RT2018/8/30
Flesh-eating bacteria claims 71yo man’s arm after he ate contaminated sushi
Doctors were forced to amputate a 71-year-old man's left arm after he presented at a South Korean hospital with a two-day fever and agonizing pain in his left hand, both of which developed shortly after he ate raw seafood.

Medics at the Chonbuk National University Medical School in Jeonju, South Korea were alarmed by a huge, purple blister, which measured 3.5cm by 4.5cm (1.4 by 1.8 inches), that had developed on the man’s hand and forearm.

Despite emergency surgery and treatment with antibiotics to remove the blisters and contain the infection, deep necrotic ulcers formed and surgeons were forced to amputate the man’s arm 25 days after he initially arrived in hospital, according to a case report in The New England Journal of Medicine.

Separately, another 71-year-old man from Florida died from an infection caused by the bacteria in June after eating raw oysters. The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 80,000 people are infected with the bacteria each year, of whom roughly 100 die.

Russia blocks UN Security Council report on North Korea

RT2018/8/30
Russia has decided to halt discussions of a United Nations Security Council report on North Korea, due to disagreement on some of its points and concern over parts of it being leaked before publication, Moscow's UN envoy has said.

Russia has blocked the upcoming report of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee on North Korea (the 1718 Committee) on the implementation of sanctions against North Korea and its nuclear program, demanding that it be amended.

"The discussion was vivid... we put on hold the report of the Committee 1718, because we disagree with certain elements of the report and on the conduct of the business itself. I will not dwell upon it because the report, before it is published, is confidential," Vassily Nebenzia, the Russian representative at the UN told the media.

Nebenzia reiterated that Russia has been vocally against any part of the report being made public prematurely.

"We and other delegations expressed concern on the regular leaks of the committee information into the press, you can look it up in the Internet,” he said. He added that while Russia has filed a request for the committee to investigate the leaks, “some members are not very willing to do so,” so Moscow decided to pursue this issue “individually.”

Russia will hold consultations with the head of the commitee about how to proceed further, Nebenzia said. At the moment, the UN has been doing virtually nothing to identify the source of the leaks since “certain parties” within the committee have been opposing Russia’s request.

“It’s not going anywhere,” Nebenzia said, calling the leaks “inadmissible” and “against the principle of the work of the committee.”

Many of the reservations Russia had expressed about the contents of the report have not been taken into account in the exisitng draft, the Russian diplomat revealed.

The confidential report on the implementation of sanctions imposed on North Korea was leaked by Reuters on August 4. According to the leaks, the report, a six-month review by independent experts, alleges that Pyongyang did not halt its nuclear and missile program and was supplying certain states in the Middle East and Africa with weapons, thus violating the UN sanctions. Among the alleged customers of the reclusive state are the Houthi rebels, fighting against the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. North Korea is also accused of shipping fuel, including coal and petroleum, which is prohibited under the strict sanctions’ regime as well.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has previously said it was “outraged” by unauthorized leaks from the committee, demanding a thorough investigation of what it described as “the flagrant violation of the rules and practice of the committee as well as basic diplomatic ethics.”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova suggested that the ultimate purpose of the leak was to advance the “maximum pressure” campaign against Pyongyang spearheaded by the US

Don’t tell him, Pike! The laughable (yet sinister) list of ‘International Assadists’

A newly-compiled directory of 151 ‘International Assadists’ is both hilarious - for all the mistakes in it, but disturbing too, as it represents a McCarthyite attempt to police the debate on Syria.

"McCarthyite" は、マッカーシズム(赤狩り)信奉者
・同調者の という意味のようですから、"a McCarthyite attempt" は「共産主義の脅威を誇張し個人や団体を抑圧した政治活動に似た試み」ということになります。

作者は、Kester Ratcliff, an ‘EvoBio’ Msc student based in Groningen, in The Netherlands。

‘EvoBio’は Evolutionary Computation, Machine Learning and Data Mining for Biology and Medicine

‘Assadist list’ nothing more than McCarthyism paired with ‘hoodwink’ science
To paraphrase those Hollywood actors when dragged before the arc-lights of the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC): “I am not now nor have I ever been an Assadist.”

In the long stand-off between Syria and Iraq, with all its ruinous consequences, I was with Iraq. Between 1980 and 2002 – 22 years – I never set foot in Syria and wouldn't have been welcome if I had. I have a house named after the Beirut Palestinian refugee camp Tel al-Zaatar which was razed to the ground by the Syrians with many residents massacred. My first ever solidarity mission – more than 40 years ago – was to collect bagpipes for the orphans’ band from Tel al-Zaatar.

I met the late president Hafez Assad only once – at a World Peace Conference in Damascus where I shared the stage with him, Yasser Arafat and others. I was 26 years old.

I have met the now-president Bashar Assad only twice – both times in formal meetings.

I have zero relations with the government in Syria and never have had. In fact I denounced sections of the regime under examination by Michael Mansfield QC in an inquest not that long ago.

It’s true that in the existential battle for the Syrian Arab Republic between the Assad government and its motley array of enemies I have stood foursquare with the Republic. It’s true that in a fight between the Assad forces and the head-chopping, heart-eating Islamist fanatics of Islamic State, Al-Qaeda and the alphabet soup of extremism they have spawned, I stand with the former rather than the latter. But then what sentient being without an ulterior agenda wouldn't?

It’s true I have said that Assad is being targeted by imperialism, not for the bad things about his political system, but for the opposite reasons.

The West is not against authoritarian regimes in the Middle East, to the contrary – all of its best friends are such. The West is not against one-party – even one-family – rule in the Middle East, to the contrary – we have preferred them, armed them and had the closest possible relations with such states in the Middle East for a 100 years. The West is not against rigged elections in the Middle East, to the contrary. We have facilitated them ever since such farcical elections began.

Syria as been targeted by imperialism and its local satrapies for other reasons. Because of its historic relationship with Russia, it has been the victim of a proxy war, in effect a war against Russia by other means.

Because it refuses to make a surrender peace with Israel, giving up in the process its sovereign territory on the illegally annexed Golan Heights.

Because it refuses to break relations with the Lebanese resistance, and with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Because it refused to allow its territory to be used as a back-door entry into Iraq to facilitate the Anglo-American illegal invasion and occupation of its neighbor.

