US chose ‘neocolonial course’ in Syria to gain control over its resources

US chose ‘neocolonial course’ in Syria to gain control over its resources – Russian envoy to UN
Washington pursues a “neocolonial” policy aimed at dividing Syria and ultimately seizing its resources, the Russian ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia said during a special UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting.

The US “continues its inherently neocolonial course aimed at division of [Syria]” as the US-led coalition supports the establishment of some “loyal governmental substitutes,” Nebenzia said during the UNSC session on Tuesday, as he slammed Washington’s actions in the war-torn Middle Eastern country.

He also drew attention to the fact that the coalition consistently expands its presence in Syria by building new bases and strengthening its forces.

“It is becoming clear that [the US-led coalition] attempts to take hold of the Syrian territory and gain control over its resources,” the Russian diplomat said during the urgent UNSC session, convened at Russia’s request to discuss the situation in Syria’s Idlib province. Located in Syria’s northwest, this region is the only one still mostly controlled by various militant groups, including some terrorist organizations such as Al-Nusra (now known as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham).

Earlier on Tuesday, the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford de facto admitted that the US plans to stay in Syria indefinitely. He said that, apart from fighting terrorists on the Syrian soil, the US forces also intend to train local armed groups to serve as what he called a “security force.”

“What is really important … is training a security forces necessary to stabilize those areas that have already been cleared of ISIS and that is going to take some time to do that,” Dunford said during a joint Pentagon press briefing with US Defense Secretary James Mattis. The general also said that US “won’t be ready to talk about reconstruction until there’s a political solution.”

Mattis, meanwhile, made more specific comments concerning the US plans for Syria.
“Our goal is to move the Syrian Civil War into the Geneva process, so the Syrian people can establish a new government that is not led by Assad,” he said. The Pentagon head also said that Iranian forces have no right to be in Syria, as they support the government in Damascus.

However, Russia and Iran sent their forces and advisors to Syria at the official request of the Syrian government, to help it fight terrorists, while the US and its allies have been operating in Syria without approval from Syrian authorities or any UN mandate.

‘Politicized approach’
Nebenzia also condemned the politicized approach of Washington to rebuilding Syria, bringing up the internal UN directive that severely limits the UN agencies’ cooperation with Syria until a "political transition" takes place there.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov raised the issue last week and linked the release of the directive with the "absolutely deconstructive" US stance on Syrian reconstruction. Washington has refused to fund any rebuilding programs in Syria on territories under government control, continuing the policy set under the Obama administration that “Assad must go” first.

The internal UN document, titled 'Parameters and Principles of UN Assistance in Syria' and issued by the UN Secretariat in October 2017 without UNSC approval, says that any UN aid for reconstruction efforts will be possible only following "political transition" in Syria. It also limits the ability of UN agencies to cooperate with Damascus under various pretexts, and even says that the UN "will not promote the return of refugees” to Syria.

After the UN secretary-general’s office denied the existence of any such document, the Russian Foreign Ministry cited the directive in detail in a statement to the media.

The document “does exist despite the phony attempts to deny this fact,” Nebenzia said during the UNSC meeting, adding that the directive “strikingly resembles” a “well-known politicized stance of some western countries.” Such an “irresponsible” approach goes counter to the UN principle of neutrality, he said.

Syrian army has no chemical weapons or plans to use them
The Russian envoy to the UN then expressed Moscow’s concerns over potential false flag attacks involving the use of chemical weapons, which could be used by the western states as a pretext to launch airstrikes against Damascus.

“The Syrian Army has no chemical weapons and no plans to use it,” Nebenzia said, adding that such action would be absolutely senseless from a military point of view. At the same time, he said that the US and its allies could “wait for a militants’ provocation” and then conduct another air strike while accusing the Syrian government of being responsible for the chemical incident.

Earlier in the day, Mattis said that Washington has been in “active communication” with Moscow to prevent any chemical weapons attacks in Syria. At the same time, he once again said that the US would not hesitate to respond if such attack takes place.

“You have seen our administration act twice on the use of chemical weapons,” Mattis told reporters, referencing US airstrikes against the Syrian government after alleged chemical attacks. “I will assure you that the Department of State has been in active communication, recent active communication, with Russia to enlist them in preventing this. I’ll just leave it at that for right now. But communication is going on.”

Last week, US National Security Advisor John Bolton also stated that “if the Syrian regime uses chemical weapons, we will respond very strongly and they really ought to think about this a long time.” On Monday, however, the Russian Defense Ministry warned that US-sponsored opposition forces may be preparing to stage a fake chemical attack to lure the US into retaliatory strikes against the Syrian government.

“The implementation of this provocation, which is being conducted with the assistance of the British intelligence services, is meant to serve as the latest pretext for the US, Britain and France to deliver a missile strike against state and economic facilities in Syria,” said General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry.

As the specter of a chemical attack looms, the US is building up its military presence in the region. Last weekend, the missile destroyer USS Ross was deployed to the Mediterranean, carrying 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles. It came after a similar move of the USS The Sullivans to the Persian Gulf and the rebasing of a B-1B Lancer strategic bomber to an air base in Qatar. The Russian ministry said the “preparations are the latest evidence of the US intention to use” a chemical provocation.

Mourning the loss of #JohnMcCain? Not so fast. Here is a detailed history of McCain calling for war around the world.

geopoliticsalert July 21, 2017
A History of John McCain’s Calls for War
Washington (GPA) – Earlier this week notorious war hawk US Senator John McCain (R-Az) was diagnosed with brain cancer. While the liberal and conservative establishments are sending their regards, Geopolitics Alert instead compiled a list of reasons why we don’t care about McCain.

The list is, of course, a history of all the instances McCain has called for US-led intervention around the world. There’s clearly a long history here, so Geopolitics Alert has compiled the most blatant examples from Europe to Asia. We’ll start with the obvious wars first.

