US, French special forces take part in SDF’s east Deir Ezzor offensive

French army in Deir ez-Zor? Photo shown by media raises questions about France’s role in Syrian war
A French army vehicle spotted in a photo taken in Deir ez-Zor province has led to questions about the extent of Paris’s involvement in the Syrian conflict. The image was reportedly shared by the US military on social media.

The vehicle in question is a wheeled armored personnel carrier equipped with a turret, which resembles the French army’s Aravis infantry mobility vehicle. It can be seen in the background of the photo, which purportedly shows US troops lending support to Syrian armed groups fighting Islamic State in the eastern province.

France 24 journalist Wassim Nasr was the first to draw attention to the picture. He said it was released by the US Special Ops Joint Task Force in Iraq and Syria on Wednesday, before being promptly removed – possibly at the request of French authorities.

France is part of the US-led coalition in Syria, and has been actively participating in the aerial campaign in the region. Notably, it was involved in a joint airstrike with the US and the UK in April following an alleged chemical attack on Douma, a then rebel-held suburb of Damascus.

The French government, however, has never said that it has troops on the ground in Deir ez-Zor.

But, the military vehicle in the photo has to be French, according to Nasr. “We know for sure that it is a French vehicle because of its mark – it is an Aravis,” he said, adding that “only the French Army and the Saudi Army” have such vehicles, and that the Saudis are not known to be present in Deir ez-Zor.

He also said that similar vehicles have been seen in Syria on “numerous occasions”, in the territories controlled by US-backed militants, such as Manbij. The journalist said that the picture was taken in August of this year.

While France 24 reported on the issue, neither the French Army nor the US military have commented so far.

The US Defense Secretary James Mattis, however, told Congress in late April that France had sent special forces to Syria, and “reinforced’ Washington in its fight against Islamic State, but didn’t go into further details. Deir ez-Zor province is one of the few remaining areas of the country where ISIL still maintains a presence.

RT could not independently verify the authenticity of the photo reported to have been shared by the U.S. military.

US sanctions 'bill from hell' targeting Russian debt could backfire on Western allies – analyst

US sanctions 'bill from hell' targeting Russian debt could backfire on Western allies – analyst
The proposed US sanctions targeting Russian bonds, OFZs, will likely hurt not only Moscow, but also numerous holders of such bonds in the West, an analyst has said.

The measure was proposed by a group of US senators lead by Republican Lindsey Graham. The senator said he planned a “sanctions bill from hell” to punish Russia because "the current sanctions regime has failed to deter Russia from meddling in the upcoming 2018 midterm elections."

But the US Congress is unlikely to pass the bill, which includes restrictions on Russian sovereign debt transactions, experts tell RT.

“Cracking down on seven largest Russian state banks, the way it is described in the US bill, is unlikely. How will these banks and companies working through them settle on debt and contractual obligations in dollars with Western counterparties?” according to Peter Pushkarev, chief analyst at TeleTrade.

The US sanctions threat has sent yields on 10-year benchmark OFZ bonds soaring to two-year highs of 8 to 9 percent in August and September, while their price plunged almost 10 percent below their nominal value.

According to Pushkarev, sanctions targeting Russian debt bonds are unlikely and are only a part of an election campaign before the midterm elections in the US Congress this year.

In any case, Russia has no dire need to issue additional $7.5 billion in bonds this year like it has planned. “The Central Bank's gold and foreign exchange reserves grew by $75 billion in a year, which is 10 times more than it could borrow with the OFZs. Moreover, oil prices remain high, which means Russia could wait for more than a year before issuing more OFZs,” Pushkarev said.

The Russian Finance Ministry has been canceling the recent OFZ options not because of lack of interest, but because it is not interested in paying inflated yields on the bonds, Pushkarev said. “The equation is simple: what is unprofitable for the Ministry of Finance, is profitable for investors.”

