.@realDonaldTrump's #TradeWar causes #Mexico to seek Russian wheat – reports http://sptnkne.ws/jgFP

Mexico turns to Russian wheat amid escalating trade spat with United States
Producers of Mexican bread, pasta and flour tortillas are looking for cheaper supplies of wheat from Russia in an attempt to reduce reliance on the US due to an ongoing trade conflict with its northern neighbor.

The US market share is currently undergoing a dramatic decline as Mexico, the major purchaser of American grains, is turning to alternative markets amid increasing concerns over surging prices of US produce, Reuters reports, citing Mexican millers, government officials, and international wheat traders.

“It’s important to send signals to Mr Trump,” said Jose Luis Fuente, head of Mexican trade group Canimolt, which represents 80 percent of Mexican millers.

The fears are reportedly connected to potential tariffs the Mexican authorities might impose on US grain crops as part of the growing trade conflict.

The conflict started when US President Donald Trump threatened to scrap the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with Mexico and Canada if the sides couldn’t compromise on the 23-year-old pact.

Last month, Washington introduced a 25-percent tariff on steel imports and a 10-percent tariff on aluminum imports from Mexico, Canada and the EU. Mexico swiftly retaliated with import tariffs on some American goods, including steel, apples and pork.

Earlier this month, media reports emerged that Mexico could target $4 billion in annual imports of US corn and soybeans if Washington opts to escalate the current situation with new tariffs.

Fuente added that Mexico will keep buying wheat from its northern neighbor because of its proximity, but he stressed that the country’s millers “can’t continue to have this absolute dependence.”

In the first half of the current year, US wheat exports to Mexico declined by 38 percent in value to $285 million, according to industry data analyzed by the agency. At the same time, overall US wheat exports, valued at $2.2 billion, plunged 21 percent.

“The Mexico market ought to be just an extension of our domestic market,” said Justin Gilpin, CEO of the Wheat Commission in Kansas, the biggest American wheat-producing state.

Apart from Russia, Mexico plans to increase wheat purchases from Argentina, Brazil, Canada and Ukraine to cut reliance on American agriculture.

BBC journo confronted after deleting tweet doubting 'staged' scenes in Syria
A BBC journalist expressed skepticism about an alleged chemical attack in Syria that the West has largely – and without evidence – blamed on Bashar Assad. He tweeted that he was tired of "staged" scenes before deleting the post.

"Sick and tired of activists and rebels using corpses of dead children to stage emotive scenes for Western consumption. Then they wonder why some serious journos are questioning part of the narrative," BBC Foreign News Producer Riam Dalati wrote on Twitter. He later deleted that tweet, but not before others in the Twittersphere managed to grab a screenshot of it.

It didn't take long for people on Twitter to speculate as to why Dalati would have deleted the tweet, suggesting the BBC forced him to do so.

When a Twitter user wrote that Dalati was under pressure from the BBC to 'toe the line,' presumably by pointing the finger at Syrian President Bashar Assad, the journalist said this wasn't true, and that he deleted the tweet due to a "breach of editorial policy."

"Not so... original tweet correctly deemed in breach of editorial policy thru (sic) use of 'sick/tired'" and by not providing context for a picture of a deceased Syrian girl who appeared to be giving a 'last hug' to another child who appeared to have died.

"Still stand by original opinion that 'Last Hug' was staged and can voice that in a factual tweet if I want to," he wrote.

ISIL on Verge of Full Collapse in Southwestern Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army continued advancing against ISIL in Hawz Yarmouk on Saturday, nearing complete liberation of the region from terrorists.

The army soldiers stormed from their positions in Southern part of Quneitra province to ISIL's strongholds in Hawz Yarmouk in Southwestern Dara'a, imposing full control over the villages of Ein Zekr and Sheikh Hossein.

The army forces captured Saham al-Joiulan in Western Dara'a and continued to attack the small towns of Nafe'ah and al-Shajarah that are ISIL's main bases in Hawz Yarmouk region.

In the meantime, local sources said that the ISIL front in Hawz Yarmouk is on the threshold of full collapse, adding that over 190 terrorists have been killed and tens of others have been injured in the army's operation in the last eight days.