Afghanistan and Iraq

Obviously, every US Senator (besides California’s Barbara Lee) voted to give President George W. Bush the power to invade Afghanistan following the events of September 11th. However, McCain wasn’t happy with just moving to invade Afghanistan. No, he had other targets on his mind as early as the day after the towers fell.

Despite McCain’s claim in 2014 that “the Iraq war probably wouldn’t have happened” if he had won the 2000 Republican primary and the general election, this assertion seems ridiculous. On September 12th, 2001, McCain appeared on MSNBC presenting an extensive list of countries he felt were providing a “safe harbor” to groups like al Qaeda. This list, of course, included Iraq and several other nations that appear later on this list.

Another country on that 2001 list (of course) was Syria. Now, the Bush regime may have never gotten a chance to continue toppling Mideast countries (thanks to the failure in Iraq and the exposure of that war being sold on lies). But McCain seemingly never lost sight of his hatred for Bashar Al-Assad.

Shortly after the Arab Spring “broke out” in Syria, McCain – and his constant partner in war crimes Sen. Lindsey Graham – quickly found communication channels with the “Syrian opposition.” Just a few short months after the US endorsed protests in Syria (even having their ambassador attend), McCain and Graham began calling for arms to start flowing to the Free Syrian Army and other “rebel” groups.

※ Charles Shoebridge @ShoebridgeC氏の2018/8/28のツイート
For months, BBC failed to disclose that its relationship with Sergei #Skripal and his MI6 handler long preceded the ‘Novichok attack’. Now, @CraigMurrayOrg asks BBC nine key questions on Skripal, the Steele dossier, and what that BBC relationship entailed

Skripals – When the BBC Hide the Truth

On 8 July 2018 a lady named Kirsty Eccles asked what, in its enormous ramifications, historians may one day see as the most important Freedom of Information request ever made. The rest of this post requires extremely close and careful reading, and some thought, for you to understand that claim.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

1: Why did BBC Newsnight correspondent Mark Urban keep secret from the licence payers that he had been having meetings with Sergei Skripal only last summer.

2: When did the BBC know this?

3: Please provide me with copies of all correspondence between yourselves and Mark Urban on the subject of Sergei Skripal.

Yours faithfully,

Kirsty Eccles

The ramifications of this little request are enormous as they cut right to the heart of the ramping up of the new Cold War, of the BBC’s propaganda collusion with the security services to that end, and of the concoction of fraudulent evidence in the Steele “dirty dossier”. This also of course casts a strong light on more plausible motives for an attack on the Skripals.

Which is why the BBC point blank refused to answer Kirsty’s request, stating that it was subject to the Freedom of Information exemption for “Journalism”.

10th July 2018
Dear Ms Eccles
Freedom of Information request – RFI20181319
Thank you for your request to the BBC of 8th July 2018, seeking the following information under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000:
1: Why did BBC Newsnight correspondent Mark Urban keep secret from the licence payers that he
had been having meetings with Sergei Skripal only last summer.
2: When did the BBC know this?
3: Please provide me with copies of all correspondence between yourselves and Mark Urban on the
subject of Sergei Skripal.
The information you have requested is excluded from the Act because it is held for the purposes of
‘journalism, art or literature.’ The BBC is therefore not obliged to provide this information to you. Part VI of Schedule 1 to FOIA provides that information held by the BBC and the other public service broadcasters is only covered by the Act if it is held for ‘purposes other than those of journalism, art or literature”. The BBC is not required to supply information held for the purposes of creating the BBC’s output or information that supports and is closely associated with these creative activities.

The BBC is of course being entirely tendentious here – “journalism” does not include the deliberate suppression of vital information from the public, particularly in order to facilitate the propagation of fake news on behalf of the security services. That black propaganda is precisely what the BBC is knowingly engaged in, and here trying hard to hide.

I have today attempted to contact Mark Urban at Newsnight by phone, with no success, and sent him this email:

To: mark.urban@bbc.co.uk

Dear Mark,

As you may know, I am a journalist working in alternative media, a member of the NUJ, as well as a former British Ambassador. I am researching the Skripal case.

I wish to ask you the following questions.

1) When the Skripals were first poisoned, it was the largest news story in the entire World and you were uniquely positioned having held several meetings with Sergei Skripal the previous year. Yet faced with what should have been a massive career break, you withheld that unique information on a major story from the public for four months. Why?
2) You were an officer in the Royal Tank Regiment together with Skripal’s MI6 handler, Pablo Miller, who also lived in Salisbury. Have you maintained friendship with Miller over the years and how often do you communicate?
3) When you met Skripal in Salisbury, was Miller present all or part of the time, or did you meet Miller separately?
4) Was the BBC aware of your meetings with Miller and/or Skripal at the time?
5) When, four months later, you told the world about your meetings with Skripal after the Rowley/Sturgess incident, you said you had met him to research a book. Yet the only forthcoming book by you advertised is on the Skripal attack. What was the subject of your discussions with Skripal?
6) Pablo Miller worked for Orbis Intelligence. Do you know if Miller contributed to the Christopher Steele dossier on Trump/Russia?
7) Did you discuss the Trump dossier with Skripal and/or Miller?
8) Do you know whether Skripal contributed to the Trump dossier?
9) In your Newsnight piece following the Rowley/Sturgess incident, you stated that security service sources had told you that Yulia Skripal’s telephone may have been bugged. Since January 2017, how many security service briefings or discussions have you had on any of the matter above.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Craig Murray

I should very much welcome others also sending emails to Mark Urban to emphasise the public demand for an answer from the BBC to these vital questions. If you have time, write your own email, or if not copy and paste from mine.

To quote that great Scot John Paul Jones, “We have not yet begun to fight”.

米軍の大佐もRTを読んでいる そしてコテンパンにやられている

US army accuses RT of ‘ridiculous misinformation’ over Syria, but not UN or NBC
A US Army colonel has accused RT of ‘ridiculous misinformation’ for reporting a Russian government suggestion that Islamic State is operating inside a US-controlled zone in Syria, despite the UN and NBC reporting the same.

