US Senator: Britain's MI6 Planning False Flag Operation in Syria

US Senator: Britain's MI6 Planning False Flag Operation in Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- Virginia state senator Richard Black said said Britain’s MI6 intelligence service is planning a chemical weapons attack on the Syrian people to later blame President Bashar Assad and attack Syria.

“Around four weeks ago, we knew that British intelligence was working towards a chemical attack in order to blame the Syrian government, to hold Syria responsible,” Black said on al-Mayadeen news channel.

Later, Black added that he meant the British were planning not to carry out an attack themselves, but to either direct militants to do so or stage a phoney attack, with actors posing as victims.

In late August, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov disclosed that UK Special Services are preparing to launch another fake chemical attack in Syria as a pretext for the West to conduct missile strikes. Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov also declared in the same month the foreign “English-speaking specialists” are planning to stage an attack using “poisonous agents”, noting that a group of residents is currently being prepared “to take part in the staging of the attack” and be seen suffering from “’supposedly chemical munitions’ and ‘barrel bombs’ launched by the Syrian government forces”.

The senator also disclosed that some chemical attacks previously reported to have occurred in Syria were British fakes, pulled off with help from “White Helmets”.

“From what I can tell, they have been planning a fake attack, not a genuine one, but one where they actually move people out of a town and they have trained people to portray victims of a gas attack,” Black said Friday in an interview with The Washington Post, adding that “and the plan is to use the White Helmets who have always been involved in these notorious deceptions, to portray an attack”.

The Russian military revealed Saturday that the militants plotted the final scenarios for the chemical attacks that the Syrian army are expected to make in the cities of Jisr al-Shoughur, Saraqib, Taftnaz and Sarmin.

In August, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that eight canisters of chlorine had been delivered to a village near Jisr al-Shoughur city, and that a foreign-trained group of militants had also arrived in the area to simulate a rescue operation after the staged attack.

Moscow has repeatedly warned that the al-Qaeda-linked the Nusra Front, was planning a chemical attack against civilians in Idlib in order to provoke Western nations into retaliating against Damascus government. Thousands of militants have been reportedly transported to the province from other Syrian regions under deals conducted with Damascus.

White Helmets group also plans to film videos in Syria for Middle Eastern and English-language media outlets after staging a false-flag chemical weapons attack aimed at sharply destabilizing the situation in the war-torn country, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. Moscow has also accused Washington, London and Paris of preparing to carry out new strikes against Syria under the pretext of chemical weapons use by Damascus government forces.

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of a 2013 chemical weapons attack in Syria's Eastern Ghouta, the United Kingdom, the United States and France released a statement warning that they "will respond appropriately to any further use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime". The statement also called on supporters of Syrian President Bashar Assad to "use their influence to uphold the global norm against chemical weapons use".

The first Western missile attack on Syrian government forces was conducted by the United States in April 2017 after Washington had accused Damascus of being behind the alleged chemical weapons use in the settlement of Khan Sheikhoun in the Idlib province.

The US, UK, and France coordinated a massive airstrike on Syria in April 2018 after the alleged use of the chemical weapons in Douma in Eastern Damascus had been reported by the controversial "White Helmets" NGO, which has repeatedly been caught staging false flag attacks. OPCW experts announced in July they had found traces of organic substances containing chlorine, reportedly used in the attack in Eastern Ghouta.

Damascus has strongly denied the claims, with the Syrian president saying that the attack was a provocation aimed to justify the US strike on Syria.

+226 ISIS militants killed in east Swaida offensive: monitor group
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:50 A.M.) – At least 226 Islamic State militants have been killed so far in battles with the Syrian forces in east Swaida pocket, a monitor group says.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that up to 95 Syrian Army soldiers and pro-government fighters have been reported dead in the same offensive.

The Syrian casualties also include members of the Lebanese resistance Hezbollah group.

Fierce clashes are currently taking place in Safa Hilltops; the last ISIS bastion in the area.

The terror group is making use of the rocky cliffs surrounding the Safa Hilltops in order to fortify themselves and make it harder for the government troops to advance.