In a relevant development on Friday, the army men, backed up by the artillery units and army aircraft, exchanged heavy fire with ISIL in Hawz Yarmouk, imposing control over the town of Jalin and al-Jomou'a strategic hill overlooking several towns and villages in the region.

The army men further advanced in the depth of ISIL-held regions, seizing control over Tasil and Advan towns in Hawz Yamrmouk.

In the meantime, other units of the army conducted an assault South of Hawz Yarmouk and captured the town of Hayt.

Also, a military source pointed to the intensified operation of the army against ISIL at borders with Israeli-occupied Golan after a Syrian Sukhoi was shot down by Israelis and also terrorist's attacks on government forces in Sweida, underlining that the army men inflicted major casualties on the terrorists.

White Helmets are terrorists, can choose surrender or death - Assad
Members of the so-called White Helmets are practically terrorists and will be given the same choice as others: lay down their weapons and invoke amnesty or be killed, Syrian President Bashar Assad told Russian journalists.

“The fate of White Helmets will be the same as any other terrorist. They have two choices: to lay down their arms and use the amnesty we have offered over the last four or five years, or be killed like the other terrorists,” Assad said.

White Helmets coming ‘home’: West & Israel provide ‘exceptional’ rescue strategy for NATO's ghosts .
History appears to repeat itself as Israel conducts an “exceptional” rescue of extremist militants and their White Helmet “mannequins” from southern Syria – at the urgent request of NATO member states.

The military alliance’s member states just conducted a novel version of Operation Paperclip in Southern Syria but, instead of resettling Nazi war criminals to develop a weapon’s program in the US, they will resettle Al Qaeda militants and their auxiliaries. Indeed, the latter’s role has been to corroborate alleged tales of chemical weapons use by Syria – to justify the intervention of the US coalition, both by proxy and directly, against a sovereign nation.

Post World War II, the US imported Nazi scientists to prevent them falling into the hands of Soviet forces. Decades later America and its allies are extricating their client extremists, who are operating undercover in Syria, from the threat of discovery by approaching Syrian and Russian forces.

White Helmets Pulled Back from Syria to Avoid Intelligence Leak
TEHRAN (FNA)- The western countries and Israel had no option other than taking out the White Helmets from Southern Syria for the fear that they might expose sensitive intel after their capture by government troops, media outlets said Wednesday.

The West and Tel Aviv had two options of either withdrawing the White Helmets from Southern Syria or killing them, the Arabic-language service of Russia Today cited a report by Expert Online.

It pointed to the failure of the White Helmets to create fake stories and a halt in financial aid to them, and said since the White Helmets had a lot of intel with them, Washington could not leave them to be given to Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The report said that killing the White Helmets was considered as one of the cheapest and most confident options which could later be blamed on the Syrian government.

"But the risks were high as few could have survived who would then run to the Syrian government to save their lives and they could have leaked vital intel during the process; hence, the western countries decided to pave the way for their escape in the shortest possible time," it added.

The terrorists' exit from Syria occurred at a time when the Syrian army took control of borders with Jordan; White Helmets had been besieged in a narrow strip in the Golan Heights.

In a relevant development on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in an official commentary on Monday that flight of workers of the White Helmets nongovernmental organization from Syria with foreign assistance shows graphically whose orders they fulfilled and whose money they existed on.

"The information available to us suggests the Westerners evacuated a big group of those pseudo-aid workers to Jordan via the Israeli territory," the commentary noted, adding that "meanwhile, it is known perfectly well that the White Helmets have been involved in the most odious provocations during the conflict in Syria", TASS reported.

"The organization concentrated its operations exclusively in the areas controlled by Islamic radicals, forging overt fakes that would be used as pretexts for charges against the Syrian authorities," the Foreign Ministry added.

The Helmets had a particular fancy for shooting the propagandistic clips, which the Western media and social networks would circulate endlessly, it noted.