On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told journalists that Moscow has received information that armed members of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) and the Al-Qaeda proxy group Jabhat al-Nusra had found shelter in the Rukban refugee camp, located in the southwest Al-Tanf region of Syria, and that the US knows the terrorists are there.

Army Colonel Sean Ryan who is the spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), the snappy name for the US-led coalition against IS, took to the one battleground that really matters, Twitter. He accused RT of ‘ridiculous misinformation’. It’s not entirely clear which part of the report he believes is misinformation; the fact that the Foreign Ministry said the statement in the first place, that terrorists are operating in Rukban, or that the US knows all about it.

If he’s got a problem with the information coming from Russia’s Foreign Ministry, then he should direct his objections that way. It is generally accepted in the world of journalism that quoting the statement of a government official is not ‘misinformation’, it’s actually just reporting the news. Attempting to undermine good faith reporting, well that actually is ‘misinformation’.

More worrying would be if Colonel Ryan is saying the US actually knows nothing about terrorists operating in and around the Rukban refugee camp, because that would make the US military the only organisation in the region that hasn’t noticed. That’s even more concerning when you consider the stated US goal of being in Syria is to fight IS rebels.

For the benefit of Colonel Ryan, here are a few people who have noticed the slightly dodgy looking gun-toting terrorists who appear to be putting together cells under their noses.

NBC’s Bill Neely was given access to the area around the Rukban camp, but he reported that his Jordanian helicopter pilot refused to fly over it “for fear of being shot down by ISIS cells in the camp.”

The NBC report goes on to quote the commander of Jordan’s army in the area as saying “militants there have whole weapons systems … small arms, RPGs, anti-aircraft.” Brigadier General Sami Kafawin describes how the militants “consider the camp a safe haven. We consider it an imminent threat.”

Jordan is a US ally at the last time of checking, perhaps Colonel Ryan should phone someone up there.

Earlier this month, the UN named the Rukban refugee camp as being among hotspots ripe for the reemergence of IS. For the sake of Colonel Ryan, he can find a link to the UN report here.

The camp is close to the Jordanian border which was closed because of constant terrorist activity. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that terrorists working in such a remote region might see some opportunities in a nearby camp of 80,000 desperate people.

So, what’s really going on here? When a report from RT is branded misinformation by a US colonel who is responsible for less-than-transparent operations in a distant part of Syria, readers may be well advised to read the contents of that report, and future reports, very carefully. Serving military leaders are not well known for being open with information. However, it’s nice to see that Colonel Ryan is getting some of his news from RT.com.

Publicly criticising outlets like RT has nothing to do with pointing out misinformation, but everything to do with undermining different sources of information which are not singing to your tune.

RT has written to Colonel Ryan in an attempt to clarify his comments, but has not received a reply at the time of writing. It can’t be ruled out that he hasn’t noticed the email.

Russian Paper: US Likely to Target Syria from Hasaka

Russian Paper: US Likely to Target Syria from Hasaka
TEHRAN (FNA)- A leading Russian newspaper reported that the US military forces are likely to launch missile attacks on Syrian army positions from an occupied airbase in Hasaka in a last ditch effort to delay the Damascus government's conquer over terrorist groups in Idlib in its impending operation.

Nezavisimaya Gazeta daily reported on Tuesday that the new US airbase in Hasaka province in Northeastern Syria will likely be used to launch missile attacks against the army positions.

It added that the US engineering units are equipping the military airport in the town of al-Shadadi in Hasaka for the deployment of heavy aircraft, cautioning that the air base is larger even than Russia's Humeimem military base in Lattakia.

According to the report, the US-led western coalition is preparing for aggression against Syria under the pretext of allegations of chemical attacks in Idlib as the Syrian army is due to start its imminent military operations in the province.

Relevant reports said earlier today that the US army had dispatched another long military convoy to the regions held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Hasaka province, local sources reported.

The sources said that the US has sent a convoy of a hundred trucks to Syria from Iraq via the Simalka border-crossing on Monday.

They further said that the convoy included several tankers, military vehicles and bulldozers, and has already arrived in SDF-held regions in Hasaka.

Also, the London-based pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported last week that the US army sent over 800 trucks packed with military equipment to Northeastern Syria for its military bases and military airports on Eastern Euphrates and in Aleppo and Hasaka provinces in Northeastern Syria.

It also said that in addition to the trucks cargo planes carrying weapons and military hardware as well as logistic equipment landed in Kobani airport in Northwestern Aleppo.

"A sum of 150 new trucks carrying construction materials, military equipment and weapons have been sent to the US bases," the SOHR added.

Russia Denies Reports on US Warning About Strikes on Syria

Russia Denies Reports on US Warning About Strikes on Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that the Kremlin cannot confirm that US Security Adviser John Bolton had reportedly warned Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev about possible strikes on Syria in case of a "chemical attack".

"No," Peskov told reporters when asked whether he could confirm that there had been such a warning, Sputnik reported.

On Saturday, media reported citing sources that Bolton told Patrushev at the Thursday talks in Geneva that the United States was ready to take military action if Damascus used chemical weapons in the Idlib province.

Earlier in the day, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Rybkov said that Bolton's statements on Syria and threats were likely to be the only language that the US has used.

Kremlin spokesman also noted that Russia's expenditures on its defense capacity, including during the Vostok 2018 military exercises, are justified in the current international situation.

"The country's defense capability in the current international situation, which is often very aggressive and unfriendly toward our country, is justified, necessary and has no alternative," Peskov told reporters when asked about Russia's expenditures on the Vostok drills.

On Tuesday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated that approximately 300,000 servicemen, 36,000 tanks, armored personnel carriers and other vehicles, more than a thousand aircraft will be involved in the Vostok-2018 military drills that are set to become Russia's largest military exercises since the Zapad drills in 1981.

Russia, alongside Iran and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against terrorist groups and providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the crisis-torn country.

Syria has been devastated by years of violent military conflict which with government forces fighting multiple militant and terror groups.