Trump May Soon Sack Mattis
TEHRAN (FNA)- US President Donald Trump has reportedly “soured” on Defense Secretary James Mattis – arguably the most important moderating force in the administration – and might dismiss the Pentagon chief after the midterm elections, according to reports.

The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times on Saturday published accounts of the increasingly frayed relationship between Trump and the retired Marine general whom the president used to revere.

Citing multiple administration and congressional officials, the reports noted that Mattis may either step down or be fired ahead of the upcoming elections in November due to growing differences with Trump on a number of fronts.

The president is looking to replace the Pentagon chief with someone "who would be more vocally supportive than Mr. Mattis, who is vehemently protective of the American military against perceptions it could be used for political purposes", the Times reported.

The report added that Trump appears resentful of unflattering comparisons between him and the four star general.

Trump has reportedly stopped calling Mattis “Mad Dog” and has instead begun calling him “Moderate Dog” behind closed doors, according to another report by Politico.

White House Spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told CNBC that the reports were all “completely untrue”.

The reported fray in the relationship could have been escalated by the latest political book to rock Washington --- Fear: Trump in the White House by veteran journalist Bob Woodward. The book attributes several quotes to Mattis that are highly critical of Trump.

In one instance, Woodward writes that Mattis vented his frustration to a group of confidants, saying Trump appeared to have an understanding of “a fifth or sixth grader". The Pentagon chief, however, has rebuked the book as "fiction" and a "product of someone's rich imagination".

The Israeli Air Force targeted a cargo plane that traveled from Iran to the Damascus

Israel allegedly killed 113 Iranian soldiers in past 2 months – monitor
BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – At least 113 Iranian soldiers and militiamen have been killed in the past two months in Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) claimed on Monday.

According to the SOHR report, the Iranian soldiers and militiamen were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes on Syrian government installations.

Furthermore, the SOHR alleged that at least 140 Iranian soldiers and militiamen were killed by the Israeli forces in the last five months.

Neither Iran nor Syria have corroborated these claims as of yet.

The death tolls from the Israeli attacks on Masyaf and the Damascus International Airport were very low, so it is not clear where the SOHR got these numbers from.

Syrian military says Israeli attack failed to destroy Iranian cargo plane
BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 A.M.) – The Israeli Air Force launched a powerful attack on the Damascus International Airport over the weekend that caused several explosions around the capital city.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Israeli Air Force targeted an Iranian cargo plane that was likely transporting weapons to the Syrian military.

In response to the Israeli attack, the Syrian air defense attempted to intercept the missiles before they could reach their intended targets at the Damascus International Airport.

The Syrian air defense did manage to down several Israeli missiles during the brief exchange.

The Syrian military would later report that their air defense repelled the Israeli attack, adding that the Iranian cargo plane was untouched during the bombardment.

This latest attack by the Israeli Air Force marks the second time this year that they have targeted the Damascus International Airport.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:10 A.M.) – The Israeli Air Force targeted a cargo plane that traveled from Iran to the Damascus International Airport, yesterday, a source in Syria’s capital city told Al-Masdar this morning.

According to the source, the Israeli Air Force fired several missiles towards the cargo that was removed from the plane.

The source said that the Iranian cargo plane was likely transporting weapons to Syria,.

While some of the Israeli missiles were intercepted, a number of them still hit the Damascus Airport and its surrounding area.

This latest attack by the Israeli Air Force comes just days after they targeted the town of Masyaf in the western countryside of the Hama Governorate.

Breaking: Israeli Air Force bombs Damascus International Airport
BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 P.M.) – For the second time this month, the Israeli Air Force has bombed a Syrian government installation at night.

According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent, the Israeli Air Force heavily bombarded the Damascus International Airport, prompting their air defenses to attempt to intercept the attack.

While the state media maintains the attack was repelled, a source near the airport said that the Israeli attack managed to score direct hits on the installation.

No information was released on the casualties.

This is the second time this year that the Israeli Air Force has bombed the Damascus Airport; they previously targeted a weapons shipment that arrived from Iran.