FSB arrests ISIS member 'who planned murder of one of Donbass leaders on behalf of Ukraine'

FSB arrests ISIS member 'who planned murder of one of Donbass leaders on behalf of Ukraine'
The Russian security service, the FSB, says it has arrested an Islamic State operative who was planning to murder one of the leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) on behalf of the Ukrainian authorities.
The suspected terrorist was identified as Mejid Magomedov, born in 1988 in Russia’s southern Dagestan republic. The law enforcement arrested him in Russia’s Smolensk region in the west of the country.

The man said he was involved in a plot to assassinate a senior rebel commander in eastern Ukraine. He said the mission was given to him by Ukraine’s SBU security service in coordination with right-wing extremists from the Right Sector movement, the FSB said.

The man further claimed that “the national special services of Ukraine provide on its territory active support to fighters of the international terrorist organization Islamic State, offering them security, funding, weapons and explosives to organize terrorist attacks on the territory of Russia,” the FSB statement said.

Magomedov is said to have visited Ukraine in early 2018, seeking assistance for an IS-affiliated group operating in southern Russia. The FSB says he was consequently ordered by the Ukrainian intelligence to assassinate a military commander of a rebel militia unit of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic living in Smolensk region in Russia.

After arriving in Russia, Magomedov retrieved from a cache the means for the planned crime, including information on the marks and weapons to kill the man. During his arrest, the law enforcement seized an improvised explosive device estimated at 1.5 kg of TNT equivalent, a handgun with a silencer and rounds for it.

Saudi King’s brother ‘considering self-exile’ after Yemen war criticism – report

Saudi King’s brother ‘considering self-exile’ after Yemen war criticism – report
The brother of King Salman is pondering whether he should return to Saudi Arabia after criticising the King and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the war in Yemen, the Middle East Eye reports.

Earlier this week Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, one of the few remaining sons of the kingdom's founder, told Yemeni and Bahraini protesters outside his London home that the entire Al Saud family should not be blamed for the war in Yemen.

"There are certain individuals who are responsible. Don’t involve anyone else," the prince said.

When asked who the individuals were, the prince said it "the king and the crown prince, and others in the state". "In Yemen and elsewhere, our hope is that the war ends today before tomorrow," he added.

After his comments were posted online the prince is considering not returning to Saudi Arabia, according to a report by the Middle East Eye (MEE). The UK-based website credits a source close to the prince and claims Ahmed stands by his remarks despite a press release from the Saudi Press Agency describing his comments as “misinterptered”.

"He said the report by state controlled SPA was fake and that the words quoted by the agency were not his," MEE reported.

Prince Ahmed previously served as interior minister in 2012 under the late King Abdullah before he was replaced by Prince Mohammed bin Nayef. This is the first time a high ranking member of the Al Saud family has broken the code of silence. If the prince publically confirms his decision to exile himself, it would be an unprecedented challenge to King Salman’s rule.

Report: Turkish Army Keeps 50,000 Terrorists on Alert for Battle against Syrian Army in Idlib
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Turkish army has put over 50,000 gunmen of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) on alert to use them in the battlefields against the Syrian Army troops in Idlib province, a Turkish-language paper claimed on Monday.

Yeni Safak daily claimed that the Turkish army has kept more than 50,000 FSA terrorists on alert in Afrin, Azaz, Jarabulus, al-Bab and al-Rai regions to further sent them to battle against the Syrian government forces' operation in Idlib province.

It further said that 30,000 FSA gunmen are in regions under the occupation of the Operation Euphrates Shield and Operation Olive Branch forces, "and a sum 20,000 FSA fighters are to be transferred to Idlib to counter the Damascus forces' upcoming operation".

The daily went on to say that Turkish army has urged its allied militants to report the exact number of their gunmen and volume of arms and ammunition.

It said that the Turkish army has in recent days sent a number of cannons and missile launchpads to the borders with Syria and has reinvigorated its forces' combat capabilities.

The London-based pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported earlier today that .Jeish al-Islam terrorist group has deployed its fighters at contact lines with the Syrian Army in Eastern Aleppo after coordination with Turkey-backed militants.

SOHR said that Jeish al-Islam has started deploying militants in more than ten contact points with the Syrian Army in Tadif in Northeastern Aleppo after coordination with Ankara-backed Ahrar al-Sharqiyeh.

It further said that Jeish al-Islam set up a large base in the town of Afrin after retreating from Eastern Ghouta, adding Jeish al-Islam stationed its fighters in Afrin base.

