Iraq reserves the right to take necessary legal and diplomatic measures and through regional institutions plus the Security Council and the United Nations to defend its sovereignty and security by all legitimate means,” he stated.

Iraq had declared recent Israeli aggression as an act of war after attacks on Lebanon, Syria and Iraq over the weekend, promising devastating retaliation if the violence continues.

On Monday, Iraqi President Barham Saleh hosted a meeting with Abdul-Mahdi, Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi and PMU leaders regarding the aerial assaults, just hours after another drone strike targeted Iraq’s Popular Mobilization in the Western town of al-Qaim.

A statement issued after the meeting described the attacks as a “blatant act of aggression” meant to drag the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), or Hashd al-Shaabi, away from its role of eradicating remnants of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.

“These attacks are a blatant, hostile act that target Iraq,” it said, adding, “Iraqi sovereignty and the well-being of its people are a red line.”

It further stressed that the Iraqi government would take all necessary steps to “deter aggressors and defend Iraq".

Iraqi Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed al-Sahaf expressed Baghdad’s readiness to take all available diplomatic and legal actions to prevent the violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a statement released on Monday, the Fatah (Conquest) alliance held the United States accountable for the drone strikes on PMU bases over the past few weeks, which are widely reported to have been carried out by the Tel Aviv regime.

“While we reserve the right to respond to these Zionist attacks, we hold the international coalition, particularly the United States, fully responsible for this aggression, which we consider a declaration of war on Iraq and its people,” read the statement.

It also called for the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, stressing that they are no longer needed there.

The Israeli attacks began in mid-July when a drone dropped explosives onto a PMU base near the town of Amerli, in Salahuddin Province, killing at least one resistance fighter and injuring four others. Unnamed American officials confirmed that Israel had been behind the attacks.

Iraq would face ‘wrath of US’ if oil pipeline projects with Iran go ahead
Washington would do anything to prevent an Iran-Iraq oil pipeline from ever being built, even if the Europeans were in favor, policy researchers told RT.

“Iraq would feel the wrath of the US” should it pursue a cross-border pipeline project with its neighbor Iran, believes the head of the British-based consultancy firm Alfa Energy, John Hall.

According to a recent report, Tehran talked with Baghdad about building an oil pipeline through Iraq into Syria. The sides have also reportedly discussed reviving the existing pipeline connecting Kirkuk in Iraqi Kurdistan with the city of Baniyas on Syria’s Mediterranean coast. The pipeline was heavily damaged by US airstrikes in 2003 and has remained defunct since. The proposed project is said to be aimed at providing an alternative route for Iranian oil should the Strait of Hormuz be closed in case of a direct conflict with the US.

Senior MP Warns US Forces to Leave Iraq Immediately or Face Death
TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iraqi legislator and member of Asa'eb al-Haq Movement affiliated to Hashd al-Shaabi called on the American forces to withdraw from the country as soon as possible, warning of attacks against them.

Hossein Salem in a statement quoted by the Arabic-language website of Russia Today asked the Iraqi government to pressure the US forces to leave Iraq soon.

He also warned of the imminent adoption of the military option against the US troops if they remain adamant to a pullout from Iraq.

"If the Americans do not leave, they will be within the range of the Islamic Resistance's weapons and their embassy, consulate and centers will be targeted first and we do not accept any pretext from them. We neither want training, nor support and military advisors," Salem said.

His remarks came after a leading Shiite Muslim cleric followed by a large number of Iraqi people issued a public religious fatwa forbidding the presence of US troops in Iraq.

The fatwa issued Friday by Grand Ayatollah Kazem al-Haeri came after Hashd al-Shaabi in Iraq accused the US of being behind recent attacks on their bases and weapons depots in Iraq.

Two US officials have confirmed that Israel was responsible for the bombing of a weapons depot in Iraq on July 19.
Ayatollah Haeri called on the Iraqi armed forces to "resist and confront the enemy".

RT2019/9/6
China slams Washington for ‘abusing concept of national security’ in crusade against Huawei
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson has condemned VP Mike Pence’s calls for further international cooperation in US ongoing crusade against tech giant Huawei.