Turkey threatening to launch Tel Rifaat offensive if Syrian Army attacks Idlib

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:45 P.M.) – Turkey is attempting to persuade Russia and Iran to force the Syrian Army to halt their offensive plans in northwest Syria, a military source in Damascus told Al-Masdar this afternoon.

According to the source, Turkey is seeking an open-ended ceasefire that would be observed by their troops, Russia, and Iran.

In order to disuade the Idlib operation, Turkey has allegedly threatened to launch an offensive at the key town of Tal Rifa’at, the source added.

Over the last few weeks, the Turkish military has gradually built-up their forces near Tal Rifa’at, prompting the Syrian Army to respond by sending reinforcements to the nearby town of Deir Jamal.

This show of force by Turkey has raised alarms in Damascus, as Tal Rifa’at is located just north of Aleppo city and the government strongholds of Al-Zahra’a and Nubl.

While negotiations are still ongoing between Ankara and Moscow regarding Idlib, the Syrian Army has continued to beef up their forces in both Hama and Latakia, signifying that an offensive is imminent in these provinces.

Ex-Terrorist Commander: ISIL Supported by Turkey in Northern Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- A former foreign terrorist commander disclosed that Turkey has armed the ISIL terrorist group in Northern Syria.

Samir Bukana nom de guerre Abu Abdullah al-Mohajer, a former commander of the ISIL with Moroccan origin and Italian nationality, who was responsible for transferring weapons from Turkey to Syria for the ISIL, told the Kurdish-language Hawar News on Saturday that the foreign terrorists entered Northern Syria with the help of Turkey's intelligence agency.

Bukana, who was arrested by the Kurdish forces as he was running away to Turkey, added that he entered Jabal al-Akrad region in Syria's Lattakia province along with a group of foreign ISIL terrorists after residing in a camp belonging to the Turkish intelligence agency in Antakya.

He said that the ISIL terrorists in Northern Syria received orders from Turkey, and added that they withdrew to the Turkish lands after fighting against the Syrian army forces in Lattakia for a while upon Ankara's order and then were dispatched to Northern Aleppo to fight against the Kurds after receiving weapons and military equipment.

Bukana, who was also ISIL's man in charge of recruiting foreign forces from the European states to fight Syria, said Turkey provides security for the terrorists and, for instance, denied to extradite an Australian terrorist to Canberra in one of such cases.

In a relevant development on Saturday, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that a sum of 185 trucks, carrying arms and ammunition, have been forwarded by the Turkish army to regions held by the Ankara-backed militants in Idlib and Hama provinces.

SOHR said that a sum of 185 Trucks, carrying a large volume of weapons and munitions including missiles, were forwarded by the Turkish army via Kafr Lusin border-crossing to the regions that are under the control of the National Liberation Front in Idlib and Hama provinces.

SOHR Further said that the Turkish army has sent tens of convoys of arms and ammunition to Syria via Kafr Lusin border-crossing as the Syrian and Russian fighter jets were not carrying out combat flights over the region in the last few days.

In the meantime, the Lebanese al-Manar News Network reported on Friday that almost a hundred military vehicles of Turkish army crossed the border with Syria and entered Northern Idlib.

AMN:BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:15 P.M.) – Tensions reportedly erupted between local residents and Syrians in Bursa’s commercial district on Thursday night.
Police forces intervened to disperse the crowds gathered in the market after stores were attacked with rocks following an alleged fight between Syrian and Turkish residents.
According to local media, residents attacked Syrian-owned shops and houses in the commercial district and shouted slogans against Syrians.

Belgium extradites ISIS suspect to Russia
A Russian national accused of financing militants of the Islamic State terrorist organization (outlawed in Russia) in Syria has been extradited from Belgium, a source in the Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the Russian Federal Security Service told TASS.