Washington Warns Riyadh over Yemen Civilian Casualties

Washington Warns Riyadh over Yemen Civilian Casualties
TEHRAN (FNA)- After selling Saudi Arabia billion of dollars in weapons and intelligence to attack Yemen, the United States has reportedly warned Riyadh that it will reduce intelligence and military support for the kingdom unless necessary action is taken to limit civilian casualties.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis and General Joseph Votel, who oversees US military operations in the Middle East, are concerned that the US is helping Saudis and their allies, including the United Arab Emirates, with killing civilians, unnamed officials familiar with the Pentagon’s view told CNN on Monday.

"At what point is enough enough?" one official said.

The Pentagon and the US State Department issued the warning following a Saudi-led airstrike on a school bus earlier this month, which killed 40 children and prompted widespread condemnations around the world.

Democratic members of the US Congress have since written three separate letters to President Donald Trump, asking him to justify Washington’s continued support for Riyadh in the face of its many atrocities.

It was reported in the days following the attack that an American-made 500-pound (227 kilogram) laser-guided bomb was used to hit the bus.

The US has refused to publicly condemn the attack but, according to reports, Mattis has sent a top US general to talk to the Saudis about it.

It is not yet clear whether Trump, who has been very supportive of the Saudis after inking a hefty $110 billion arms deals with the oil-rich kingdom last year, would allow a reduction of support for the Riyadh regime.

Former US President Barack Obama had banned the sale of American precision-guided military weapons to Saudi Arabia over "human rights concerns" but the ban only lasted until March 2017, when then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson overturned it.

Besides the US, the UK and France have also been providing weapons and intelligence to Saudi Arabia and the UAE over the course of the unprovoked war, which has killed over 17,500 Yemenis, caused a deadly cholera outbreak and put the country on the verge of famine.

"Lt. Gen. Garrett delivered a message of concern regarding the recent civilian casualty incident, and on behalf of the US government continued to urge for a thorough and expedited investigation as well as continued emphasis on the reduction of civilian casualties in the Yemeni campaign," Rebecca Rebarich, a Pentagon spokeswoman told CNN.

Saudi Crown Prince Threatens to Target Yemeni Women, Children Despite International Criticism

TEHRAN (FNA)- Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman threatened to target women and children in Yemen with the Riyadh-led coalition despite international criticism, according to a report.

According to an “informed source”, who asked not to be named, the crown prince issued his threat during a meeting with the coalition’s military commanders following the massacre in Hudaydah earlier this month, Al-Khaleej Online reported.

“Do not care about international criticism,” Bin Salman is alleged to have told his officers, a reference to the international condemnation of military operations against civilians in Yemen, particularly raids that kill women and children.

“We want to leave a big impact on the consciousness of Yemeni generations. We want their children, women and even their men to shiver whenever the name of Saudi Arabia is mentioned,” he stated.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen since March 2015 to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 17,500 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Despite Riyadh's claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

Reports by independent world bodies have warned that the Saudi-led air campaign against Yemen has driven the impoverished country towards humanitarian disaster, as Saudi Arabia's deadly campaign prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country.

Yemen is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis with more than 22 million people in need and is seeing a spike in needs, fuelled by ongoing conflict, a collapsing economy and diminished social services and livelihoods.

A UN panel has compiled a detailed report of civilian casualties caused by the Saudi military and its allies during their war against Yemen, saying the Riyadh-led coalition has used precision-guided munitions in its raids on civilian targets.

Kurds Hand over Key Passageway to Syrian Army in Deir Ezzur
TEHRAN (FNA)- The predominately Kurdish US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) handed over al-Salehiyeh passageway in Southeastern Deir Ezzur to the Syrian army, Syria's state-run media reported on Tuesday.

The Arabic-language al-Watan daily reported that the SDF embarked on handing over al-Salehiyeh passageway near the Euphrates River in Southeastern Deir Ezzur to the Syrian Army.

The passageway is located between the SDF-held '7km Square' and the small town of al-Salehiyeh that is under the army's control, al-Watan said, adding that the Syrian army and Russian Military Police will run the passageway.

The passageway will be open to ease return of civilians to their regions on the Western bank of Euphrates River that is under the army's control.

On Sunday, the army dispatched a large number of equipped forces to Southeastern Deir Ezzur, preparing for purging the border region with Iraq of ISIL terrorists.

The army's convoy, including hundreds of fresh forces along with heavy military equipment, was sent to Albu Kamal Desert in Southeastern Deir Ezzur near the border with Iraq.

Local sources said that the army intends to kick off a major operation near the border with Iraq to end ISIL's presence in the region.

US-Backed SDF Goes on Alert as Raqqa Residents Voice Support for Syrian Army
TEHRAN (FNA)- The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) went on a full alert in Raqqa as the city residents have started showing their support for Damascus Army, including painting graffiti.

"The SDF forces are on full alert in Raqqa city in security terms as the Kurdish forces have arrested a large number of civilians," local sources said.

They said that the wave of arrests came as unidentified groups painted graffiti on the walls of al-Badou district in Raqqa city and welcomed the presence of the Syrian Army in the city.

Media activists in Raqqa city also pointed to the fury of Raqqa residents over SDF's measures, including arresting a large number of people on different pretexts and death of a civilian under torture by SDF in Raqqa city.

The news comes as the SDF has detained several civilians on charges of imaging the SDF movements.

In a relevant development on Monday, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) opened fire at protesting civilians in Raqqa city on Monday, injuring several people and arresting a number of others.

The SDF militias engaged in fighting with protestors in al-Mashlab neighborhood in Raqqa city, opening fire at people.

A number of civilians were injured in the clashes.

The SDF further arrested over twenty civilians and kept gunmen on alert to suppress further demonstration.

On Sunday, the SDF stormed the farms near the village of Abu Qabih in Western Raqqa and forced the owners and their family members to leave their properties.

Local sources said that the SDF turned the farms into bases and command posts.

The sources said that the SDF occupied tens of farms, lands and houses of the people under different pretexts in the region.