Beijing sharply criticized Washington after Pence called on “Iceland and other freedom-loving nations to find alternatives to essentially China’s state-based 5G operation” in a meeting with Iceland’s Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir.

“This is a typical hegemonism and the politicization of economic and trade issues,” said Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang, AP reports.

American leaders are making “irresponsible remarks” and continue “abusing the concept of national security” to target Chinese companies, Geng maintained.

Washington has been pressuring its allies to stop business with the Chinese firm Huawei – the world’s second-largest smartphone manufacturer – for quite a while already.

The Trump administration claims that the company is in cahoots with the Chinese government and represents a security threat, but many are unconvinced. Germany, for example, argues there is no evidence of suspicious behavior from Huawei, and the company has expressed readiness to share its source code so that each government can “validate by themselves.”

This week Poland and the US signed a joint agreement to “ensure only trusted and reliable suppliers participate in networks,” – a deal that may take a swipe at Huawei. The move comes as Warsaw tries to boost its ties with Washington.

Huawei, for its part, has accused the US of “using every tool at its disposal – including both judicial and administrative powers, as well as a host of other unscrupulous means – to disrupt the normal business operations of Huawei and its partners.”

The US has further launched cyber attacks against company systems and attempted to impersonate or recruit employees for spying purposes, Huawei claimed in a statement released on Tuesday.

Huawei accuses US of trying to hack its systems, recruit spies & intimidate employees
The US has used “unscrupulous means” to attack Huawei’s business in recent months – trying to hack its servers and turn employees into spies using extortion, legal threats and coercion, the Chinese telecom giant has claimed.

Washington “has been using every tool at its disposal – including both judicial and administrative powers, as well as a host of other unscrupulous means – to disrupt the normal business operations of Huawei and its partners,” the company said in a statement released on Tuesday, adding that the US had been “leveraging its political and diplomatic influence to lobby other governments to ban Huawei equipment” as well.

Jealous of Huawei’s number-two position in the world smartphone market, the US government has used law enforcement to threaten, coerce, and entice current and former employees to become spies for Washington, impersonated Huawei employees for entrapment purposes, launching cyberattacks against company systems, and “obstruct[ed] normal business activities,” Huawei declared, accusing the US of interfering with shipments, denying visas, and otherwise waging lawfare against the company.

Washington has even conspired with Huawei clients and competitors to try to get the company blackballed in the industry, the company added.

The statement came in response to last week’s claim by the Wall Street Journal that the US Department of Justice was investigating Huawei for stealing a patented smartphone camera design.

Patent-holder Rui Pedro Oliveira, Huawei claimed, had threatened the Chinese company with media exposure and pressure exerted through “political channels” if it did not pay “an extortionate amount of money” – even though his design bears little resemblance to Huawei’s own. Accusing Oliveira of “taking advantage of the current geopolitical situation,” Huawei also slammed the media for “encouraging” such mendacious behavior.

Huawei ready to share source code with foreign nations to alleviate security concerns
Huawei is prepared to fully cooperate with foreign nations in order to debunk claims that the Chinese tech giant is in cahoots with Beijing, the company’s senior vice president has said.

The firm, which has pioneered 5G technology, is considering making its source code available to all stakeholders, Senior Vice President John Suffolk said, in an interview with Kyodo News.

“Each individual country should validate by themselves,” Suffolk said, adding that “there is not one model of validation that all of our customers would accept.”

Pushing back against accusations leveled by Washington, Suffolk stressed that his company has never been asked by the Chinese government to hand over user data or other sensitive information.

Huawei has already offered to let Tokyo inspect its products for potential security vulnerabilities, a Japanese government official told the news outlet.

The United States has been pressuring its allies to blacklist Huawei, but its months-long lobbying campaign has had lackluster results.

Poland announced on Monday that it would agree to a Washington-approved protocol as it develops its 5G network, but many other European states –including close allies such as Germany– have refused to shun Huawei simply because it is a Chinese firm.

FARSNEWS2019/9/6
TEHRAN (FNA)- The terrorists of Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) have accused their ringleader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani of ordering the recent assassinations of the terrorist group’s senior commanders.