"It’s quite emblematic that the White Helmets preferred to flee Syria with foreign assistance, thus unmasking their essence and hypocrisy to the whole world," the commentary said, adding that "as if acting out the principle 'an uneasy conscience betrays itself', these people showed in a most graphic way whose orders they had been fulfilling and whose money they had existed on".

Moscow also called attention to the recent comments by the US Department of State official Spokesperson upon the results of a telephone conversation between Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.

"These comments said in gushing terms, so typical of the Americans, Russia was failing to act properly on its obligations regarding southwestern Syria," the ministry said, adding that "we’d like to say in this connection the situation is entirely opposite in reality. It was Washington that did not do anything over several months in the Southwestern de-escalation zone to separate the so-called moderate opposition units from the terrorist of the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra".

"As a results of successful actions of the Syrian Armed Forces and with our assistance, law and order are returning to Southwestern Syria and conditions are arising for people’s return of peaceful life there," the ministry stressed.

Israel evacuated several hundred White Helmet staff and their families from the Golan Heights region in Southern Syria to Jordan overnight on Saturday. The initial plan reportedly involved the evacuation of 800 people.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu revealed that US President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asked Tel Aviv to evacuate the members of the Western-backed White Helmets group from Syria.

White Helmets evacuation to Israel shows their ‘true nature’: Syria
The Syrian government has denounced the evacuation of hundreds of members of a Western-backed “aid group” to an Israeli military camp, saying what Tel Aviv did further reveal the true nature of the so-called “White Helmets,” which stands accused of working with Takfiri militants and staging false-flag gas attacks in the Arab country.

The Israeli military said on Sunday that its troops had managed to evacuate members of the “organization” and their families at the direct request of the United States and some “additional European countries.”

The statement, however, did not mention the group by name at the time, but German tabloid Bild said some 800 members of the "White Helmets" were expected to be brought to Jordan through Israel to be reportedly resettled later in the UK, Canada, and Germany.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry, citing an unnamed official at the ministry, said on Monday that Damascus had previously warned about the dangerous role the White Helmets were playing in undermining the security and stability in the Arab country and in the region due to their “terrorist nature.”

“Israel has always lied claiming that it doesn’t have a relation to the war waged on Syria, yet it has smuggled hundreds of members of the 'White Helmets' terrorist organization and of the leaders of other terror groups in cooperation with the governments of the US, Britain, Jordan, Germany and Canada, and this has uncovered the support provided by these states to the terrorist outfits in their aggression against the Syrians and in destroying the infrastructure in Syria under false pretexts,” the Syrian ministry official said.
The unnamed source added, “Words are not enough no express the discontent, which the Syrians feel towards these mean conspiracies and the limitless support provided by the Western states, Israel and Jordan to the 'White Helmets' organization and to the gangs of Daesh (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist organizations, which have worked over the past eight years with the aim of deviating Syria from its track and destroying the achievements it has attained.”

Admitting to the operation later on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that the operation was an "important humanitarian step," adding that he ordered it after requests from US President Donald Trump and Canadian Premier Justin Trudeau.

The news about the Israeli involvement came amid Tel Aviv’s ongoing provision of assistance to the militants fighting the Syrian government. Tel Aviv is widely believed to have been providing weapons to anti-Damascus militants as well as medical treatment to Takfiri elements wounded in the Arab country inside the occupied Golan Heights.

Earlier this month, CBS News broadcasting service said in a report that the issue of the White helmets' withdrawal from Syria had been raised with US President Donald Trump in multiple conversations with allied countries on the sidelines of the July 11-12 NATO summit in Brussels.

"The White Helmets" organization was founded in Turkey in 2013 by former British MI5 officer James Le Mesurier. Since its establishment, the group has received at least $55 million from the British Foreign Office, $23 million or more from the US Office of Transition Initiatives and untold millions from Qatar.

However, Syria and its close ally Russia stress that the so-called volunteer group has staged the suspected chemical weapons attack in the town of Douma in Syria's Eastern Ghouta region on April 7. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad also described the White Helmets as “a branch of al-Qaeda and al-Nusra" militant groups and a “PR stunt” by the US, the UK and France.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has already said that the group claims to be a humanitarian NGO, but actually supports terrorists and covers up their crimes.