SOHR said that Jeish al-Islam has also set up several bases in Aleppo province.

In the meantime, the Syrian Army dispatched more troops and equipment to the contact lines with Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) in a large region from Jam'iyat al-Zahra and al-Lairamoun industrial zone up to the small town of Kafr Hamra in Northwestern Aleppo and from al-Malah farms to the small towns of Haraytan, Hayan, Anadan and Bayanoun in Northern Aleppo.

Also, the army has forwarded a large number of forces and military hardware to contact lines with Ankara-backed terrorists known as the Olive Branch Forces in Aleppo province.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:45 A.M.) – A massive Turkish military convoy entered the Idlib Governorate from the Hatay Province, tonight, opposition activists reported.

According to the Syrian opposition activists, the Turkish military convoy consisted of more than 300 vehicles, including tanks, MLRS launchers, and BMPs.

The Turkish military convoy reportedly entered Syria through the Kafr Losen Crossing; it was heading towards the rebel front-lines in the Idlib and Hama governorates.

Some opposition activists have claimed that the Turkish military was heading to the Idlib Governorate with manpads, which, if true, would mean that they are preparing to down any Syrian warplane flying over their positions.

Turkey appears to not be backing down from the Syrian government forces, despite the fact that the latter is backed by Ankara’s allies: Iran and Russia.

We are ‘working hard’ to prevent Idlib op. – Cavusoglu
BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 A.M.) – Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Turkey is “working hard” to prevent the Syrian Army from conducting a planned operation to clear Idlib of militants, during a speech in Antalya, Saturday.

“We are working hard to prevent a new humanitarian disaster and to stop the clashes at the bilateral and trilateral level, like yesterdays meeting in Tehran,” stated Cavusoglu.

“We will keep working hard to prevent new migrations, to prevent people to leave their homes and to prevent hundreds, thousands of people to die. If we stop, no one would care about this subject,” continued the Turkish Foreign Minister.

“Everybody’s common rhetoric, whether they like us or not, is that ‘if this [Idlib operation] can be prevented, then it is Turkey that can do [prevent] it,” he added.

Turkey responds to Russian attack by reinforcing Idlib
BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:00 P.M.) – The Turkish military is working on reinforcing its observation outposts in northern Syria before the long-awaited Idlib offensive kicks off.
A fresh convoy for the Turkish Army has recently entered Syria from the Hatay Province for this exact purpose, pro-opposition activists reported.
The convoy transported concrete walls and fortifications to their observation post near Morek in northern Hama countryside.
While the Syrian Army told Al-Masdar that they do not plan on attacking Morek at this time; it appears the Turkish military is not taking any chances by leaving this area undefended.
In June of this year, Turkey setup 12 observations posts in northern Syria as per Astana talks with Russia and Iran.
The Syrian and Russian air forces have already begun their heavy bombardment of the Idlib Governorate; their ground forces are expected to attack in the coming days.

TEHRAN (FNA)- A leading Syrian newspaper reported that the massive military operations against the terrorist groups in Idlib will start after the upcoming summit among the Iranian, Turkish and Russian leaders in Tehran, noting that Ankara has agreed with gradual termination of militants' occupation of Idlib.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper quoted special sources privy to the Russian-Turkish negotiations as saying on Monday that talks have progressed a lot and Turkey has agreed with efforts to gradually return Idlib to the Syrian government either through political efforts or military operations.

They added that the results of such talks which have not yet ended will be raised in the Friday meeting among the Iranian, Russian and Turkish presidents in Tehran, noting that the date of the Idlib attack will be decided in the Tehran summit.

According to the Syrian newspaper, the army's military operations will likely kick off immediately after the Tehran summit.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem stated on Sunday that the recent US threats to strike Syria would not stop the Damascus government from Idlib operation.

"Anything that is actively promoted by the US will not affect the determination of the Syrian people and Syrian army’s plans to clear Idlib and finally put an end to terrorism in Syria," Muallem said in an interview.

According to him, the US accusations about alleged plans regarding chemical attacks have become questionable in the eyes of public opinion and are just an excuse for a possible attack on Syria.

"We, the people and leadership of Syria, would like to end the conflict today, but the intervention of Western countries headed by the US makes it difficult," Muallem added.