The wave of accusations came after it was exposed that al-Jolani had set up a special team to stop internal plots and international agreements against him.

The Center for Syria Documents reported that Al-Jolani has covertly formed a special security team comprising devoted security elements whose main mission is to thwart any plot or international agreements in Idlib against al-Jolani.

It noted that Jolani’s team was comprised of 2,500 devoted militants who cooperate with clandestine networks in Idlib secretly and without knowledge of Tahrir al-Sham and other affiliated terrorist groups.

Jolani’s security team has been accused of assassinating several commanders of Tahrir al-Sham, including Abu Omar Saraqi who was named as the most important choice to succeed al-Jolani and was assassinated in 2016.

In a relevant development on Wednesday, people in Idlib staged protest rallies against al-Jolani, calling for the withdrawal of terrorists from the occupied territories.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper quoted local sources in Northern Syria as saying on Wednesday that residents of Ma'aret al-Numan, Saraqib, Kafar Takharim and Ariha in Idlib and the town of al-Artab in Western Aleppo demanded the militants to leave the region.

They underlined public fury over the continued presence of terrorists in Idlib after four days of truce in the province, saying that a number of terrorists have fled towards the Turkish borders after the popular protests.

Meantime, reports said that terrorists fired bullet at the protestors in the town of al-Artab in Western Aleppo, wounding a number of people.

In a relevant development on Monday, the Arabic-language media outlets reported that al-Jolani had collaborated with Washington in the recent air raids on affiliated terrorist groups in Idlib with the aim of defeating Turkey's efforts to dissolve Tahrir al-Sham in Northern Syria.

The al-Watan newspaper quoted sources affiliated to Tahrir al-Sham as saying that the recent US airstrikes against the terrorists' command centers between the towns of Kafraya and Ma'arat Misrin in Northern Idlib were carried out through the intel provided by al-Jolani to the US.

They added that he has given the Americans a list of the bases and weapons and equipment caches of Tahrir al-Sham and other affiliated groups, including Ansar al-Touhid and Horras al-Din which had under Turkey's pressure declared their defection from Tahrir al-Sham.

The sources said that Washington's military intervention in Idlib after the ceasefire was declared and after the Russian-Turkish meeting in Moscow is aimed at making ineffective Ankara's efforts under the Sochi agreement.

Tahrir Al-Sham Strengthens Positions in Deescalation Zone despite Ankara's Promise to Evacuate Terrorists
TEHRAN (FNA)- Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) terrorist group reinvigorated its positions in the demilitarized zone in spite of Turkey's agreement with Russia to force the militants to withdraw from the region.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper quoted a field source as saying on Tuesday that the terrorist groups have not yet withdrawn from their positions in Damascus-Aleppo and Aleppo-Lattakia highways to be controlled by the Syrian army after four days of ceasefire declared by the army in Northern Syria.

Sources close to the National Liberation Front terrorist group revealed preparation of Tahrir al-Sham for a new battle against the Syrian army in Northern Hama and Southern Idlib, saying that the group is strengthening its positions in these areas.

Meantime, the Arabic-language Arabi al-Youm quoted field sources in Northern Syria as saying that the Syrian army has in the past few days sent a large number of forces and military equipment, including special forces, to its bases in the fronts near Manian, Dhahiyat al-Assa and 1070 project regions in Western Aleppo and stationed thousands of forces in Southern Idlib in front of al-Sarman region.

They added that in case of Turkey's inability to implement its undertakings to evacuate Tahrir al-Sham from the de-escalation zone, the Syrian army will start massive military operations with the aim of reopening the Aleppo-Damascus highway.

Undeclared US airstrike on Syria’s Idlib leaves multiple casualties, puts truce at risk – MoD
Sending no warning to Russia or Turkey, the US bombed an array of targets within Idlib, Syria, killing numerous civilians and threatening the hard-earned truce across the province, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The air raid led to “multiple casualties and destruction” around two villages in the Idlib province, where a fragile ceasefire between government forces and militants is still in place, the Russian Reconciliation Center said on Sunday. The airstrike, carried out on Saturday, “endangered the truce” and “violated all previous arrangements.”

