Two Russian anti-submarine aircrafts arrive at Syria for Mediterranean drills
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:15 P.M.) – Russia is sending more forces to take part in the largest drills to be held for one week in the Mediterranean off the coast of Syria.

Two anti-submarine aircrafts type TU-12 have arrived at the coastal airbase of Hmeimim after conducting a long trip to the Caspian Sea and over the Iranian and Iraqi skies to Syria.

The drills will involve 26 military ships, 2 submarines and 34 aircrafts.

The drills comes as an indirect response to US Navy recent buildup in the Mediterranean which threatens to attack the Syrian Army.

Labour Leader: Israel Controls UK Politicians’ Speech

Labour Leader: Israel Controls UK Politicians’ Speech
TEHRAN (FNA)- UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is battling allegations of anti-Semitism in his party, came under fire for a 2010 speech where he said speeches British lawmakers make are controlled by the Tel Aviv regime.

The videotaped remarks were made during Corbyn’s meeting with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign in London following Israel’s deadly raid on an aid flotilla that attempted to break the years-long blockade on the Gaza Strip, Daily Mail reported.

During the May 2010 attack, 10 Turkish activists onboard the Mavi Marmara were killed after Israeli naval commandos boarded the ship and opened fire.

Criticizing British lawmakers’ pro-Israeli reactions to the attack, Corbyn reportedly said during the meeting that the MPs “all turned up [to the debating chamber] with a pre-prepared script. I’m sure our friend Ron Prosor (the Israeli ambassador) wrote it. Because they all came up with the same key words. It was rather like reading a European document looking for buzz-words”.

“And the buzz-words were, ‘Israel’s need for security.’ And then ‘the extremism of the people on one ship.’ And ‘the existence of Turkish militants on the vessel.’ It came through in every single speech, this stuff came through,” he added.

The Israeli lobby has long complained about what it calls Corbyn’s tolerance for anti-Semitism in his party.

An open critic of Israel’s crimes against the people of Palestine, Corbyn has drawn fire from his opponents by allowing the members of his party to speak their mind about Israel and its occupation of Palestinian lands.

Earlier this week, the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism launched an online campaign to pressure Labour lawmakers into issuing a vote of no-confidence in Corbyn and force him to resign.

The Labour leader most recently came under fire for video footage of a speech from 2013, where he says “Zionists” can’t understand British ways of thinking despite growing up in the country. Corbyn defended his remarks, saying by Zionists did not mean Jews.

Meanwhile, Corbyn’s allies in and outside of the UK have rushed to his support in the face of the Israeli media upsurge that try to portray him as an anti-Semite.

Israeli lawmaker Haneen Zoabi stated that the attacks against Corbyn were “unjust, offensive and absurd”.

"Corbyn's criticism is justified. And the state, which deals with theft, murder and racist acts under the law of nationality, is rightly justified by this criticism," the Israeli Knesset member said.

Syrian Military Denies Israeli Missile Attack on Mezzeh Airport near Damascus
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian state news agency quoted a high-ranking military source on Sunday as denying any missile attack by Israeli army on Mezzeh airport West of Damascus.

SANA quoted the military source as rejecting reports on Israeli forces' missile attack on Mezzeh airport West of Damascus, adding that the blasts in the ammunition depot near the airport started after a short-circuit incident in the power grid.

Israeli media, including The Times of Israel, claimed that the Israel fighter jets targeted Mezzeh airport by several missiles, causing huge blast in the airport last night.

In the meantime, Israeli media activists claimed that the Israeli fighter jets' missiles targeted a convoy of long-range missiles that had recently been sent to the base.

In July, Israel launched another strike against the Syrian territories to support the terrorist groups stationed in the region.

An Israeli drone launched missile strike against a Syrian army positions in the Northern parts of Quneitra province.

The missile was fired against the army bases at the so-called UN hill which is linked to the Golan Heights and witnessed fierce clashes in late 2015, but the terrorists failed to capture.