“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in association with the Russian General Prosecutor’s Office, the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) at the Russian Interior Ministry and the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service have extradited a Russian citizen Ali Abdul-Mutalipovich Gekhayev, born in 1988, who is on the international wanted list, from Belgium. Being a supporter of radical Islam, Gekhayev has lived full-time on the territory of the European Union countries since 2015, from which he provided financial support to the militants of the international terrorist organization ‘Islamic State’ banned in the Russian Federation in Syria,” the CPR said.

In May 2017, based on the finding of the Russian side the accused was detained in Brussels and placed under pre-extradition arrest, the Center for Public Relations said.

“As a result of coordinated efforts of Russian law enforcement bodies the supplied evidence of criminal activity of the wanted person allowed the Belgian authorities to comply with the extradition request,” the CPR added.

On September 14, Gekhayev was extradited to Russia. Further investigative activities and search measures are being carried out.

RT editor-in-chief’s exclusive interview with Skripal case suspects Petrov & Boshirov (TRANSCRIPT)

英国は自らの主張を繰り返し、このインタビューについて as an ‘insult to the public's intelligence'と述べています。「公衆の知性に対する侮辱」あるいは「公の情報機関」に対する侮辱でしょうか。

A spokesman for UK Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday described an interview of Skripal case suspects, Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, with Russia’s RT channel as an ‘insult to the public's intelligence', TASS reported.

‘UK cornered itself claiming Petrov & Boshirov were perpetrators’ – analysts on Skripal poisoning
Whatever revelations may pop up, the UK will stick to its vague version of the Salisbury poisoning incident, analysts said on the heels of an exclusive RT interview with Britain’s Skripal case suspects.

The interview with Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, named as suspects in the Salisbury poisoning, appeared on RT on Thursday. Speaking to RT editor-in-chief, Maragarita Simonyan both said they had been wrongly accused by the UK of attempted murder of the ex-Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter.

Although they claimed they went there to see the sights, the British were quick to denounce the interview as a blow to the “public’s intelligence.” RT has been told that no matter what, the UK will not change its view on the matter.

“The British government locked itself into the corner, into a certain position” insisting Petrov and Boshirov were the perpetrators, said Martin McCauley, author and Russia analyst. “Therefore it cannot say: ‘Sorry, we made a terrible mistake here’. Because it will lose face if it did that.”

After London expelled numerous Russian diplomats and after sanctions were imposed on Russia, “you can’t really go back and say ‘the evidence is not there, we back away from that’.” From a credibility point of view, the British government must stick to that position, McCauley asserted.

Asked what could persuade London of the pair’s innocence, he responded: “I can’t see anything which could really change the British government’s attitude and its conviction that these two men were perpetrators, that they were the ones who brought Novichok into the country.”

Neil Clark, a UK-based journalist and writer, said he would dig deeper into the story to try to find other missing pieces in the puzzle. “And the CCTV coverage as well… we didn’t see any footage of the Skripals on the day of the poisoning,” he told RT. He lamented that the UK claims revolve around “this limited footage of these two suspects.”

Just days ago the UK government and the mainstream media suggested that these men would be dead by now, he continued, referring to a Daily Mail interview with Andrey Piontkovsky, a leading Russia critic. “That was the official narrative three days ago. And then what happens? These men contact RT and are interviewed.”

“And then, of course, it is forgotten that we were told they are already dead,” Clark said. “The story then changes to what they said was a pack of lies.” The other blank spot is the timeline of events, he said.

“If these two men – the suspects – arrived in Salisbury at 11.40am and the Skripals left their home at 9.15am how was it they were poisoned on the door handle of their home?” Clark asked before adding: “We got no evidence that they actually returned home. We got no CCTV of this, and this is interesting.”

Skripal, a former Russian double agent, was poisoned along with his daughter in central Salisbury in March. The UK pinned the blame on Russia for the incident, with Prime Minister Theresa May claiming that Petrov and Boshirov were members of the GRU, Russia’s military intelligence service. Earlier this week, President Vladimir Putin dismissed the claim, saying the two were civilians with no criminal background.