For all these reasons I repeat what I have said many times: the Syrian Arab Republic is the last castle of Arab dignity.

But none of that makes me an Assadist. It just makes me an enemy of his enemies.

Yet I have made the Assadist List, compiled by a student scribbler, a Kester Ratcliff, whose name needn’t detain us for long. He is his masters’ voice and his masters are whom we should focus on.

Mind you I am in good company on the list. My friend, Right Honourable Jeremy Corbyn PC MP, Leader of Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for one. The multiply-commended award-winning, regularly British Foreign Correspondent of the year Patrick Cockburn is another. The Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott MP is another. As is Mother Agnes Mariam De La Croix, the Mother Superior of the Monastery of St James the Mutilated in Syria. The veteran Trotskyite leader Tariq Ali, who led my first ever demonstration against the war in Vietnam in 1968 when I was 14 years old, is another.

The redoubtable American author and journalist Max Blumenthal is apparently an Assadist, as is the Fox News host Tucker Carlson, as is Noam Chomsky! Baroness Cox of the British House of Lords makes the list as does Ireland’s finest MP Clare Daly. The American comedian Jimmy Dore is an Assadist, don’t you know!

Britain's best known foreign correspondent Robert Fisk makes the cut as does future US presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard. The world's most famous journalist Seymour Hersh is there – an Assadist, who’d a thunk it?

The quintessential English Christian gentleman newspaperman Peter Hitchens is too, as is the doyen of English journalism Simon Jenkins or, Sir Simon Jenkins FSA FRSL, to give him his Sunday name. An Assadist (if only the Queen had known when she tapped his shoulder with her sword at Buckingham Palace).

Boris Johnson, the erstwhile British Foreign Secretary – he’s an Assadist! (although possibly only because of his “foolishness”)

Owen Jones, the liberal milksop from the Guardian newspaper, who witch-hunted Mother Agnes from public platforms in England on the grounds SHE was an Assadist, well, you’ve guessed it, he’s an Assadist too (though a “milder” Assadist).

The British Shadow Foreign Secretary – a well known “Friend of Israel” – Emily Thornberry is an Assadist. As is the former Associate Editor of the Guardian, Seumas Milne.

I could go on, believe me, there are 151 of us – but you have probably already got the picture. This list of Assadists is a farrago of foolishness, a soupcon of silliness, a pile of what the Pope called at the weekend – “the material of the toilet bowl.”

As such it could be laughed off as the teenage student scribbling that it is.

But just like the McCarthyite witch-hunts in 1950s America, this kind of malignant list-making can have consequences for those listed. Many of those never worked or were able to travel again. For some on this list the potential consequences could be graver still. Some on the Assadist list should be subject to criminal sanctions, according to the author.

It is fitting perhaps that the list comes complete with a diagram which looks like the unhinged green-ink scrawling of a madman in a hospital for the criminally insane. It purports to map all of those listed as somehow connected even though many of us hate each other’s guts. I could make a diagram of the connections between the gun-runners, the financiers and the propagandists for the Jihadists and the crucifying Islamist Pol Pots doing their dirty work. Whilst it would make a more convincing case, ennui I’m afraid precludes it.

In any case the great Western effort to overthrow Assad and destroy the Syrian Arab Republic has failed. All their money, all their weapons, all the blood they shed have been to no avail – except for the hundreds of thousands of lives they destroyed. Come to think of it, a hospital for the criminally insane is perhaps the best place for the author and his patrons.

Russia calls on US, Germany to convince rebels to avoid escalations in Idlib
Moscow calls on Washington and Berlin to influence armed opposition groups and terrorists in Syria’s Idlib with whom they are keeping in contact, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters on Tuesday.
“We want to call on colleagues in Washington and Berlin, using the opportunities that they have, to influence the armed opposition members and terrorist structures – in the latter case I’m speaking about the US, not about Germany – with which they retain contact,” the deputy foreign minister said, commenting on German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Donald Trump’s appeal to Moscow to influence Damascus regarding the situation in the governorate.
German Speaker of Government Steffen Seibert earlier released a statement on the telephone conversation between Merkel and Trump, which says that the German and US leaders called on Russia to influence Syria’s government to avoid escalation of tensions in Idlib.

Syrian Air Defense on Alert to Counter US Possible Raid
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army's Air Defense Units are fully ready to counter any possible US attack on military bases as terrorists are preparing to stage a false-flag chemical attack in Idlib to provide an excuse for a US airstrike, a media source reported on Tuesday.

The Arabic-language website of the AMN reported that the Syrian Air Defense Systems have been put on alert to counter a possible attack by the US forces.

It further said that Mezeh airport is also on alert.

The news website went on to say that the Syrian army has relocated a number of its planes and helicopters from Hama to other bases, including Mezeh, al-Sha'ayrat, Kuweires and Lattakia, to evade any possible targeting in the possible US raid.

The Russian Defense Ministry accused the US, UK and France of paving the ground to launch air attacks on Syrian under the pretext of chemical attack by the Damascus forces on non-military targets.

The Arabic-language website of Sputnik quoted well-informed sources as disclosing on Monday that the White Helmets transferred a consignment of chemicals from chlorine-producing company in Atmah at border with Turkey to Northern Hama on Sunday night.

It further said that the chemical consignment that was hidden in five trucks for carrying sands was transferred from Northern Idlib to Northern Hama under tight security measures.

The sources told Sputnik that a false-flag chemical attack will be possibly carried out following movements by Tahrir al-Sham and the White Helmets to pave the ground for the US' aggression on Syria.

Terrorists on Alert as Syrian Army Prepares for Major Operation in Idlib
TEHRAN (FNA)- Terrorist groups, deployed in Northwestern Syria, went on alert on Saturday as the government forces reinvigorated their combat capabilities for an imminent large-scale operation in Idlib, Lattakia, Hama and Aleppo provinces.

The National Liberation Front kept fighters on alert in Northwestern Syria, urging allied militants to help them counter the Damascus forces' major operation in the region.

In the meantime, the army sent hundreds of forces and a large volume of military hardware, including tanks, personnel carrier and armored vehicles, to mountains in Northeastern Lattakia, Northern Hama and Southern Idlib.

A military source, meantime, said that the army has reinvigorated its positions in Hama, al-Ghaab plain and Jabal al-Turkmen after dispatching several convoys to the region via the road connecting al-Saqilibiyeh to Mahrada.