Blasts at Damascus airbase after possible missile strike
Powerful blasts have rocked a military airport in Damascus, with reports suggesting it was targeted by a missile attack or an airstrike. The military said they were caused by a short circuit at a nearby ammunition depot, however.

The blasts occurred at the Mazzeh military airport late on Saturday night, according to multiple reporters on the ground. Explosions can be heard in footage from Damascus posted on social media.

According to unnamed officials and intelligence sources cited by multiple media outlets, the airbase was the target of an airstrike or missile attack, and Syrian air defenses responded. Some reports suggested that there had been three explosions, targeting a research center in Jamraya, near Damascus, and a military depot, which suffered a direct hit.

Israel has previously launched strikes against Syrian territories and was accused of targeting the Mazzeh airport, but it has not officially acknowledged it as a target. Israeli missiles reportedly hit the airfield in 2016 and January 2017. After the latter strike, the Syrian military warned Tel Aviv of repercussions for the “flagrant attack.” The Israeli government does not comment on the details of its military operations abroad, but it has claimed it had hit Iranian forces on Syrian soil.

However, one military source cited by Syrian state media outlet Sana, has denied that there was an attack, instead saying the explosions were caused by a short circuit at a munitions dump.

The airport is a key Syrian air-force base located in the Mazzeh (Mezzeh) municipality to the southwest of central Damascus.

Video footage from just outside of Mezzeh Airbase shows powerful explosion
BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:00 A.M.) – An Al-Masdar field correspondent captured footage of the massive explosion that took place at the Mezzeh Airbase tonight.
As shown in the video below, the prior explosion was followed by a powerful one at the Mezzeh Airbase:
A Syrian Arab Army source at the Mezzeh Airbase told Al-Masdar that the military installation was attacked by several missiles, despite previous claims by Damascus.
The Syrian military said in a communique earlier tonight that the explosion was a result of an electrical fault.

Scores of ISIS terrorists killed by Syrian Army in southern Syria
BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – Scores of Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists were killed this week, as they attempted to breakout of the Al-Safa volcanic region in southern Syria.

As the ISIS casualties increased, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) managed to liberate several areas around the Al-Safa region, putting them in position to capture the Qabr Sheikh Hussein area.

Desperate ISIS terrorists attempt to break Syrian Army siege on volcanic region in southern Syria
BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 P.M.) – The desperate Islamic State (ISIS) fighters in the Al-Safa volcanic region of southern Syria once again made an attempt to breakout of this area last night.

ISIS began their assault under the cover of darkness at the northeastern axis of the Al-Safa region; they would storm one of the Syrian Arab Army’s thinnest lines in an attempt to fracture their defenses.

However, the Islamic State fighters would once again fail to crack the Syrian Arab Army’s lines after short battle last night.

According to a military source in Sweida city, the Syrian Arab Army was able to fully secure this axis in the Al-Safa region after killing at least a half dozen Islamic State terrorists.

Since losing several points around the Al-Safa region this week, the Islamic State has become even more desperate to break the siege on this mountainous area in southern Syria.

Making matters worse for ISIS, they no longer control their vital water source in this volcanic region, so they will not likely be able to hold this area for much longer.

Hundreds of Iraqis protest US interferece in domestic affairs
BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:20 A.M.) – Hundreds of Iraqis, outraged by the ongoing American presence in their country, gathered in Baghdad’s Firdos Square on Friday to demand an end to the interference.

Since a new Iraqi parliament is set to meet next week to elect a speaker and start forming a government, the protesters called on Washington to not interfere in the process.

Protesters also added that their fellows Iraqis were remaining silent on this ‘criminal act’ which ‘sends them to hell.’

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi underlined that Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's decision to remove his national security advisor and head of the country's Hashd al-Shaabi (popular forces) Falih al-Fayyadh is an internal affair, and has nothing to do with Tehran.

"This is an internal Iraqi issue and we do not interfere in it," Qassemi said on Saturday.

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman reiterated that for Iran as a neighbor, a safe, unified, and advanced Iraq has priority over everything else.