UK claims men in RT interview were GRU intelligence agents despite their denial
The UK Foreign Office doubled down on their claim that Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov are officers in Russian military intelligence, after the pair professed their innocence during an interview with RT.

The pair had said they had been wrongly accused by the UK of attempted murder of ex-Russian double agent Sergei Skripal, and his daughter Yulia, in Salisbury in March, stating they were in the city for tourism.

Following the interview's broadcast, UK government spokesperson told RT: “The Police and Crown Prosecution Service have identified these men as the prime suspects in relation to the attack in Salisbury.

“The Government is clear these men are officers of the Russian military intelligence service – the GRU – who used a devastatingly toxic, illegal chemical weapon on the streets of our country.

“We have repeatedly asked Russia to account for what happened in Salisbury in March. Today – just as we have seen throughout - they have responded with obfuscation and lies.”

Speaking to reporters, Prime Minister Theresa May's spokesperson labelled the interview "an insult to the public's intelligence" and "deeply offensive."

The Foreign Office’s claim was backed up by John Glen MP, the lawmaker whose constituency includes Salisbury.

Despite the UK's claims, many questions remain over the pair's guilt.

Analysts told RT that the men either wanted to be noticed on purpose or were just two ridiculously clumsy “agents," as the surveillance cameras captured a large proportion of their movements around Salisbury.

Speaking to RT, Charles Shoebridge, a former British military officer, stressed that it’s very strange for well-trained Russian intelligence specialists to leave such a “reckless and clear trail of evidence” that would lead the investigation directly to Russia.

Annie Machon, a former MI5 intelligence officer, said she doubts Moscow’s alleged motive, noting that pieces of evidence presented to the public will never be “tried forensically in court," adding that there are some "big holes" in the chain of evidence.

Russian President Vladimir Putin denies the two men are military intelligence officers in the GRU, insisting they are civilians and there is nothing criminal about them.

Following the British allegations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated: “Neither Russia’s top leadership nor those with lower ranks, and [Russian] officials, have had anything to do with the events in Salisbury."

Russia completes replacement of Ukrainian imports in defense industry – deputy PM

The Russian defense industry has completed the replacement of Ukraine-produced products needed for the production of weapons and military hardware by Russia-produced analogues, a senior Russian official says.

“The question of [Russia’s] dependence on deliveries from Ukraine has been closed and it is now closed for good. All vulnerable points that we really had in 2014 are now in the past,” Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Yuri Borisov said.

Borisov said the major replacement programs concern engines for Russian helicopters, previously produced by Ukrainian company Motor Sich, and turbines for navy ship engines. These parts are now being produced by Russian companies NPO Saturn and ODK Klimov. He added that before 2014, Ukrainian companies supplied a lot of electronic components for Russian-made weapons, but that these deliveries were not crucial as most concerned spare parts for products made in Soviet times.

“We are completing the tests and certification for these types of hardware and from the current moment we supply the Russian-made engines to our defense producers,” the deputy PM was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

Yuri Borisov was appointed deputy PM in charge of the military-industrial sector in May, replacing Dmitry Rogozin, who had occupied the post since 2011.

In his report to the parliament in mid-2015, Rogozin promised that by 2018 the defense industry would completely overcome the dependence on Ukraine-made components and greatly decrease the proportion of parts imported from EU and NATO countries.

Rogozin also stated in the report that although Western sanctions had certain negative effects on Russian weapon production, export orders for defense products remained high and Russia continued to occupy one of the leading places in the global arms trade.

‘Chlorine delivered’: Idlib militants ‘readying false flag attack’ in Syrian village – Russian MoD
Militants in Syria’s Idlib have transported several canisters containing chlorine to the village of Bsanqul, apparently preparing to stage a false flag chemical attack, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.

The chlorine-filled canisters were delivered by the Al-Qaeda-affiliated militants of Tahrir al Sham, formerly known as Al-Nusra Front, a spokesman of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, Lieutenant General Vladimir Savchenko, said in a statement Saturday. He added that the latest developments showed that the militants are preparing for a false flag attack that would be used to accuse the Syrian government of using chemical weapons against its people.