The source further said that the army is planning to kick off simultaneous operations in different flanks in Lattakia and Western Hama.

Last week, the army launched heavy attacks on Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at positions in Northern Hama, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The artillery and missile units shelled heavily the positions and movements of Tahrir al-Sham and other terrorist groups in al-Latamina and Ma'arkaba in Northern Hama, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists and damaging their military hardware.

Also last Thursday, the army forces targeted Tahrir al-Sham and other terrorist groups' moves and key bases in areas near the town of al-Latamina in Northern Hama, killing and wounding a number of them and destroying their weapons.

They also smashed one of the important positions of Tahrir al-Sham in the town of al-Khowein in Southern Idlib, killing all the militants inside, including two of their ringleaders named Rezwan Salih and Abdullatif Khalid al-Qadour.

Meantime, the army's artillery units attacked a large gathering of Tahrir al-Sham in areas near the town of Saraqib in Southern Idlib, destroying several military vehicles and killing and injuring a large number of terrorists.

Also, the Syrian army attacked militants' positions and moves in the town of Sakik in Southern Idlib, killing and wounding several terrorists.

Russia Sends Three Naval Ships to Syria as Idlib Offensive Approaching
TEHRAN (FNA)- For the first time in two years, the Russian Navy has sent three large ships to Syria’s Port of Tartus along the Mediterranean Sea.

According to Yoruk Isik of the Bosphorus Observer, three Russian ships recently sailed through the Bosphorus Strait towards Syria’s territorial waters, the AMN reported.

The three ships were identified Isik as the BSF Krivak Class frigate Pytlivy, the BSF Tapir class LST Orsk, and the BSF Tapir class LST Nikolay Filchenkov.

This move by the Russian Navy comes just days before the Syrian Army gears up for their long-awaited offensives in the Lattakia, Hama and Idlib provinces.

FARSNEWS2018/8/25
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian Defense Ministry accused the United States, the United Kingdom and France of preparing to carry out new strikes against Syria under the pretext of chemical weapons use by the Syrian government forces.

"The Western countries' actions in spite of their public statements are aimed at another sharp deterioration of the situation in the Middle East region and the disruption of the peace process on the territory of Syria," defense ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov noted, Sputnik reported.

According to the spokesman, militants in the Idlib province are preparing to stage the use of chemical weapons against civilians by the government.

"To carry out the alleged "chemical attack" in the city of Jisr al-Shughur in the province of Idlib, the Tahrir al-Sham group (affiliated with the Jabhat Nusra terror organization) militants had delivered 8 tankers with chlorine… to a village a few kilometers from Jisr al-Shughur," the general stated.

For this purpose, USS The Sullivans destroyer with 56 cruise missiles on board arrived in the Persian Gulf several days ago, while a US В-1В bomber carrying 24 air-to-surface AGM-158 JASSM cruise missiles was deployed at Al Udeid air base in Qatar, the spokesman suggested.

"This provocation with the active participation of the British special services will serve as another pretext for the US, UK and France to conduct a missile strike on the Syrian government and economic facilities," Konashenkov said.

A group of militants trained under the guidance by British private military company Olive to work with poisonous substances has arrived in Idlib, the defense ministry added.

"The militants are tasked with imitating the rescue of the victims of chemical weapons' use in the vestments of the notorious White Helmets," the spokesman noted.

According to Konashenkov, "unfounded" statements vowing to respond to chemical weapons' use by the Syrian government made by a number of high-ranking representatives of the US, UK and France serve as indirect evidence of the preparation of another "act of aggression against Syria by the United States and its allies".

On August 23, National Security Adviser John Bolton reportedly told Russian Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev that America is prepared to respond with the greater force it has used in Syria before.

The US, UK, and France coordinated a massive airstrike on Syria in April 2018 after the alleged use of the chemical weapons in Douma had been reported by the controversial "White Helmets" NGO, which has repeatedly been caught staging false flag attacks.

However, OPCW experts announced in July they had found traces of organic substances containing chlorine, reportedly used in the attack in Douma. Yet there was no evidence that nerve agents had been used in the attack.

The first Western missile attack on Syrian government forces was conducted by the United States on April 7 after Washington had accused Damascus of being behind the alleged chemical weapons use in the settlement of Khan Sheikhoun in the Idlib province.

Damascus has strongly denied the claims, with President Bashar Assad saying that the attack was a provocation aimed to justify the US strike on Syria.

Moscow Calls on Washington, London, Paris Not to Exert Pressure on Damascus
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Friday that Moscow calls on the US, the UK and France to stop using the chemical issue to exert pressure over Damascus and its allies.

The foreign ministry pointed to the statement made by the Western "Three" - the three permanent members of the UN Security Council - on the fifth anniversary of the tragedy with the use of sarin in Eastern Ghouta, TASS reported.

"It is regrettable that Washington, London and Paris used this date, which is tragic for the Syrian people and the whole global community, for promoting their destructive course aimed at discrediting the Syrian president," the foreign ministry noted.

"We call on the pseudo-protectors of the interests of the Syrian people and their accomplices who are following their destructive course to stop using the chemical issue for exerting pressure over Damascus and its allies," it added.

The foreign ministry stated that a number of Western and Middle Eastern states "descended to such inhuman provocations as the chemical attack in Eastern Ghouta committed by terrorists under their Western sponsors’ order" to discredit Syria’s authorities.

It has been long clear to all, including independent experts, that "this and similar barbaric acts were committed by ISIS (Daesh or ISIL), militants from the so-called moderate opposition and non-government organizations servicing their interests, such as the notorious White Helmets, that were created and sponsored from abroad".

"It is not a coincidence that the White Helmet members are being urgently evacuated from Syria while Syrian territories are being cleared from terrorists. It is obviously being done to conceal the true essence of their goal and criminal activity," the statement said.

Moscow stated again that the current situation with the chemical report incited by the Western countries "is inseparably associated with their strive to fulfill their own geopolitical ambitions in the Middle East".

"In light of this, we regard the persistent attempts to turn the purely technical Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons into a tool for political pressure by attaching to its Technical Secretariat attributive functions to determine those guilty in the use of the chemical weapons which are not stipulated in the relevant [Chemical Weapons] Convention," the document read.