Other sources reported that the SDF again arrested a number of young men in the town of Tal Abyadh under a forced recruitment plan.

The sources further said that a wave of tensions has covered the region following the SDF's continued hostile measures.

Syrian Kurds Stress Cooperation with Army in Fighting Terrorism
TEHRAN (FNA)- Syrian Kurds underlined preparedness to cooperate with the army in fighting terrorism as talks between them and Damascus are underway to deliver control of the occupied regions to the government.

Riad Darar, the Arab co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)’s political wing), was quoted as saying by the Arabic-language al-Mayadeen news channel on Saturday that the SDF will cooperate with the Syrian army in any military operations against the terrorists.

He added that the ultimatum by the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has persuaded the SDF to go for an agreement with the Damascus government.

Syrian Democratic Council declared in a statement that it has reached an agreement with the Syrian government on the formation of committees to continue negotiations until the end of war.

A preliminary agreement was made between the US-backed SDF and the Syrian government on transferring control of different parts of the country to Damascus and withdrawal of the US forces from Syria, media reports said on Saturday.

The Arabic-language al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper quoted informed Syrian sources as saying that the SDF has agreed to give control of Raqqa city and a large number of districts in Hasaka city, including those near the government and security centers, to the Syrian government.

Based on the report, the meetings were held in the presence of the Kurds close to the Syrian government, adding that they have told the SDF officials that regaining control of the occupied areas is possible but Damascus prefers to retake them through political ways and negotiations.

It added that the executive council of the SDF has also informed Damascus that the US intends to withdraw its forces and evacuate its military bases from the Syrian territories.

A delegation of the SDF was sent to Damascus to hold talks on the future of regions occupied by the Kurds in Northern Syria.

Relevant reports said on Friday that an alliance of Kurdish and Arab militants in Syria sent a delegation to the Syrian capital for talks with Syrian government officials.

Kurdish Delegation in Damascus for Peace Talks
TEHRAN (FNA)- An alliance of Kurdish and Arab militants in Syria has sent a delegation to the Syrian capital for talks with Syrian government officials.

The so-called Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), which is linked to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) − a US-backed coalition of mainly Kurdish militants holding a grip on northeastern Syria − sent the delegation to Damascus, according to SDC co-chair Riad Darar, press tv reported.

The delegation, led by executive head of SDC Ilham Ahmed, was expected to discuss matters of service provision in the areas controlled by the Kurdish group, but “the talks might widen to political and security matters," Darar said on Friday.

"This is certainly the first visit that happened," he added.

The militants are allied with the United States and French troops deployed to Syria under the pretext of fighting ISIL.

Chief among their demands is having an autonomous region within the Syrian borders. Darar, however, said that the outcome of the meetings is not yet clear, and that he did not know which Syrian officials will be meeting with the Kurdish delegation.

He also did not clarify how long the delegation will stay in Damascus.

Their Kurdish militant group, once called by President Bashar al-Assad as “traitors” to the nation, announced last month that it was ready for “unconditional” peace talks with the government amid the Syrian army’s major gains against the foreign-backed terrorist groups.

Assad said back in May that he was “opening doors” for negotiations with the SDF, who have apparently become wary of their unpredictable “ally”, the United States.

In an interview with Russia's RT television network, Assad said, “we started now opening doors for negotiations, because the majority of them are Syrians, supposedly they like their country, they don't like to be puppets to any foreigners. If not, we’re going to resort... to liberating those areas by force.”

According to Syrian media, the Kurds had expressed readiness to hand over control of the Eastern Euphrates to the government after Washington withheld its support for the Kurdish militants in the northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Afrin.

The presence of the Kurdish militants in the area have been a source of tension between the US and Turkey. Last month, the two sides reached a deal about the withdrawal of the Kurds from Manbij.

The Kurds have stressed that that they do not seek independence, but say they want a political deal to safeguard an autonomous administration which is now under their control in the north.

Kurds Likely to Return Control of Manbij to Syrian Army
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army is in talks with the Kurds to retake control of the strategic town of Manbij in Northeastern Aleppo, media reports said on Thursday.

Media sources affiliated to the dissidents in Syria reported that representatives of the Syrian government and a number of officials of the Manbij military council, affiliated to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), have held a meeting on the future of the town.

They added that the two sides conferred on the process to deliver control of a security region in Manbij as well as al-Shahba (Tishrin) dam South-East of the town to the Syrian army forces, noting that it can pave the ground for the army's full control over Manbij.

Meantime, earlier reports said that the US and Turkey had agreed on a roadmap to expel the Kurds from Manbij.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper quoted informed sources as saying last Thursday that meetings between the Syrian government and the Kurdish forces have recently increased but they have not yet produced remarkable results.

They added that the Kurds have opted for delivering control of the Eastern Euphrates after Washington withheld its support for the Kurdish militias in Manbij and Afrin.

Meantime, Turkey is preparing for an agreement with the Americans in Eastern Euphrates after its recent elections, which would give the Kurds a hard time if made.

The sources told the Arab paper that the possibility has increased for an agreement between the Syrian government and the Kurds at present as Americans are trying to hinder any such agreement.

Media: Kurdish Forces in Hasaka Deliver Control of Key Region to Damascus
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army has reached an agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to retake control of a key neighborhood in Hasaka, media reports said on Thursday.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper reported that implementation of an agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF in Hasaka province in Northeastern Syria has started with the transfer of the control of occupied regions to the army.

It quoted dissident sources as saying that the SDF has surrendered control of al-Nashweh district in Hasaka city to the Syrian army, adding that the army has set up checkpoints near the region.

The SDF is now required to bring down the flags and slogans of Kurdish parties in the city in line with implementation of the agreement with the army.

Also, during the talks underway between the two sides in the town of al-Shadadi in Southern Hasaka, the SDF has proposed to deliver control of the bordering areas with Turkey to the Syrian government.

