Report: Japan Urges US to Make Sure Sanctions Not Hurting Trade with Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso called on his US counterpart Steven Mnuchin to ensure that Japanese firms would not suffer from Washington's sanctions on Iran.

The Japanese minister told a press conference he had relayed to Mnuchin his

"I hope that Japan's concerns are addressed," Kyodo news agency quoted Aso as relaying to his US counterpart.

The US and Japanese finance ministers met in Bali, Indonesia, on the sidelines of a gathering of finance leaders from the Group of 20 major economies, which Mnuchin used to promote US sanctions snapping back against Iran's oil sector in about three weeks.

Japanese officials have said Iran's oil is "extremely important" to their country's energy security; Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Hiroshige Seko said last month Japan "intends to have talks with the US tenaciously in order to continue Iranian crude oil imports".

US President Donald Trump has pledged to bring Iran's oil imports down to zero. On Thursday, he said the US "will take care" of countries which defy the directive.

"We will take care of them," Trump told reporters when asked about the decision of some countries like India and China to continue to purchase oil from Iran.

Indian Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said last Monday that two state refiners have placed orders for importing crude oil from Iran in November.

True Friends: Source Says US Was Aware of Riyadh's Plan to Capture Saudi Journalist
TEHRAN (FNA)- A source revealed that before prominent Saudi journalist and regime critic Jamal Khashoggi’s disappearance, Washington had reached the vital information about Riyadh's decision to capture the WaPo columnist, raising speculation over American-Saudi joint scenario to get rid of Khashoggi.

Before the journalist’s disappearance, US intelligence intercepted communications of Saudi officials discussing a plan to capture him, a person familiar with the information said, adding that The Riyadh regime wanted to lure Khashoggi back to Saudi Arabia and lay hands on him there, according to The Washinton Post.

It was not clear whether the Saudis intended to arrest and interrogate Khashoggi or to kill him, or if the United States warned Khashoggi that he was a target, this person stated.

Khashoggi has been missing since he entered the Riyadh consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

‘Entire Middle East’ should look like Israel – Pompeo
Israel is everything the US wishes the Middle East would be, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared in a speech, while bashing the Obama administration’s approach to Iran as resembling a “Disney movie.”

Speaking at the annual Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) dinner in Washington on Wednesday, Pompeo argued that Israel “is democratic and prosperous, it desires peace, it is a home to a free press and a thriving economy,” calling it “everything we want the entire Middle East to look like going forward.”

Israel’s enemy number one Iran, meanwhile, has “corrupt leaders” who “assault the human rights of their own people and finance terrorism in every corner of the Middle East,” according to Pompeo.

Wasn't she supposed to serve US? Twitter unamused as IDF 'salutes' Haley for her support for Israel
A tweet from the IDF thanking Nikki Haley for her “unwavering support” for Israel has sparked an avalanche of snarky comments, with many pointing out that Haley was supposed to be the US, not Israeli, envoy to the UN.

In a surprise announcement on Tuesday, Haley resigned her post as Washington’s envoy to the United Nations. Haley’s departure ignited a Twitter storm of speculation about why she chose to step down, and what she’s planning next. Israel’s military, however, used the announcement as an opportunity to thank the retiring US diplomat for her service to the Jewish state.

"Thank you @nikkihaley for your service in the @UN and unwavering support for Israel and the truth. The soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces salute you!” the IDF’s official Twitter account wrote.

But the IDF’s appreciative “salute” to Haley was immediately swarmed with angry and sarcastic replies, with Twitter users accusing the former US envoy of putting Israel’s interests ahead of her own country’s.

“’Unwavering support’ aka, blind allegiance,” one Twitter user noted bluntly.

“You love her for the reasons the rest of us despise her,” another netizen shot back at the IDF. “She left the Human Rights Council, pulled the US out of Iran deal, slashed funds to UNRWA, moved embassy to Jerusalem, and was exaggerated in her support for the IDF when they abuse Palestinian human rights.”