By the end of the summer 2013 Washington’s position over the Syrian conflict had drastically changed due to the reported uses of chemical weapons in the republic. The UN experts confirmed five cases: on March 19 in the Aleppo suburb of Khan al-Asal, on April 29 in Saraqeb in the North of the country, and on August 21, 24 and 25 in the Damascus suburbs of Eastern Ghouta, Jobar and Ashrafieh-Sahnaya. The heaviest death toll was reported in Eastern Ghouta, where from 280 (according to the French intelligence) to 1,700 people (according to the Syrian opposition) were killed in the attacks with the nerve gas sarin.

FARSNEWS2018/8/30
FBI Refutes Clinton's Private Server Was Hacked By China
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that it has not found any evidence that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email had been hacked as part of a Chinese government op, as US President Donald Trump tweeted earlier.

“The FBI has not found any evidence the servers were compromised,” its statement read, RIA Novosti reported.

The US president said on Twitter early on Wednesday China hacked the emails of 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, but did not offer any evidence or further information.

“Hillary Clinton’s Emails, many of which are Classified Information, got hacked by China. Next move better be by the FBI & DOJ or, after all of their other missteps (Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, FISA, Dirty Dossier etc.), their credibility will be forever gone!” he tweeted a little after midnight on Wednesday.

“China hacked Hillary Clinton’s private Email Server. Are they sure it wasn’t Russia (just kidding!)? What are the odds that the FBI and DOJ are right on top of this? Actually, a very big story. Much classified information!” Trump said in an earlier tweet on Tuesday night.

Clinton, who ran against Trump in the 2016 election, used a private server and email accounts for official business during her tenure as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013 contrary to US regulation and established practice.

In 2015, the FBI launched a full investigation into the "potential unauthorized transmission and storage of classified information" on Clinton's personal email server. The agency revealed that a substantial part of her correspondences contained classified information. Still, after a year-long probe, FBI Director James Comey recommended no charges against Clinton in July 2016.

The bureau briefly reopened the investigation prior to the 2016 US presidential election due to newly discovered emails that may have been be pertinent to the case, but then closed the second probe, saying it stood by its earlier decision not to criminally prosecute Clinton.

Nothing New: China Says About Trump Accusation of Clinton Email Hack
TEHRAN (FNA)- China’s Foreign Ministry, asked on Wednesday about US President Donald Trump’s claim that China hacked the emails of 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, said such allegations were nothing new.

China is a champion of cybersecurity and opposes all forms of hacking attacks, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a daily news briefing in Beijing, Reuters reproted.

Trump said on Twitter early on Wednesday China hacked the emails of 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, but did not offer any evidence or further information.

US intelligence officials have stated that Russia orchestrated the hacking of Democratic officials to meddle with the 2016 presidential election.

A US federal grand jury indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers in July on charges of hacking the computer networks of Clinton and the Democratic Party.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating Russia’s role in the 2016 election and whether the campaign of Republican candidate Trump colluded with Moscow. Russia denies meddling in the elections, while Trump has denied any collusion.

Trump stressed in April 2017 China may have hacked the emails of Democratic officials to meddle with the 2016 presidential election. He also did not provide any evidence backing his allegation at that time.

'Are they sure it wasn't the Russians?' Clinton's emails were reportedly hacked by China
China allegedly had unimpeded access to all of Hillary Clinton's communications through her private server when she was the Secretary of State, after planting a malware that copied emails in real time, a new report claims.

The report by the Daily Caller alleges that a Chinese-owned entity, controlled by Beijing, embedded malignant code into the private server former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate Clinton used for handling her correspondence, both personal and work-related, including that which included confidential information with up to top secret classification.

Using this code, the Chinese firm, said to be operating in Washington's northern Virginia suburbs, had a full access to emails Clinton sent through "courtesy copies" it received in real time, the report claims, citing "sources briefed on the matter."

According to the Daily Caller, the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) became aware of the "anomaly" in early 2015 and promptly alerted the FBI. ICIG investigator Frank Rucker and attorney Janette McMillan then repeatedly met with FBI agents to brief them on the matter, including with the notorious Peter Strzok. Strzok is a disgraced former member of FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team, which has been seeking evidence of US President Donald Trump's collusion with the Russians to no avail so far.

Strzok, known for injecting a personal anti-Trump vibe into his investigations, was once among those who led the agency's "Midyear Exam" investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server during her tenure at the US State Department.

At a July 18 hearing at the House Judiciary Committee, Strzok claimed he did meet Rucker on several occasions, but could not recall the subject matter of their conversations.

At the time, Gohmet accused Strzok of failing to act on the intelligence he allegedly received from the ICIG investigator, that a certain "anomaly" was uncovered on Clinton's server making "every single one except for four" out of some 30,000 emails on it being forwarded to an address that was not included on the distribution list. Gohmet stressed that the entity that received the emails was a foreign one but unrelated to Russia.

Although the name of the company that allegedly tapped into Clinton's private server is not disclosed in the report, a former intelligence official told the Daily Caller that it was a public company, not a tech one, but widely known to be the Chinese government's intelligence collection arm.

The potentially explosive revelation has caught attention of US President Donald Trump, who took to Twitter to tease Russiagaters.

"Are they sure it wasn't Russia (just kidding!)? What are the odds that the FBI and DOJ are right on top of this? Actually, a very big story. Much classified information!" Trump tweeted on Tuesday.

It remains to be seen if the hacking allegations against China will be given as much spotlight as those against Russia, however. Back in July, the Mueller team claimed in the indictment that alleged Russian hackers tried to hack into Clinton's private server "for the first time" on July 27, 2016, after "invited" by Trump who jokingly said he hopes Russia will be able to "find the 30,000 emails that are missing" from Clinton's private server.

It will take the US and its allies just 24 hours to ready its missile-strike group for an attack against Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. The statement comes amid warnings of a possible false-flag chemical attack.

Russian official sends stern warning to US about striking Syria
BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:15 A.M.) – The Russian Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, issued stern warning to the U.S. in regards to striking Syria.

“We warned the US against launching a new baseless and illegal aggression on Syria,” the Russian ambassador said via Twitter.

“The main thing is that we expressed our concerns about American signals of preparing new strikes on Syria on the pretext of possible use of “chemical weapons” by Syrians. We stressed that such a prospect is of grave concern for us. We called Washington to provide undelayed facts on the reasons why the topic with the use of chemical weapons by Damascus is further fueled,” Anatoly Antonov stated.