White Helmets rescue op clearly showed who pay-rolled them – Russian Foreign Ministry
The pullout of the White Helmets from Syria, carried out by Israel on the US' and Canada’s request, reveals “true colors and hypocrisy” of the controversial group, showing who actually controls it, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said.

The rescue operation, which emerged Sunday, “speaks for itself” and clearly shows who exactly the group serves, the ministry said in a statement on Monday, calling its members “pseudo-humanitarians.” Some 422 of them were picked by the Israeli military and transferred to Jordan after the evacuation was requested by the US, Canada and some European countries. It has emerged that a total of 800 people were expected to be pulled out initially.

The White Helmets group has advertised itself as a volunteer force and Syria’s “civil defense.” The group has been praised in the West, even receiving an Oscar for a “documentary” movie, yet it has been repeatedly accused of cooperating closely with jihadist groups and effectively serving as their media branch.

“It’s well known, that the White Helmets had their hand in the most notorious false flag operations during the Syrian conflict. They acted exclusively on territories under the control of Islamic radicals, staged blatant falsifications, which were used then as a pretext to raise accusations against the Syrian authorities,” the ministry stated.

The evacuated White Helmets are now expected to be resettled in a number of Western countries, namely Canada, Germany, France and some others. The US, while welcoming the evacuation of White Helmets in a statement penned by the State Department, didn’t seem to be in a rush to welcome its members on its soil.

“It’s symbolic that the White Helmets preferred to flee Syria with foreign assistance, showing their true colors and hypocrisy to the world,” the ministry said, adding that the “evacuation” of the White Helmets “clearly showed whose orders they were carrying out, and who pay-rolled them.”

Russia commends IDF for not falling for ‘large-scale provocation’ of ISIS in Syria
The Russian military thanked Israel for foiling a daring ISIS plot in Syria. The militants attempted to lure the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) into striking Syrian government troops, but Israel did not fall for it.

Moscow “thanked the IDF leadership” for effectively destroying Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) targets and “preventing a large-scale provocation” staged by the militants, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday. The militants attempted to trick Israel into striking the Syrian Army.

Earlier that day, the IDF had confirmed striking targets in Syria’s southwestern Quneitra province, which borders Israel. The army said two rockets were launched over the Golan Heights from Syrian territory, and later identified the incident as “errant fire from the internal fighting in Syria.” In response, the IDF conducted an airstrike on the launcher which fired the rockets, and shelled the surrounding area with artillery.

This was the second incident on the Israeli-Syrian border this week. On Tuesday, the IDF fired two Patriot missiles at a Syrian Air Force jet it said violated Israel’s airspace.

Imran Khan declares victory in Pakistan’s general election
Cricket player-turned-politician Imran Khan has declared victory in Pakistan's election, seeing off the party of former PM Nawaz Sharif, who was jailed for corruption. Voting was marred by violence and allegations of poll-rigging.

With about half the votes counted from Wednesday’s elections, Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) – Justice Movement – has a solid lead, according to the official preliminary results. The elections were marred by a gruesome suicide bombing. Some 371,000 soldiers have been deployed at polling stations across the country, nearly five times as many as during last general election in 2013.

Khan addressed the nation from his home in Islamabad, vowing to investigate all complaints of rigged polls made by his opponents – the Pakistan Muslim League, a center-right conservative party, sympathetic to the US. Supporters of its de facto leader Sharif, who has bad blood with the military, claimed the army tipped the scales in Khan's favor.

“It is a sheer rigging. The way the people's mandate has blatantly been insulted, it is intolerable,” Shehbaz Sharif, PML-N president and brother of Nawaz, claimed as the counting continued.

Having run on an anti-corruption ticket, Khan pledged to “fix” the governing system of Pakistan and make the country what its founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, actually dreamed it would become. The leader of the Pakistan Movement for Justice also stated that he will be “embarrassed” to live in the lavish PM palace when over half of Pakistanis live below the poverty line. Khan promised to turn the palace into an educational or public institution instead.