Al-Watan had also reported on Sunday that the Kurdish militias had agreed to deliver control of oil facilities in Hasaka province to the Damascus government as part of an overall agreement to surrender their regions to the army.

It quoted some opposition sources as disclosing that several government delegations have had meetings with commanders of the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) that control the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River, adding that some Syrian military officers, and governor generals of Raqqa and Hasaka provinces had attended the meetings.

In the meantime, some Kurdish-affiliated sources disclosed that a new agreement has been endorsed by the YPG and the Syrian government based on which the Kurds will hand over oil facilities to Damascus to the sole exporter of Syria's crude oil.

The daily further said that a team of repair and maintenance experts have left Damascus for the town of Tabaqa in Western Raqqa and entered regions that are under the control of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to have meeting with the managing committee of Tabaqa Dam presided by Mohammad Oso.

In the meantime, local sources reported that the Kurdish units have taken photos of their commander Abdullah Ocalan and the group's flags down from Qanat al-Sowis street in Hasaka city.

USA is run by mentally sick people who as a policy depend on staged #ChemicalAttack in order to falsely accuse an adversary and use that pretext as moral obligation to further attack already war ravaged country with military might & destroy the parts that ISIS could not destroy.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Over 40 children have been abducted by terrorists in Northwestern Syria to be later used in a false-flag chemical attack amid reports on terrorists' plot to launch a fake chemical assault in the region, an Arab media outlet reported on Monday.

Syria's al-Watan daily quoted local sources as reporting that more than 40 children have recently been kidnapped in different regions across Idlib and Aleppo provinces.

It further said that clues show Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) has been in the abductions, adding that most of the children have been taken away from the small towns of al-Zarabah and Khan Touman in Southern Aleppo, Khan al-Asal, Tarmanin and al-Artan in Western Aleppo and the refugee camps in Qah and Atmah in Northwestern Idlib at the border with Turkey as well as the small towns of Basamas, Jozeph, Mar'ayan and al-Ramin in Jabal al-Zawiyeh in Southern Idlib that are among Tahrir al-Sham's most crucial strongholds.

The daily further pointed to the movements and preparations made Tahrir al-Sham and the White Helmets to stage a chemical attack in Idlib and relevant warnings by Russia, and warned that the kidnapped children are most likely to play role in the fake chemical operation.

The daily went on to say that Tahrir al-Sham has recently captured over 1,000 civilians in villages and towns in Western and Southern Idlib, accusing them of promoting peace plan with Damascus, adding that Tahrir al-Sham also seems to plan to use the captured civilians in the same fake chemical attack.

Earlier today, the Arabic-language website of Sputnik quoted well-informed sources as disclosing that the White Helmets transferred a consignment of chemicals from chlorine-producing company in Atmah at border with Turkey to Northern Hama on Sunday night.

It further said that the chemical consignment that was hidden in five trucks for carrying sands was transferred from Northern Idlib to Northern Hama under tight security measures.

The sources told Sputnik that a false-flag chemical attack will be possibly carried out following movements by Tahrir al-Sham and the White Helmets to pave the ground for the US' aggression on Syria.

US plans to use fake chemical weapons attack to strike Syria – Russian MoD
The US may have plans to use a fake chemical attack in Syria to hit government forces with airstrikes, the Russian Defense Ministry has said. Washington is already building up strike capability in the Middle East, it said.

The warning comes a day after the Russian military said it had information about a looming provocation in Syria’s Idlib governorate, which would involve a staged chemical weapons attack. The US earlier warned it would respond to a chemical weapons attack by Syrian government forces with retaliatory strikes, which would be stronger than those conducted by the US, the UK and France in April.

In a statement published on Monday, the Russian MoD said it noted the deployment to the Mediterranean last weekend of the missile destroyer USS Ross carrying 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles on board. It came after a similar move of the USS The Sullivans to the Persian Gulf and the rebasing of a B-1B Lancer strategic bomber to an air base in Qatar. The Russian ministry said the “preparations are the latest evidence of the US intention to use the” expected provocation.

The statement reiterated that the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham militant group, previously known as Al-Nusra Front, was preparing a staged chlorine attack in a city in Idlib. It alleged that a group of jihadists, trained in the handling of chemical weapons by the British private military contractor Olive Group, has already arrived in Jisr al-Shughur. The group will “stage decontamination of victims of a staged chemical weapons attack posing as members of the notorious White Helmets group,” the ministry claimed.

In April, a reported chlorine attack in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta neighborhood served as justification for the US, UK, and France to attack what they claimed to be sites involved in a clandestine Syrian chemical weapons program. The missile attacks came just as a team of international inspectors was set to arrive at the scene to collect evidence of the supposed attack.

Later, residents of the area told journalists that the footage of the treatment of the alleged victims of the attack was filmed by the White Helmets group after they orchestrated a panic at a local hospital. The patients there were not poisoned by chlorine, local medics said. The footage was presented by the mainstream media as proof that an attack took place.
On August 22, US National Security Advisor John Bolton stated that “if the Syrian regime uses chemical weapons, we will respond very strongly and they really ought to think about this a long time.”

Bin Salman's Advisors Propose Shifting War from Yemen to Lebanon

Bin Salman's Advisors Propose Shifting War from Yemen to Lebanon
TEHRAN (FNA)- A Lebanese newspaper said Saudi officials and advisors and deputies of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have in a recent meeting asked him to replace the war on Yemen with a proxy war in Lebanon.

A secret diplomatic cable sent to influential parties in Lebanon disclosed the contents of a recent meeting in Riyadh, headed by bin Salman and attended by Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubair and Intelligence Chief Khaled al-Hamidan, the Arabic-language al-Akhbar reported on Monday.

During the meeting, the recent developments in Syria, including liberation of the Southern parts of the country by the army and Russia's cooperation with Damascus, as well as the results of the Yemen war went under discussion.

"Bin Salman's deputies proposed him to transfer the battle from Yemen to the internal scene in Lebanon. They said that after increasing economic pressures on Iran and Hezbollah to make them leave Syria, now it is good to transfer the battle from Yemen to Lebanon," al-Akhbar reported, implying that the offer included start of a proxy war on Lebanon.