Antonov then accused the United Kingdom of working with militants to launch a chemical weapons attack that they would later blame on the Syrian government.

“This provocation, which is being prepared with active involvement of British Special Services, may become a pretext for the western ‘trio’ (Washington-London-Paris) to conduct another missile strike against Syrian military and civil infrastructure,” Antonov said.

“We are hopeful that the United States will do everything in their power to prevent the use of chemical weapons by terrorists and will act responsibly,” Antonov added on Wednesday.

Syrian gov’t allegedly holds secret meeting with US security officials: Al-Akhbar
Syria turned down an offer from the US to withdraw their forces from Al Tanf, a US base in the southeast and the East Euphrates zone in exchange for three concessions from the Syrian government, according to a report from Lebanese daily Al Akhbar.

Officials of “several US intelligence and security agencies” reportedly landed in a private UAE plane at Damascus International Airport in late June. They then took off in a convoy towards the center of Damascus for a meeting with the head of Syria’s national security office, Major General Ali Mamlouk.

The meeting reportedly lasted for four hours. The sides discussed multiple aspects of the seven-year war in the country before the Americans made their offer: a withdrawal of its troops from Al Tanf and the East Euphrates on three conditions, including a complete Iranian withdrawal, a share in Syria’s oil spoils, and intelligence on terrorists.

“I find the report almost entirely credible,” former UK Ambassador to Syria Peter Ford told Sputnik News.

The first condition was that Iran also withdraw fully from the country. Unlike the United States, Iran was invited by the Syrian government to help it fight Islamist insurrectionists and foreign proxies.

“Open sources were already reporting in June that the US was offering to put Al Tanf in the mix of a deal concerning the conditions under which Washington would acquiesce in the Syrian government’s campaign to recover the South,” Ford told Sputnik News. “It was also being reported that those conditions included Iran’s withdrawal from the south.”

Israel has been warring with fighters in the south of Syria near the country’s Golan Heights, which Israel illegally occupies.

Offering up Al Tanf “reflects the weakness of the US position in Syria,” Ford said. “In June the Americans knew they could not prevent the Syrian government’s campaign to take back the south − what could they do, risk conflict with Russia and retaliation by Iran against Israel by large-scale sustained bombing of Syria without any pretext?” Ford wondered.

Nonetheless, US President Donald Trump couldn’t appear weak to critics, and “hence the idea of striking a deal and throwing Al Tanf into the mix.”

“Unfortunately for the Americans, the Syrians no doubt assessed Al Tanf as low value. To some degree Al Tanf is more a liability to the US than an asset, containing as it does thousands of refugees living in pitiful conditions with hundreds of jihadis amongst them. Why should Syria pay a price to relieve the invader of a burden?” Ford posed.

“Looking forward, the lesson from this failed negotiation is that the Americans will no doubt come back at some point to suggest a similar deal with regard to the northeast, though again they will be holding a weak hand, because their position in the area is not tenable in the long term: they are already having the rug pulled from under their feet by the Kurds’ negotiations with Damascus,” he added. “In any case, the US devalue their own land-based assets every time they use their battle fleet to attack Syria.”

On Monday, Al Akhbar reported that Hezbollah had received a formal request from the Syrian government to stay in Syria after the liberation of the Idlib province from jihadists in order to help with “post-conflict reconciliation.”

As a second concession for an Al Tanf withdrawal, Al Akhbar said that the Americans also demanded a share in the oil sector of eastern Syria, which until recently was occupied by Daesh militants with a stronghold in Deir ez-Zor.

Third, the US officials also reportedly sought Syrian intelligence on terrorists who could present threats to Western countries in the future.

“The request for intelligence cooperation was not earlier divulged, but it makes logical sense. What seems to make less sense is that the US should demand concessions for US companies in the oil sector,” Ford said.

“Given that the US through its Kurdish/SDF [Syrian Democratic Forces] proxy controls large swathes of the oil producing region of the northeast, this would only seem to make sense in the context of a US withdrawal from that area as well as Al Tanf. Maybe this possibility was floated as well.”

“As to the demands for oil concessions and intelligence cooperation, Trump’s advisers may have thought that douceurs for Big Oil and Big Secrets (the intelligence agencies) would also help sweeten the bitter pill of the US ‘losing’ the South,” he added. “The inclusion of oil concessions certainly doesn’t sit well with US claims to be in Syria exclusively to defeat ISIS and protect human rights, though that will not overly worry this business-minded president.”

“With overall victory in sight, Damascus might only be interested in deal-making if the US put on the table not just withdrawal but also the chemical weapons card, the reconstruction card, the sanctions card, the Geneva card and possibly the Golan,” Ford said, adding, “This is not likely to happen.”

“Syria’s rejection of the deal reflected an astute assessment of the limited American options, as was borne out by subsequent events and recovery of the south without making any concessions to the US,” Ford said. “It also reflected the strategic view taken by Damascus of the partnership with Iran, not to be sacrificed under any circumstances.”

According to Al Akhbar, Mamlouk addressed each demand. Regarding the terrorists, he said that Syria has a “huge information structure” on them, but its disclosure is “linked to the evolution of your [the US’] political position on Syria.” He added that such information has already been shared with the Emiratis and Jordanians.

When it came to Syria’s oil reserves, Mamlouk reportedly told the Americans to get in line. “US companies can then enter the Syrian energy sector through Western or Russian companies,” Mamlouk said, adding that Syria isn’t interested in doing business with nations seeking their government’s overthrow, describing other Western and Russian firms as based in “countries that have not conspired against the Syrian people.”

“We will not have to give facilities to companies belonging to countries that have fought us and are still,” Mamlouk reportedly said.

When it came to an Iranian withdrawal, the Syrian official underscored his country’s sovereignty and position that the US is an “occupying force,” reportedly telling the Americans, “You entered our territory forcibly, without permission, and you can go out in the same way.”

“Syria is not a country cut off from a tree; it is part of a broad axis,” Mamlouk reportedly said, highlighting Syrian President Bashar Assad’s alliance with Tehran and Hezbollah.

“The demand for Iranian withdrawal was pushing at an open door,” the former ambassador told Sputnik News.