Turkey Working on Diversion Plan to Trouble Syrian Army Attack on Terrorists in Idlib
TEHRAN (FNA)- Terrorist groups, directed by Ankara forces, plan to launch a heavy offensive on the Syrian Army in Aleppo province as government troops are preparing to kick off their long-awaited assault on terrorists in Idlib, a media outlet reported on Sunday.
The Kurdish-language Hawar news reported that the Ankara-backed terrorists are reinvigorating their combat capabilities via fortifying positions and concentrating militants in Aleppo to kick off a surprise attack against the army.

It further said that the terrorists' upcoming attack has been directed by the Turkish army command, adding that the terrorists are to start the offensive by suicide attacks and artillery fire on Aleppo city.トルコが#HTSを切った?

Russian President Vladimir Putin may discuss provocations using chemical weapons in Syria at the Russia-Turkey-Iran summit in Tehran on Friday, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said in an interview.

“This issue, all aspects of the Syrian settlement and aggravating points will be discussed,” Ushakov told the Izvestiya newspaper asked whether the issue of provocations with chemical weapons would be on the summit’s agenda.

Russian Envoy to US: Militants to Create Provocation in Idlib Aided by UK Forces
Putin will also hold separate meetings with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

On Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Putin and Erdogan would hold a bilateral meeting in the sidelines of the Russia-Turkey-Iran summit on Syria in Tehran.

Speculation about the possibility of a chemical attack in Syria has grown in recent weeks after Russian officials warned of a plot to launch such an assault in order to provoke western retaliation against the Syrian government.

On August 25, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that terrorists of the Tahrir al-Sham group (affiliated with the Jabhat Nusra terror organization, banned in Russia) were preparing a provocation in Syria’s western Idlib province to accuse Syrian government forces of using chemical weapons against civilians.

US threats to strike Syria wont stop gov’t offensive in Idlib – FM
Following the liberation of Daraa in the south, Idlib remains the “world’s largest open prison” for some three million people and the last terrorist stronghold in Syria.

“Anything that is actively promoted by the US will not affect the determination of the Syrian people and Syrian army’s plans to clear Idlib and finally put an end to terrorism in Syria,” Syrian Foreign minister Walid Muallem said in an interview.

According to him, the US accusations about alleged plans regarding chemical attacks have become questionable in the eyes of public opinion and are just an excuse for a possible attack on Syria.

“We, the people and leadership of Syria, would like to end the conflict today, but the intervention of Western countries headed by the US makes it difficult,” Muallem said.

Muallem emphasized that the US presence in Syria is illegal and Washington can in no way justify it.

“The US presence has claimed the lives of thousands of Syrian and every time terrorists were besieged by the Syrian Arab Army, Washington provided them with protection. It became clear that Washington’s main objective was to prolong the crisis in Syria in the interests of Israel,” the minister said.

On August 22, US National Security Adviser John Bolton stated that Washington and its partners would respond in a “swift and appropriate manner” to any verified chemical weapons use in Idlib or elsewhere in Syria.
Separately, US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said that the United States “will respond to any verified chemical weapons use in Idlib or elsewhere in Syria… in a swift and appropriate manner.”
The Russian Defense Ministry, when commenting on the situation, accused the US and its allies of attempting to use a chemical weapons provocation planned by militants in Idlib as a pretext to launch an attack on Syrian government forces.
In August, Russian officials warned of a conspiracy by terrorists to launch an alleged chemical attack in order to provoke Western retaliation against the Syrian government.
According to Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, a group of militants, who had been prepared by the Olive Group, had conspired to stage the rescue of victims of a chemical weapons attack in Idlib.
After media reports alleging a chemical attack had been carried out in the Syrian city of Douma in April, Western countries immediately accused the Syrian government of being behind the attack.
Following the accusations, the US, the UK, and France launched over 100 missiles on multiple targets in the country in response to the alleged use of chemical weapons.
Damascus denied the accusations and said that the Jaish al-Islam terror group had staged the attack to encourage foreign intervention in Syria.

Turkey officially adds large Syrian jihadist group to terror list ahead of Idlib offensive
BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:15 A.M.) – Turkey has officially added the Syrian jihadist group “Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham” to their national terror list.

This move by the Turkish government comes on the eve of the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) scheduled offensive in the Idlib, Hama, and Latakia governorates.

Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham is one of the largest jihadist groups in Syria; they are primarily active in the Hama, Aleppo, Idlib, and Latakia governorates.

Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions in northwestern Syria are expected to be the Syrian Arab Army’s primary target during their offensive.

Russia has been pressuring the Turkish regime to eliminate the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham terrorists from the Idlib Governorate for several months now; however, they have often been reluctant due to their relationship with the jihadist group.

Turkey Sends Tens of Militants to Border with Syria to Join Battle against Gov't Forces in Idlib
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Turkish Army has dispatched a sum of 500 Ankara-backed militants to its border with Syria to further join other terrorists to counter the Syrian Army's imminent major operation in Idlib province, a Kurdish media outlet reported on Saturday.

Hawar News quoted field sources in Aleppo province as reporting that the Turkish army has dispatched a sum of 500 Ankara-backed militants to the Bab al-Hawa border-crossing between the town of Reihanly in Hatay province and al-Artab region in Aleppo.

It further said that a fresh wave of tensions and defections has covered the terrorist front over participation in the upcoming final battle with the Syrian army as a part of the Ankara-backed militants intend to surrender and some others are fleeing the region.

Hawar news went on to say that a number of terrorists of the Ankara-backed al-Shamiyeh Front have sold their weapons and fled to Turkey.

Field sources reported on Thursday that the Turkish army dispatched a military convoy, consisting of 15 military vehicles to Northern Syria through Kafr Lousin passageway.

They added that the convoy also included truckloads of Turkish army soldiers and officers and building blocks transferred to the Turkey-occupied region in the town of Morek.

According to the report, also another military convoy of the Turkish army, which included several military vehicles, was sent to the town of al-Sarman in Eastern Idlib.

The developments came as the Syrian army is preparing for a major fight in Idlib and is sending large volume of military equipment to its positions.

Terrorists Receive Over 200 Drones from Turkey to Use against Syrian Army in Idlib Battle
TEHRAN (FNA)- Over 200 drones have been sent from Turkey to two regions controlled by Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) terrorists in preparation for the upcoming war against the Syrian Army in Idlib, a Russian media outlet reported on Saturday.

The Arabic-language website of Sputnik reported that large trucks, carrying more than 200 drones, left the town of Sarmada in Northern Idlib for a Tahrir al-Sham base in al-Mohandesin neighborhood in Idlib city.

It further said that the drones were brought to Syria from Turkey, adding that five Turkish and two Chechen experts are in Tahrir al-Sham base, checking the drones to be later sent to Jisr al-Shughour in Western Idlib and a region in Northern Hama.

The Russian air defense at Humeimim airbase in Western Syria and the Syrian army have shot down tens of drones in recent months.

The Syrian army has also targeted a number of combat and spying drones of the terrorists in Northern Hama in the last few days.

US jets strike Syrian town with banned white phosphorus bombs – Russian Defense Ministry
Two US jets have bombed a town in the Syrian Deir Ez-Zor province with white phosphorus munitions, causing massive fires, Russian military has said.

Two F-15 jets bombed the town of Hajin with white phosphorus incendiary munitions on Saturday, according to the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria.

“Following the strikes, large fires were observed in the area,” Lieutenant-General Vladimir Savchenko said Sunday. There’s still no information on casualties caused by the bombing run, he added.

The use of any incendiary munitions in populated civilian areas was banned by the 1980 Protocol III of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons. The US signed the protocol back in 2009.

White phosphorus, however, is also used for smoke screens and signals, which are not banned under the Convention. The loophole allows several nations, including the US, to keep the white-phosphorus based weapons in their arsenal.

The chemical burns when it comes into contact with oxygen, producing high-temperature heat and white smoke. Exposure to burning phosphorus causes deep burns, which are very hard to heal, while its fumes are highly toxic.

Russia’s accusations against the US come as tensions between the two countries soar in the region. The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly warned of a false-flag chemical attack being prepared by militant groups in Idlib, which it says will be used to justify a new US strike against the Syrian government. Moscow has also held massive naval drills in the Mediterranean Sea near Syria.

The US, in its turn, has also ramped up its military presence in the area, getting several ships equipped with cruise missiles closer to Syrian shores. President Donald Trump has meanwhile been “routinely” briefed by the Pentagon on the potential “military options” the US might take in case of chemical weapons attack.