This is the latest warning from the Russian military on what it says is a chemical “provocation” in the making. On Wednesday, it said the White Helmets group has shot videos intended to be used in framing the Syrian government. Earlier, the MoD said toxic chemicals had been delivered Idlib and accused the White Helmets of carrying out the delivery.

The US and its allies have so far dismissed the Russian warnings, but said that the government in Damascus might instead be preparing chemical attacks against civilians. Moscow has suggested that the attack might be prepared with the support of Washington, which wants to justify further air strikes against Syria. Those planned strikes are said to be much larger in scale than those launched against the Syrian military by the US, the UK and France in April.

Terrorists, White Helmets to Possibly Stage False-Flag Chemical Attack in Hama Province on Friday
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Al-Nusra front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) and pro-militants White Helmet Organization will possibly state a false flag chemical attack in Northern and Northwestern Hama on Friday and will make a fake video to raise allegation against Damascus forces, field sources told a media outlet.

Sputnik quoted the sources as saying that Al-Nusra Front and allied groups will possibly state a chemical attack in Northern and Northwestern Hama with cooperation of the White Helmets on Friday.

It further said that the terrorist groups planned the attack on Thursday, adding that the attack will possibly start after Friday Prayers.

Sputnik went on to say that Al-Nusra along with Jeish al-Izzah and al-Turkistani Islamic and a number of White Helmets will pave the ground for the fake attack to make video and accuse the Syrian Army of launching the gas attack against its people.

It said that a number Turkish and foreign media activists will move towards al-Latamina and Kafr Zita and al-Ghaab Plain.

Sputnik further said that the terrorists did not allow civilians in Idlib to travel to Northern Hama and al-Ghaab Plain, claiming that they are military zones, adding that the terrorists will target the Syrian Army positions after Friday Prayers to force them to react and then they will stage their fake chemical attack and will make a video of rescuing people in the scene of fake gas attack.

Later, a number of people will announce in English and Arabic languages that a chemical attack has been occurred, Sputnik said, adding that later a number of kidnapped children will be transferred to hospitals in Jisr al-Shughour in Western Idlib, Northern Hama and Northwestern Hama.

In the meantime, the White Helmets had said that the Syrian Army must be provoked on Friday to launch attacks in Hama as the Syrian and Russian fighter jets have halted targeting terrorists' positions in Northwestern Hama.

The Arabic-language service of Sputnik news agency quoted informed sources in Idlib as saying on Thursday that the terrorist groups prepared several scenes for false-flag chemical attacks in different regions, including al-Ghaab Plain, Northern Hama and Jisr al-Shughour.

They added that Tahrir al-Sham terrorists have prepared 12 civilians who speak English well in Idlib to contact foreign media after the chemical attack and transferred them to several regions in Jisr al-Shughour, al-Ghaab Plain and Northern Hama.

Also, a new meeting was held in one of Tahrir al-Sham strongholds in Idlib in which a number of Tahrir al-Sham commanders, White Helmets and local camerapersons of foreign news agencies participated for last coordination to launch the imminent chemical attack.

The sources added that Tahrir al-Sham terrorists have adopted a new strategy after their past plans were disclosed and their security bureaus have spread contradictory rumors in the past two days for false-flag chemical attacks to divert attentions from the regions for real attacks.

They said that Jeish al-Izzah terrorists had received a new cargo of 5 capsules containing chlorine gas from Tahrir al-Sham commanders and White Helmets and transferred them to one of their newly-built strongholds in a tunnel between the two towns of al-Latamina and Kafr Zita West of the town of Latmin in Northern Hama.

Based on the report, given the fact that the terrorists have prepared precise plans for false-flag operations, there is a possibility for real chemical attacks in Idlib and Hama.