“The presence of Iran and allied militia in the south had already been greatly reduced, simply because it wasn’t required. The Americans must have known this but needed something for the Washington gallery.”

Russia denies any knowledge about US-Syrian peace talks
The Russian Foreign Ministry is unaware of the alleged negotiations between delegations of the US and Syrian intelligence services, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said Wednesday.

“We do not have such information,” Bogdanov told reporters.
On Tuesday, Lebanese Al Akhbar newspaper reported citing sources that the US high-ranking delegation had visited Damascus in June and held a meeting with senior officials of the Syrian security agencies.

The US delegation reportedly stated that Washington would pull out its troops from Syria if Iranian forces are withdrawn from southern Syria, US companies are granted oil concessions in Syria’s east and the US side is fully provided with information about terrorist groups in Syria, in particular, foreign fighter who could return to the Western countries.

Speaking further, Bogdanov said that the Russian Foreign Ministry did not have information on alleged US preparations to deploy a missile defense network in northern Syria.

“It is necessary to ask our American colleagues, I do not know,” Bogdanov told reporters.

Former Commander of Syria’s Deir ez-Zor Military Assembly Fayez Esmer told Yeni Safak newspaper Tuesday that the Pentagon is getting ready to set a missile defense shield in Syria’s northeastern Al Hasakah and Rmelan.

Iranian DM Stresses Necessity for Protection of Syria's Territorial Integrity
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami underscored the need for continued efforts to safeguard Syria's territorial integrity.

"Maintenance of Syria's territorial integrity and respect for Syria's national sovereignty will strengthen regional security because security of the regional states is interwoven," General Hatami said in a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Ali Abdullah Ayyoub in Damascus on Sunday.

He also emphasized his country's continued support for the Syrian army's efforts to fully purge the terrorists from Syria.

General Hatami also warned that the trans-regional states are after sowing discord among the regional countries and creating rift in Syria.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has opposed any idea and plan to disintegrate Syria since the very first day," he underlined.

General Ayyoub, for his part, said that the Iranian and Syrian military commanders are in continued contacts with each other, noting, "We do not allow any third party to interfere in the two countries' relations."

In relevant remarks earlier today, General Hatami underscored Tehran's enthusiasm for partnership in reconstruction of Syria after helping the country in anti-terrorism campaign.

"We hope to have active partnership in the reconstruction of Syria," General Hatami told reporters upon arrival in Damascus at the invitation of his Syrian counterpart General Ayyoub.

He said that the main goal of his trip is development of mutual cooperation in the new environment of Syria that is focused on reconstruction.

General Hatami felicitated the victories of the resistance front against the terrorists, describing it as a milestone in regional cooperation.

He is also due to confer with the high-ranking Syrian officials on regional developments, fight against terrorism, ways to strengthen the resistance front and efforts to further broaden defense and military cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.

Iran’s DM Meets Syrian President Assad in Damascus
At the Sunday meeting, the Iranian minister praised the Syrian nation’s steadfastness in countering terrorism, adding that people in the world and region are indebted to Syria counter-terrorism efforts.

Hatami said he trusts in the Syrian nation’s ability to continue the fight against terrorists until uprooting terrorism and achieving a complete victory.

He went on to say that Iran supports unity in Syria regardless of threats and pressure from some countries, underlining that Tehran is currently ready to participate in the reconstruction process of the country.

"To that end, the private sector of the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys good capabilities and can use them in the reconstruction of Syria," General Hatami said.

The Syrian president, for his part, welcomed the visit by the Iranian minister and his accompanied delegation amid the recent victories made by the Syrian army and its allies.

He said Iran and Syria have strong and stable relations and all rumors and negative propaganda about the two sides’ ties will leave no impact on the firm bilateral relations that have been founded since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Assad also pointed to the Israeli attacks on Syria, saying they indicate the Zionist regime’s fear.

Tehran will help rebuild Syria, says Iran defence minister
Iran has provided steady political, financial and military backing to Damascus in the civil war.

Iran's top defence official has met Syria's President Bashar al-Assad and the country's defence minister in Damascus, pledging to contribute to the war-torn country's reconstruction.

Tehran has provided steady political, financial and military backing to Assad during the civil war which is in its eighth year.

On Sunday, Iranian Defence Minister Amir Hatami met his Syrian counterpart Ali Abdullah Ayyoub as well as Assad and said it was agreed with Syria that Iran would have "presence, participation and assistance" in reconstruction "and no third party will be influential in this issue".

"Syria is at a very, very important juncture. It is passing through the critical stage and it is entering the very important stage of reconstruction," said Hatami, in comments carried by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.

Since it erupted in 2011, Syria's war has cost it approximately $388bn, according to the United Nations' Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia.

Last month, President Assad said reconstruction was his "top priority" in Syria, where more than 350,000 people have been killed and millions forced to flee their homes.

World powers, who long called for Assad's removal, insist reconstruction aid should only come with political transition, but fellow regime ally Russia is pressing them to provide support.

According to comments carried by the state media, Assad told Hatami that Damascus and Tehran should set "long-term cooperation plans".

Minister Ayoub also championed the two countries' special relationship, saying that "Syrian-Iranian relations are a model for bilateral ties between independent and sovereign nations".

The two countries have had strong ties for years - Iran has dispatched military forces to Syria but insists they are advisors, not fighters.

Iran-backed armed groups, including the powerful Lebanese Hezbollah movement, have also backed Assad's troops.

With help from them and Russian warplanes, Assad has recaptured around two-thirds of the country and is now eyeing the northwest province of Idlib.

"Idlib will return to the nation's bosom, and all Syrian soil will be cleansed of terrorism, either through reconciliation or ground operations," said Ayoub who also slammed the US, which has established military bases in Syria to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group.

"The Americans are looking for a way to stay east of the Euphrates River to lock in their presence in this region," said Ayoub.

The comments came a day after a senior US diplomat, ambassador William Roebuck, visited territory around those bases and said the US was "prepared to stay" in Syria to defeat ISIL, but was also "focused" on ousting Iran.

Israeli minister says Iran-Syria deal crosses ‘red line’, Assad to bear the consquences
BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 A.M.) – The Israeli Intelligence Minister, Yisrael Katz, told the Israeli Public Broadcasting Authority on Wednesday that the recent military deal between the Syrian and Iranian governments crosses Israel’s “red line”.