The Lebanese paper declined to reveal further details of the meeting or the plan.

Saudi Arabia has a clear record of interference in Lebanon.

In a relevant development in November, Riyadh held hostage Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri.

Lebanon's president accused Saudi Arabia of holding hostage al-Hariri along with his family - the first time he has explicitly said he was being held – at the time, and called this an act of aggression.

"We will not accept him remaining a hostage whose reason for detention we do not know," President Michel Aoun said in a statement.

Turkey Calls on Syrian Army to Delay Operation against Terrorists in Idlib
TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian sources were quoted on Monday by a media outlet as disclosing that Ankara has called on Damascus to delay military operation against terrorist groups in Idlib province.

The Arabic-language Sputnik quoted a Russian military source as disclosing that Turkish officials have called on their Syrian counterparts via Russian channels to delay military operation in Idlib until September 4.

It further said that Ankara is trying hard to dissolve Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front), adding that Russia has informed the Syrian government of the Turkish officials' commitment to the dissolution of Tahrir al-Sham and other militant groups or a reconciliation deal between the terrorists and Damascus.

The report further said that the Syrian Army has continued dispatching more forces and equipment to Idlib, Hama and Northeastern Lattakia in spite of Turkey's attempts to delay the upcoming operation.

In the meantime, militant-affiliated sources reported that Tahrir al-Sham and the National Liberation Front, which was recently formed by Turkey, held several meetings to form a joint operation room to counter the Syrian Army's major operation in Idlib.

The sources said that the operation room that aims to include the entire militant groups in Northern Syria has reinvigorated its defense capabilities in Lattakia, Hama, Idlib and Aleppo.

On Sunday, the army sent a convoy, including thirty military vehicles, tanks and other equipment to Northern Hama.

The newly-arrived army forces deployed to Jabal al-Turkmen and Salman regions in Northern Lattakia, Abu Dali and Abu Omar regions in Hama and Abu al-Dhohour base in Eastern Idlib.

A military convoy was also forwarded to Jourin in al-Ghaab Plain in Western Idlib.

The army also opened several humanitarian safe corridors to evacuate civilians as the zero hour is arriving for the government forces' operation.

In the meantime, the army's artillery and missile units pounded terrorists' positions and movements in the villages and towns of al-Zakat, Hasraya, Latmin, al-Masasana and Ma'arkabah, inflicting major losses on the militants.

Turkey's Attempts to Annex Occupied Afrin Enrage Civilians in Northern Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- A new growing wave of rage covered villages and towns in Afrin region in Northwestern Aleppo after the Turkish troops and Ankara-backed militants intensified their efforts to annex the occupied region to Turkish territory.

The Turkish army units and their allied militants continued giving Turkish names to pave the ground for annexation of the occupied region.

The Ankara forces' measures further enraged residents in Afrin region.

The Ankara forces have forced thousands of civilians and villagers in Afrin region to leave their residential units, and then occupied their units and properties.

The Turkish troops and allied militants have continued arresting people, looting their assets and blackmailing their family members for their release all throughout the last several months.

Earlier this month, Ankara embarked on changing streets' names and numbers in the occupied town of Afrin under fresh attempts to annex the region to its soil.

Local sources reported that Afrin Local City Council affiliated to the Ankara-backed Free Army embarked on renaming streets and squares in the town.

The sources said that some of the streets and squares were named after Turkish figures, adding that the names of streets were written in both Arabic and Turkish alphabets.

They went on to say that the Ankara-backed militants were changed al-Saraya Square to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Square and Kawa Square to Olive Branch Square that was the codename of a military operation by the Turkish troops in the region.

Turkey Continues Providing Support for Terrorists in Northwestern Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Turkish Army men, deployed in truce monitoring points, continue providing supports for the movements of Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) terrorists, Russian state media reported on Saturday.

The Arabic-language website of Russia's state-run Sputnik news agency quoted a military source as reporting that Tahrir al-Sham attacked the Syrian Army positions under the support of the Turkish troops deployed in truce monitoring point in Ma'arat al-Nu'aman region in Southern Idlib.

It further said that the Syrian soldiers repelled terrorists' attack, and inflicted heavy casualties on them, though.

Earlier reports said that terrorist groups, deployed in Northwestern Syria, went on alert as the government forces reinvigorated their combat capabilities for an imminent large-scale operation in Idlib, Lattakia, Hama and Aleppo provinces.

The National Liberation Front kept fighters on alert in Northwestern Syria, urging allied militants to help them counter the Damascus forces' major operation in the region.

In the meantime, the army sent hundreds of forces and a large volume of military hardware, including tanks, personnel carrier and armored vehicles, to mountains in Northeastern Lattakia, Northern Hama and Southern Idlib.

A military source, meantime, said that the army has reinvigorated its positions in Hama, al-Ghaab plain and Jabal al-Turkmen after dispatching several convoys to the region via the road connecting al-Saqilibiyeh to Mahrada.

The source further said that the army is planning to kick off simultaneous operations in different flanks in Lattakia and Western Hama.

Tensions Intensify between Civilians, Turkey-Backed Militants in Northern Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- People in Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo engaged again in heavy fighting with the Ankara-backed militants that continued looting public and private assets in occupied regions in Northern Syria on Tuesday.

Turkey-backed Sultan Murad militants stormed the village of Kari in Bolboleh region, beating the villagers.

The attack came after the villagers protested against looting their assets by Ankara forces.

The villagers further engaged in heavy fighting with the militants and seized their weapons.

The militants later dispatched more gunmen to the village and captured a sum of 20 people.

In the meantime, other Ankara-backed militants kidnapped a number of people in the village of Karzileh in Afrin to blackmail their families.

On Saturday, hundreds of civilians took to the streets in Jarabulus at border with Turkey and called for expulsion of Ankara-backed militants from their town.