Earlier, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it targeted leaders of a group it calls al-Qaeda in Syria. The strike “will further degrade their ability to conduct future attacks and destabilize the region,” it claimed.

But it hit shortly after Syrian government forces began a unilateral truce in the rebel-held province, Russia’s Defense Ministry noted. The Syrian Army is still sticking to the ceasefire despite militant attacks provoked by the US bombing.
Simultaneously, all combat sorties inside Syria were brought to a halt, the ministry said, rebuking US accusations about Russian “indiscriminate airstrikes” in Idlib.

Forces loyal to the government launched a major offensive on Idlib back in April and made significant advances last month. After days of fierce battles, they managed to liberate strategic locations, including Khan Sheikhoun, a town which had remained a rebel stronghold for years.

Still, a part of the province remains in the hands of a host of jihadist groups that continue to fight against the Damascus government. Hostilities between the Syrian army and the militants were mitigated through a joint diplomatic effort by Russia, Turkey and Iran to create a lasting peace in north-eastern Syria.

Syrian armed forces to cease fire in Idlib de-escalation zone on Saturday – Russian military
Syrian government forces will unilaterally cease fire in the de-escalation zone in the Idlib region on Saturday morning, the Russian Defense Ministry’s Center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said on Friday.

To stabilize the situation in the area, an agreement was achieved on the Syrian military’s unilateral ceasefire starting at 6am, August 31, TASS reported, citing the center’s statement.

The ministry also urged armed militant groups in the region to join the ceasefire.

Separately, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu was quoted as saying on Friday that the country’s armed forces will leave Syrian territory “if a political settlement” is found there.

Syria's war: US 'targets al-Qaeda leaders' in rebel-held Idlib
The US Central Command said the 'strike' targeted leaders that were 'responsible for attacks threatening US citizens.'
The United States military has said it carried out an attack against "al-Qaeda leaders" in north west Syria.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on Saturday its attack in rebel-held Idlib province targeted leaders that were "responsible for attacks threatening US citizens, partners, and innocent civilians."

"The removal of the facility will further degrade [al-Qaeda's] ability to conduct future attacks and destabilize the region," the statement added, without mentioning what kind of weaponry was used.

A war monitor said "at least 40" fighters were killed in what it called a missile strike.

The attack "targeted a meeting held by the leaders of Hurras al-Deen, Ansar al-Tawhid and other allied groups inside a training camp," the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Saturday.

Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reporting from Hatay, near the Syrian-Turkish border, said that sources on the ground said the area targeted was "a training centre connected with al-Qaeda."

"[The training centre] encouraged people from all ages, young boys to teenage men, to older men to come there for training, that's why we've seen videos where at least there is clearly one injured child," Smith said.

"This is an indication of the concern, not just that Turkey has and the Russians have, but also that the Americans have that in this last rebel held part of Syria there are these hardcore groups resisting," he added.

On July 1 the US said it had carried out a strike on the al-Qaeda-linked Hurras al-Deen armed group in north west Syria, in its first such operation there in two years.

The group and its ally Ansar al-Tawhid both operate in the Idlib region and are members of a joint operation room that also includes al-Qaeda's former Syria affiliate, Hay'et Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

Most of Idlib province and parts of neighbouring Aleppo and Latakia provinces are controlled by HTS.

Statement from U.S. Central Command on U.S. Forces strike against al-Qaida in Syria leadership in Idlib, Syria, Aug. 31, 2019.
U.S. Central Command TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 31, 2019 −
“U.S. Forces conducted a strike against al-Qaida in Syria (AQ-S) leadership at a facility north of Idlib, Syria, Aug. 31, 2019. This operation targeted AQ-S leaders responsible for attacks threatening U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians. Additionally, the removal of this facility will further degrade their ability to conduct future attacks and destabilize the region. Northwest Syria remains a safe haven where AQ-S leaders actively coordinate terrorist activities throughout the region and in the West. With our allies and partners, we will continue to target violent extremists to prevent them from using Syria as a safe haven.”
– Lt. Col. Earl Brown, CENTCOM Chief of Media Operations.