According to Katz, the new deal is “crossing the red line we have set,” adding that Israel will not tolerate this.
“Israel will not allow Iran to settle in Syria. We will act with all our might against any Iranian position in Syria that threatens the State of Israel,” Katz continued.

The Israeli minister then told the IPBA that Assad “would bear the consequences immediately” for making such a deal with Iran.

The Iranian and Syrian governments recently signed a defense agreement during a meeting between the Iranian Defense Minister, Brigadier General Amir Hatami, and Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad.

How to create a US-backed government coup for fun and profit! - by Lee Camp
Nicaragua just defeated a US-backed violent coup attempt, and no one cares.

Well, let me revise that: Very few care. English teachers may care because they may find it fascinating the phrase “violent coup” is one of the only English phrases often introduced with the prefix “US-backed.”

But I can tell you for certain the mainstream media don’t want you to care. They don’t even want you to know it happened. And they certainly don’t want you to know that it followed a simple formula for US-backed coups in leftist and anti-imperialist nations throughout Latin America, a formula our military intelligence apparatus has implemented in numerous countries tirelessly, like an overused football play.

On the corporate airwaves you won’t hear about US-backed anything. If the US military backed up a truck, CNN wouldn’t mention it, NPR would tell you the truck was dealing with an “organic internal protest movement” and Fox News would blame a black person.

For example, there’s the US-backed genocide going on in Yemen right now. As a recent Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting study made clear, over the 12 months prior to July 3, MSNBC aired a grand total of zero stories about Yemen while it spewed forth 455 stories about the porn star our president pooned. (Which is roughly 445 too many, even if you’re really into presidential erotic fan fiction.)

Back to Latin America. The US has had a long policy of undermining, infiltrating and bringing down any Latin American government that doesn’t line up with our unfettered capitalistic neoliberal policies. If a leader says, “Hey, let’s live a different way in which everyone is taken care of and we help out our brothers and sisters,” then the US will make sure he or she ends up wearing cement shoes at the bottom of a lake somewhere. (And those cement shoes won’t even be crafted by union cement workers because all the unions have been destroyed. So you’ve got freelance underpaid children making the shoes−probably part of the “gig economy” with some sort of cement shoe app that tricks cement layers into working for pennies because they don’t understand the algorithm is screwing them hard!)

Anyway, Nicaragua is the latest US-backed attempted coup. So, this seems like a good time to present: How to Create a US-Backed Government Coup!

You can play along at home−especially if your home is in Nicaragua or Venezuela.

STEP ONE: Create a strong US-backed “fifth column”

Don’t tell me you don’t know what a “fifth column” is. How could you be so naive! (This is the part where I mock you for lacking knowledge that I myself learned only last week.)

As smart person Peter Koenig explains, “A Fifth Column is a group of people who undermine the government of a country in support of the enemy. They can be both covert and open.”

There are various ways to create fifth columns. We here in the US like to create ours with a good, wholesome front: nonprofit organizations. Our two favorites are USAID and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). What is the NED? Well, as Editor of Consortium News Robert Parry put it,

"In 1983, NED essentially took over the CIA’s role of influencing electoral outcomes and destabilizing governments that got in the way of U.S. interests, except that NED carried out those functions in a quasi-overt fashion while the CIA did them covertly. NED also serves as a sort of slush fund for neocons."

(When I picture a neocon slush fund, I picture Dick Cheney, Mitch McConnell and Bill Kristol naked in a small bathtub filled with the vomit of all their victims. Yes, it’s gross. But it’s less gross than what a neocon slush fund really is.)

So we use NED and USAID to destabilize countries. Keep in mind, though it may not sound like much, there are consequences to destabilizing countries. By doing it, we indirectly kill a lot of people, or at least ruin their lives, leaving them poor or destitute. But to create a successful coup, it’s important you don’t care about any of that stuff. Leave that for the nerds with their pencils and their statistics. If babies die because they can’t get the medical treatment they need, not your problem. You’ve got other stuff to do−like wipe bird shit off your $1,200 loafers.
STEP TWO: Undermine the country’s economy

This can be done via sanctions, as we are currently doing in Venezuela and Iran. Simultaneously, use the fifth column and the obedient American media hacks (CNN, Fox News, MSNBC) to convince the people of said country that their economic troubles are the fault of only their president.

“It’s the Venezuelan president’s fault you don’t have toilet paper! He’s hoarding all the toilet paper. He’s sitting up there on a throne made of Angel Soft triple ply! His anus is singing ‘Joy to the World’ right now!”

But, what our corporate media really don’t want you to know is the truth. Peter Koenig, who was also an international observer for the Presidential Economic Advisory Commission (showoff), stated,

"…It is absolutely clear who is behind the food and medicine boycotts (empty supermarket shelves), and the induced internal violence [in Venezuela]. It is a carbon copy of what the CIA under Kissinger’s command did in Chile in 1973 which led to the murder of the legitimate and democratically elected President Allende and to the Pinochet military coup."

So you create economic troubles, which make people hungry and angry, and that leads to…
STEP THREE: Wait for internal protests and/or create them

Basically, there were legitimate protests in Nicaragua because what country doesn’t have protests now and again? But then the US and our front groups threw kerosene on the situation. The NED-funded publication Global Americans actually bragged about the kerosene it threw. In an article titled“Laying the groundwork for insurrection: A closer look at the US role in Nicaragua’s social unrest,” it said, “…the NED has funded 54 projects in Nicaragua between 2014 and 2017.”

So various US-backed groups redirected the protests against the Daniel Ortega government. Some protesting students were even flown to the United States for further instruction from Freedom House, which has deep ties to the CIA. Once here, the students posed for photos with none other than US Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL.

If there’s one thing I trust, it’s people who are proud to meet Marco Rubio. I mean, even Marco Rubio’s kids tell people that Joe Biden is their father.

So as with Syria, after genuine protests began in Nicaragua, the US used the fifth column to exacerbate the tension and channel the protests toward a violent showdown.
STEP FOUR: Get violent while accusing the government of getting violent

We’ve seen this tactic in Nicaragua and Venezuela. There was violence on both sides of the protests, but far more on the US-backed sides, sometimes with help from the CIA or alumni from our military training facilities like The School of the Americas. But because of media propaganda, many believe there is primarily violence on the government side, when in fact it’s the opposite.
STEP FIVE: If steps 1 through 4 don’t work, kidnap or assassinate

The time may come when you’ve exhausted other options and simply must whack a dude. Don’t feel bad. It happens to the best of us.