Sources close to the terrorist groups' commanders in Idlib also said that one of the businesspersons of the town of Sarmada has supplied Turkistani militants in al-Ghaab Plain and terrorists in Northern Hama and Jisr al-Shughour the with advanced camera and editing systems as well as satellite transmitters.

White Helmets making films of 'chemical attacks' with children in Idlib – Russian military

The White Helmets have shot at least nine videos intended to serve as proof in accusations that the Syrian government conducted a chemical weapon attack using chlorine against civilians in Idlib, the Russian military claims.

A number of Middle Eastern TV channels and a regional affiliate of a US broadcaster “have shot nine videos, in Jisr al-Shughur city in Idlib province, of a staged chemical attack” that will be blamed on the Syrian government, the Russian Reconciliation Center In Syria said in a statement on Wednesday.

All videos show activists from the White Helmets group, which purportedly provides assistance to civilians, the statement claims.

The Russian military details that on September 11, the White Helmets and terrorists from Tahrir al-Sham (commonly known as Al-Qaeda in Syria) held a meeting following the filming process, in which they selected two out of nine videos for future transfer to the United Nations and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). The remaining videos are to be used for propaganda on social media networks due to the poor quality, the military claims.

At the same time, since September 9, the White Helmets have been staging rehearsals of an alleged chemical attack in Khan Shaykhun, Russian officials say in the same statement, claiming that the rehearsals feature up to 30 civilians, including a dozen children aged 8-12.

Further claims by the Russian military indicate the White Helmets, along with the terrorists, are preparing an “actual use of poisonous chorine-based substances” on the people participating in the filming of the fake videos.

Russia has ‘zero evidence’ proving Syrian opposition has chemical weapons – Mattis
BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 A.M.) – U.S. Secretary of Defense, James Mattis, said on Tuesday that the Russian government has no evidence to prove that the Syrian opposition has the capabilities to produce chemical weapons.

“And right now we see zero evidence that the opposition has any chemical capability, notwithstanding what Russia has been broadcasting repeatedly,” Mattis said.

When asked about the U.S.’ response to a future chemical weapons attack by the Syrian government, the U.S. Secretary of Defense refused to answer the reporter’s question.

The U.S. maintains that the Syrian government has been the only party in the seven-year long war that has used chemical weapons inside the country.

‘We have undeniable proof of planned provocations against Damascus’ – Russian Ambassador
BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:25 P.M.) – Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya claimed to have “undeniable proof” of provocations being prepared to discredit the Syrian government while speaking at a United Nations Security Council meeting in New York City on Tuesday.

He added that “the use of chemical weapons by Damascus has no military grounds and is harmful from the military and political point of view as it would be an invitation for the Western trio to attack Syria.”

Filming of staged chemical attack in Syrian Idlib begins - Russian MoD
Footage, meant to serve as proof that the Syrian government has conducted a chemical weapons attack in Idlib, Syria, is to be handed to global news outlets by the end of Tuesday, the Russian military claims.

Several Middle East TV channels and a US news channel have been sent to Jisr al-Shughur in Syria’s Idlib Governorate to produce the footage needed for the provocation, a statement by the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation said. It added the intelligence came from local residents of Jisr al-Shughur.

“All the footage of the staged provocation in Jisr al-Shughur is to be delivered to the newsrooms of TV channels, which are to broadcast it after its publication on social media,” the statement claimed.

It also said that an Islamist group was provided with two canisters of a “chlorine-based chemical” for the purpose of the operation.

The Russian military said the footage would include scenes of White Helmets operatives treating supposed victims of an apparent barrel bomb chemical weapon attack by Damascus.

Moscow has repeatedly warned that a false flag chemical weapon attack was being prepared in Idlib, giving the US and its allies justification to attack Syrian government forces. Senior US officials have threatened Damascus with retaliation if it uses chemical weapons in Idlib and even preemptively assigned the blame for any such attack to the government.