Al-Fayyadh was removed from office on Friday, with al-Abadi's office stating that the decision had been take due to al-Fayyad's involvement in political and partisan work.

The decision has largely been attributed to the country’s ongoing efforts to form a new government following parliamentary elections in May.

Senior cleric Muqtada Sadr's Sairoon bloc came first in the polls, while the Fatah (Conquest) Alliance led by Hadi al-Amiri, and Prime Minister Abadi's Nasr finished second and third.

Before Abadi’s decision, reports surfaced alleging that al-Fayyadh was working with other heavyweight political groupings to establish the largest parliamentary bloc with expected influence in the make-up of the next government.

Abadi’s office said al-Fayyadh’s alleged involvement in government formation talks would undermine the performance of the country’s security apparatus.

As an apparent answer to the prime minister’s move, a number of Nasr’s leaders have made al-Fayyadh their candidate for upcoming elections to choose prime minister.

Iraqis Rally to Vent Anger at US over Interference
TEHRAN (FNA)- Hundreds of Iraqi protesters took to the streets of the capital, Baghdad, to vent their anger at the US meddling in the Arab country's domestic affairs.

Demonstrators gathered in central Baghdad on Friday carrying banners and chanting slogans in condemnation of Washington's interference in Iraq's internal issues amid political uncertainty over the makeup of a new government, presstv reported.

Protester Sheikh Kazem Faihan called on the Iraqi nation to be united against "the enemy and its stark intervention in our matter", adding that "it’s a Zionist US enemy trying to intervene in our local matter so, oh, Iraqi people how can you be silent about this criminal act?"

Sadek Mahdawi, another participant in Friday's rally, stressed that the Iraqi people have to choose their own government.

"Our demand is [for them] not to interfere in Iraqi matters, this is first. Second, we are electing a counsel to be in charge of forming a new council with no foreign intervention from the US or anyone else," he said.

"They (the Americans) are not the world’s only power. We are people with a deep rooted civilization and our history was formed before US history even started. We invented the real civilization and the first handwriting and we're supposed to be able to elect our own government," Mahdawi stated.

The US, backed by the UK, invaded Iraq in 2003 under the pretext that the former regime of Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction. No such weapons, however, were ever found in the country.

More than one million Iraqis were killed as a result of the US-led invasion and the subsequent occupation of the country, according to the California-based investigative organization Project Censored.

The invasion plunged Iraq into chaos and led to the rise of terrorist groups.

The US and a coalition of its allies further launched a military campaign against purported Daesh targets in Iraq in 2014, but their operations in many instances have led to civilian deaths.

Last December, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared the end of the anti-Daesh campaign in Iraq. The group’s remnants, though, still keep staging sporadic attacks across the country.

Iraq's parliamentary elections were held on May 12 and predominately Shia blocs won most seats at the legislature. However, political parties are still embroiled in negotiations over forming the largest bloc at the parliament.

Last month, US-led coalition Spokesman Colonel Sean Ryan announced that the alliance would remain in Iraq despite the defeat of Daesh, stressing that “we’ll keep troops there as long as we think they’re needed".

The announcement raised objections among Iraqi politicians.

Iraq blocks Russian warplane from using its airspace
BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:20 P.M.) – The Russian Aerospace Forces were redirected from Iraq’s airspace on Friday and forced to reroute over Iran, air traffic observers reported this afternoon.

According to the reports, a Russian Tu-154M was traveling from Moscow to the Syrian coastal province of Latakia, when the Iraqi government made the decision to block the warplane’s flight over their airspace.

No reason was cited by the Iraqi Ministry of Defense for blocking this Russian warplane.

The Russian warplane is reportedly making another attempt to fly across Iraq in order to reach the Latakia Governorate in western Syria.

Syria and Iraq have an agreement to allow their air forces to use one another’s airspace while attacking the Islamic State (ISIS); however, the Russian jet is likely transporting troops to the Hmeymim Airbase in Jableh, which begs the question as to why were they prohibited from using the Iraqi airspace.