Or, if you’re feeling generous, you can put said target on a US military plane and fly him to Africa against his will−as happened in 2004 to the president of Haiti, Jean-Bertrand Aristide. He claimed he was kidnapped by our military and taken on one of the most awkward 14-hour flights one can imagine.

There is an endless number of examples. Want some more? How about the 1973 CIA-backed overthrow of socialist President Salvador Allende in Chile? But have no fear, he was replaced by murderous dictator Augusto Pinochet, whom the US liked A LOT better. (We shared the same taste in death squads.)

Ecuadorean President Jaime Roldos Aguilera died in an airplane “accident” in 1981 after going forward with a plan to reorganize Ecuador’s fossil fuel industry, which US interests were very much against. His airplane fell out of the sky after coming down with a bad case of the CIA.

Even NBC has recounted the bizarre CIA plots to assassinate Fidel Castro in Cuba, some of them involving exploding cigars. To be honest, I can’t look down on that because it is the funniest way to kill someone. So as long as it gets a laugh, I approve.

And a few weeks ago, we saw an attempt to kill President Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela with a small explosive drone. While there’s no indication the US military was directly involved, that’s not really how it rolls. The military prefers to fund front groups so it looks like the US had nothing to do with it. And keep in mind there WAS a US-backed coup against Hugo Chavez, Maduro’s predecessor, in 2002. So taking out the Chavez-Maduro government has been a long-term goal of the US deep state.

There you have it−thanks for playing How to Create a US-Backed Government Coup!

Join us next week for How to Create a US-Backed Cholera Outbreak! … starring Saudi Arabia! … And definitely NOT starring MSNBC. It has no idea what you’re talking about.

Tehran Asks Iraq to Receive Rial to Issue Visa for Iranian Pilgrims in Anti-Sanction Move

Tehran Asks Iraq to Receive Rial to Issue Visa for Iranian Pilgrims in Anti-Sanction Move
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi called on the Iraqi foreign ministry to replace dollar with Iran's national currency (rial) to issue visa for the country's pilgrims who are due to visit Iraq in Arbaeen ceremony, one of the currency swap moves Iran is making to counter the US sanctions.

Masjedi's remarks, made in a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jafari in Baghdad on Wednesday, are in line with Iran's policies to confront the US sanctions after Washington's withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal.

During Arbaeen ceremony the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein (AS), the third Shiite Imam, is commemorated.

Jafari, for his part, praised Iran for remaining beside Iraq in hard times, specially in the war on the ISIL terrorist group, and underlined Baghdad's preparedness to cooperate and coordinate efforts with Iran to hold Arabaeen ceremony.

Millions of Muslims in Iraq rally from the city of Najaf to the city of Karbala to mark the Arbaeen.

Over 20 million Muslims from across the world, including They will attend the 100-km rally, while hundreds of thousands more will join them on the way to Karbala and to the holy shrine of Imam Hossein (PBUH).

Observers believe the rally is unique in terms of quality and also the number of its participants. It starts from the holy shrine of Imam Ali (PBUH) - the first Shiite Imam - and ends up in the holy shrine of Imam Hossein (PBUH).

Planned chemical weapon provocation in Idlib aimed to prevent removal of Al-Nusra

Planned chemical weapon provocation in Idlib aimed to prevent removal of Al-Nusra – Lavrov

The planned chemical weapon provocation in the Syrian province of Idlib is aimed at maintaining the presence of terrorists in the area, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

The Russian FM, who met his Saudi counterpart, Adel al-Jubeir in Moscow on Wednesday, compared the terrorist presence in the province with an “abscess” that should be swiftly removed.

“Idlib is now the last remaining hotbed of the terrorists, who try to speculate on the area’s status of de-escalation zone; try using the population as a human shield and try repressing the armed groups that are ready for talks with the government,” he said.

The Minister also noted that the overall goal in Washington with regard to war-ravaged Syria, was not really helping the country, but to push for regime change.

“It’s not the first time the US – no matter the administration – has prioritized the task of changing dissident regimes above the common goals of eradicating terrorism and extremism. It happened in Iraq and Libya. Now they’re trying to do the same in Syria. To phrase it more correctly – they tried to do it in Syria, but failed,” Lavrov said.

The chemical attack issue and “the threats that are put forward against the Syrian government, are used with the sole purpose of preventing the expulsion of the terrorists from the de-escalation zone in Idlib,” Lavrov said.

In this case, the Trump administration is simply following the policies of Barack Obama, under whom “the Americans tried to use all means possible to shelter Jabhat al-Nusra, with hope of using it in the fight against, what they call, the regime,” he added.

Earlier, Moscow warned that a provocation, involving chemical weapons, was being prepared in Idlib by the US, with the aim of blaming the Syrian authorities and justifying further air strikes.

On Tuesday, Russia’s Defense Ministry said that sources on the ground informed them that the chemicals to be used in the fake attack have been already delivered to terrorists in the area with the assistance of the infamous White Helmets group.

Washington cautioned that it would respond to a chemical weapons attack by Syrian authorities with retaliatory strikes, which would be a lot larger in scale than those conducted against the country by the US, the UK and France in April.

Those strikes were carried out based on an unconfirmed reports of a chemical attack, which also came from the White Helmets. The Western-backed group has been caught red-handed working with militants and producing fake evidence to smear the Syrian government and its allies.

Hezbollah asked to remain in Syria after war – report
BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 A.M.) – The Syrian government has formally requested that Hezbollah remain in Syria after the war, Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar reported on Monday.

According to the report, a Hezbollah official told the Lebanese publication that they received an official request to stay in Syria “post-conflict reconciliation.

Hezbollah will reportedly keep their troops along the vast Syrian-Lebanese border region and inside the southern districts of Damascus for unspecified period of time.

The Syrian government has yet to comment on this latest report; however, they do not often confirm or deny these claims from Al-Akhbar.

Hezbollah officially entered the Syrian War in the Spring of 2013; they would play an integral role in the government’s successful offensives in the Homs, Damascus, Aleppo, and Deir Ezzor governorates.