Russian MoD: Staged Filming of Mock 'Chemical Attacks' Has Begun in Idlib
TEHRAN (FNA)- As the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation reported, all the fake footage of "chemical attacks", designed to facilitate the implication of Syrian government forces, is expected to be sent to different TV channels before the end of the day.

"According to the information received from inhabitants of Idlib province, militants are now filming a staged provocation in the city of Jisr al-Shoghour, where "chemical weapons" are depicted as being used by the Syrian army against civilians. The film crews of several Middle Eastern TV channels arrived in Jisr al-Shoghour in the morning, as well as the regional affiliate of one of the main American television news networks", the Reconciliation Center said, Sputnik reported.

The Russian military added that the militants had brought two containers with chlorine-based toxic substance to Jisr al-Shoghour to make provocation seem "natural".

"The plot envisages staged scenes showing 'activists' of the Civil Defence ("White Helmets") 'helping' the residents of Jisr al-Shoghour after the Syrian army allegedly used the so-called barrel bombs with poisonous substances," the center noted.

According to the center, all videos of provocations shot in Jisr al-Shoghour will be handed to broadcasters by the end of the day after being released in social media.

The information followed the Sunday's report by the Wall Street Journal, saying that the US Defense Department might be mulling the idea of striking Russian or Iranian military forces aiding the Syrian government if they were to launch an assault on Idlib. The report added that the United States would specifically decide whether to strike Russian air defense installations.

Meanwhile, the Syrian government has pledged to drive the remaining terrorists out of Idlib and has begun taking steps toward full-scale military operations in the territory.

The Russian Ministry of Defense warned about the forthcoming false flag provocation, which will involve a staged chlorine gas attack, in late August. Later, the defense ministry said that the results of this provocation could be used by the Western coalition forces as an excuse to launch another missile strike against the Syrian government. The United States, the Russian Defense Ministry noted, has been deploying the relevant forces to Syria. In late August, the American destroyer USS The Sullivans arrived in the Persian Gulf carrying 56 cruise missiles, and a US Air Force B-1B strategic bomber, equipped with 24 air-to-surface JASSM cruise missiles, was redeployed to El-Udeid Airbase in Qatar.

This is not the first time the coalition forces strike the Syrian government positions, citing alleged chemical attacks by the government forces. Thus, on April 14, the United States, the United Kingdom and France launched over 100 missiles on multiple targets in Syria in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack in the Eastern Ghouta city of Douma that reportedly took place on April 7. The Syrian government has denied using chemical weapons and said that the Jeish al-Islam terror group staged the attack to justify foreign intervention in the country.

No lessons learned: Next financial crisis to be much worse with US dollar collapse – Peter Schiff
A decade after the global financial crisis, the world is facing another crash even bigger than the one in 2008, veteran stock broker Peter Schiff, CEO of Euro Pacific Capital, told RT.

“The too big to fail banks are now both bigger than ever, and more exposed than ever to rising rates and recession. So the systemic risks to the economy are greater now than they were in 2008,” said Schiff.

Such banks should have been allowed to fail a decade ago, he says. “The moral hazard associated with the government having made the mistake of bailing out banks that should have been allowed to fail. Unfortunately, no lessons were learned from the last crisis. We repeated, and expanded all the mistakes that caused the last crisis, ensuring the next one will be much worse,” he said.

According to the investor, all the problems that caused the 2008 financial crisis loom even larger now. “The even worse monetary and fiscal policy since the last crisis guarantees the next one will be much worse. The crisis will be similar in that government will be the cause, everyone will be caught by surprise, and capitalism will be the scapegoat, but it will be much different in that it will be much worse,” Schiff said.

However, the nature of the next crisis would be different, Schiff predicts. While the 2008 crisis was centered around mortgage debt, dollar rise and gold fall, the new one would be about the US Treasury debt crisis. “Treasury debt will be the focal point of the next crisis, and the dollar will collapse and gold prices will soar. The ensuing recession will be much worse as consumer prices will also rise sharply.”