Ceasefire

Separately, Syrian government air raids on the Idlib region halted early on Saturday, after the government agreed to a Moscow-backed ceasefire following four months of deadly bombardment.

Russia-backed government forces have been pressing an offensive against the major opposition stronghold in Idlib since late April.

Syrian state news agency SANA on Saturday said the government agreed to the Idlib ceasefire deal, which Russia said aimed "to stabilise the situation" in the anti-government bastion.

But the army "reserves the right to respond to violations" by rebel groups, SANA added, citing a Syrian military source.

The Idlib region is home to some three million people, nearly half of whom have been displaced from other parts of Syria.

The United Nations says the violence has also displaced more than 400,000 people.

The region is supposed to be protected from a massive government offensive by a Turkish-Russian deal struck in September 2018 that was never fully implemented.

Turkey backs various rebel groups in north west Syria.

"Russia and the Syrian government may be willing to give Turkey another opportunity to implement the terms of its September 2018 bilateral agreement with Russia," said Sam Heller of the International Crisis Group.

"Alternately, this ceasefire may just be an operational pause for Damascus and Moscow to consolidate their territorial gains and prepare for the next phase of their offensive," he told AFP news agency.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whose forces control around 60 percent of territory, has vowed to reclaim the rest of the country, including Idlib.

Saturday's truce is the latest attempt to avert a full-blown offensive, which the UN has said would result in one of the worst humanitarian "nightmares" in Syria's eight-year conflict.

The Syrian conflict has killed more than 370,000 people and driven millions from their homes since it started with the brutal repression of anti-government protests in 2011.

Al-Jolani Collaborating with Washington to Prevent Dissolution of Tahrir Al-Sham
TEHRAN (FNA)- Ringleader of Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) Abu Mohammed al-Jolani has collaborated with Washington in the recent air raids on affiliated terrorist groups in Idlib with the aim of defeating Turkey's efforts to dissolve Tahrir al-Sham in Northern Syria.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper quoted sources affiliated to Tahrir al-Sham as saying on Monday that the recent US airstrikes against the terrorists' command centers between the towns of Kafraya and Ma'arat Misrin in Northern Idlib were carried out through the intel provided by al-Jolani to the US.

Relevant reports said on Sunday that Ankara had promised Moscow to dissolve Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at terrorist group in Northern Syria to return to the earlier-agreed Sochi agreement.

al-Watan newspaper quoted sources close to the National Liberation Front and Tahrir al-Sham as saying that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has in a recent meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin vowed to dissolve Tahrir al-Sham and other affiliated terrorist groups, including Horras al-Din and Ansar al-Touhid, within 8 days.

They said that the ceasefire declared by the Syrian army on Saturday was also in line with the agreement, adding that one of the conditions demanded by Syria was its army's control over a vast area of Hama-Idlib international road.

The sources underlined possible opposition of Tahrir al-Sham to Turkey's agreement with Russia, saying that based on the agreement, in case of Ankara's inability to implement its promises, the Russian and Syrian armies will resume their military operations towards the towns of Ma'arat al-No'eman and Saraqib on Hama-Idlib international road.

The Syrian Army on Saturday agreed to ceasefire in the demilitarized zone of Idlib after making massive advances in the Southern part of the province.

The Arabic-language SANA news agency quoted a battlefield source as saying that the Syrian Army has declared implementation of truce in the demilitarized zone while reiterating that it will respond to any violation of ceasefire by the terrorists.

After taking full control of al-Tamane’ah strategic town, the Syrian Army continued its advances in Southern Idlib and regained control of the towns of al-Khovein al-Kabir, al-Sakiat, Eastern and Western Farms of al-Tamane’ah, Tal Turki, Tal Sayyed Jafar and strategic Sayyed Ali Hilltop just one kilometer to the North of al-Tamane’ah that overlooks al-Azizieh-Tahtaya Road.

The battlefield sources also reported that the Syrian Army troops killed at least 37 Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at, Haras al-Din and Turkistani terrorists and destroyed several of their military vehicles and equipment.

https://twitter.com/syunsuke_takei

... https://facebook.com/satoru.utsumi/