The uprising came after the Turkey-backed militants opened fire at a marriage ceremony, killing one of residents of Jarabulus.

Dozens of people have been recently gunned down by the Turkey-led Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch militants in the villages and towns in Northern Syria.

Turkish, Qatari Central Banks Ink Currency Swap Deal
TEHRAN (FNA)- The central banks of Qatar and Turkey signed a currency swap agreement in the Qatari capital Doha.
According to sources from the Turkish central bank, the first step has been taken after Qatar pledged $15 billion of investment package in Turkey last Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported.
The agreement aims to enhance bilateral cooperation between two banks by setting a two-way currency exchange line.
It will provide liquidity and support for financial stability, along with facilitating exchange of trade between Turkey and Qatar. The agreement will also contribute to the enrichment of reserves of both countries.
The funding for the first phase of the deal is expected to be worth $3 billion.

US Rebuffs Effort to Tether Bank Fine to Pastor’s Release
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Donald Trump administration rejected an effort by Turkey to tie the release of a US pastor with relief for a major Turkish bank facing billions of dollars in US fines, telling Ankara other issues are off the table until the minister is freed, according to a senior White House official.
The jailing of Andrew Brunson has triggered the worst crisis between the two countries in decades and helped push the Turkish currency to record lows in recent months. The rejection of a possible trade sets the stage for the US to impose another round of penalties against Ankara as soon as this week, WSJ reported.
The administration wants Turkey to release Brunson and other citizens it holds on disputed terrorism charges, as well as three Turkish nationals who work for the US government.
Turkey, seeking a gesture in exchange, asked the US to drop an investigation into Halkbank , which is facing potentially crippling fines for allegedly violating US sanctions on Iran.
The White House official said the US made clear to Turkey that areas of dispute between the two nations, including the fines Halkbank faces, won’t be discussed until Brunson has been released.
“A real NATO ally wouldn’t have arrested Brunson in the first place,” the senior White House official stated, referring to Turkey’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
The Trump administration imposed sanctions against two top Turkish officials earlier this month, and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the US was prepared to take tougher steps.
On Friday, President Trump called the charges against Brunson “phony”, adding that “we are not going to take it sitting down”.
The US and Turkey have been in prolonged negotiations over a major fine against Halkbank, but the talks stalled. Halkbank is also facing further investigation in the US.
Halkbank recently complied with a subpoena request from the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets and Control, but its response was deemed insufficient, the White House official said.
Washington has told Ankara that Halkbank must comply properly with the US legal process before any discussions about relief could be entertained, the official added.
A Treasury spokesman declined to comment. The Turkish embassy in Washington didn’t respond to a request for comment. Halkbank couldn’t be reached for comment.
The Turkish government has said accusations that Halkbank helped Iran evade US sanctions are groundless and based on fabricated documents.
The bank, formally known as Turkiye Halk Bankasi A.S., is one of Turkey’s largest state lenders. It has denied any wrongdoing.
Other points of dispute between the two nations include Turkey’s retaliation against US exports after the Trump administration placed tariffs on imported aluminum and steel. The US Trade Representative’s Office has also started a review of Turkey’s duty-free access to US markets.
Brunson, a 50-year-old North Carolina native, has been accused by Turkish officials of aiding the group accused of orchestrating a failed July 2016 military coup and another group of Kurdish separatists battling the Turkish military. He has been held since October 2016.
Brunson’s fate−he is now held under house arrest−has been a major cause for evangelical Christians and a priority for Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

Army Gen. Reveals 5 Scenarios for Syrian Gov't to Confront Terrorists in Idlib

Army Gen. Reveals 5 Scenarios for Syrian Gov't to Confront Terrorists in Idlib
TEHRAN (FNA)- A retired major general of the Syrian army said the government in Damascus faces different scenarios to be pursued to liberate the terrorist-held Idlib province.

"Some terrorists who have joined different groups reject any talks with the government, but there are militants who are in contacts with the government, provide it with intelligence and condemn the terrorist groups. They have also voiced preparedness to fight beside the Syrian army. We are also facing terrorists who have come from outside Syria. Therefore, we have several options and scenarios," Major General Mohammad Abbas told FNA on Monday.

"The first scenario is intensified military attacks and regaining control over all regions occupied by the terrorists and crippling them; the second scenario is that Turkey closes its borders to the terrorists; the third scenario is that Turkey transfers the militant groups loyal to Ankara to Northeastern Syria to stand against the Syrian Kurdish fighters within the framework of the Euphrates Shield Operation," he added.

Abbas explained that the fourth scenario entails the US gathering and transferring the terrorist commanders to other regions, similar to what was done with the White Helmets in Golan. A fifth scenario, he said, includes the death of all the terrorists who reject government amnesty.

"The last scenario comes closer to reality, in my view, as it includes military action accompanied by national reconciliation plans," he said.

Relevant reports said on Sunday that terrorist groups in Northwestern Syria have put increasing efforts on forced recruitment of young men to send them to battlefields in Idlib, Hama, Lattakia and Aleppo provinces to counter the Syria Army's imminent operation.

The Arabic-language website of Sputnik reported that commanders of the terrorist groups, including Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front), the National Liberation Front, al-Turkistani Islamic party and two more al-Qaeda-affiliated Ajnad al-Qafqaz and Horas al-Deen held a meeting in Idlib city on Friday to reinvigorate their defense capacities to counter the army's upcoming operation.

It further said that the terrorist groups have increased forced recruitment of young men to send them to the battlefields in Idlib, Hama, Lattakia and Aleppo provinces.

The report added that ISIL terrorists have in the last few day deployed to Northern and Western Idlib, specially in regions held by Tahrir al-Sham and al-Turkistani and also to the towns of al-Dana, Sarmada, Darkoush and Jisr al-Shughour at Idlib's borders with Turkey and Lattakia province.

Emir of Tahrir al-Sham Abu Mohammad al-Joulani, in a meeting with ISIL commanders on Saturday, insisted on boosting unity among the two terrorist groups to face the army's advances.