"I started this struggle 22 years ago and thankfully today I have been given a chance to fulfill what I dreamt for the country," Khan stated. "We will run Pakistan like it's never been run before."

On top of domestic issues, Khan also pledged to address pressing international concerns, declaring that Pakistan and India should resume talks in a bid to resolve the years-long Kashmir crisis.

He also promised to strengthen relations with China, continuing to work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Aside from economic cooperation, Pakistan has much to learn from Beijing in other fields, Khan insisted, mentioning China’s experience in poverty alleviation and curbing corruption.

Back in April, Khan gave an interview to RT’s Sophie Shevardnadze, criticizing the US approach on the region, and Afghanistan in particular. Islamabad, formerly a close ally of Washington, has endured “heavy punishment” for participation in the US-led war on the Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants in the neighboring country, for a very little benefit, he said.

“There is a problem, unfortunately, that the American policy of using a one-dimensional military solution to problems in Afghanistan has led not only to the longest war, but it has caused immense problems to Pakistan,” Khan told RT at the time.

When a media giant like #MSNBC refuses to cover the horrors of the Trump-supported #Saudi war of starvation and cholera in #Yemen for an entire year it smells of special interests. Saudi money, pro-Israeli pressure -- or both?

Saudi-led coalition launches attack on Yemen’s ‘humanitarian lifeline’ of Hodeidah
The Saudi-led coalition and forces loyal to the former president Hadi have launched an assault on Yemen’s main port city of Hodeidah, one of the remaining humanitarian lifelines in the war-torn country, local news outlets report.

The operation to retake the vital port city from the Houthis was launched on Wednesday morning, after the rebels rejected an ultimatum and refused to surrender the city by the end of Tuesday, a deadline set by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Al Arabiya reports.

Large-scale ground operations, supported by the air and naval forces of the Saudi-led coalition, began to move in on the city from numerous directions, a military source told the publication. The government of exiled president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, partially based in Aden, issued a statement, claiming that the military operation was the last-ditch effort to “restore legitimacy to the entire national territory after exhausting all peaceful and political means to remove the Houthi militia from the port of Hodeidah.”

"Liberation of the port of Hodeidah is a milestone in our struggle," the statement reads. "Liberation of the port is the beginning of the fall of the Houthi militias. It will secure navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and cut off the hands of Iran."

Recapturing Hodeidah and its port is crucial for the Arab coalition. Over the course of the conflict, Riyadh has repeatedly tried to blockade the docks, accusing Iran of using them to smuggle arms to the Houthi rebels.

Just days before the launch of the operation, the United Nations warned that an attack on the densely populated coastal city could cost up to 250,000 lives. Previously, international aid agencies voiced alarm over the “looming disaster,” stressing that a battle will jeopardize the delivery of the scarce humanitarian aid desperately needed by the civilian population.

Even Washington, the biggest arms supplier to Saudi Arabia, also allegedly warned against the assault on the port city. “The United States has been clear and consistent that we will not support actions that destroy key infrastructure or that are likely to exacerbate the dire humanitarian situation that has expanded in this stalemated conflict,” a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council told Reuters last week.

The Saudi-led coalition has been waging a brutal military campaign in Yemen since March 2015, trying to restore former president Hadi to power. Three years of Saudi-led bombardment and a blockade of Yemen has led to the near-collapse of the country. Some 22 million people, or 80 percent of the Yemeni population, are in need of humanitarian aid, while more than half of the country is left without basic medical services.

‘Millions of lives at risk’: Humanitarian groups urge Saudi-led coalition to spare Yemeni civilians
Halting operations at the crucial Hodeidah port would have an enormous impact on people all across Yemen, humanitarian agencies have warned, urging the warring parties to spare innocent lives in their battle for the Red Sea city.

“Hodeidah is a lifeline for millions of Yemenis,” Iolanda Jaquemet, a spokeswoman from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), told RT. “The assault risks exacerbating an already catastrophic situation... Should this aid not be able to flow into this port, it will put at risk millions of lives.”

At dawn on Wednesday, the Saudi-led Arab coalition began the long-anticipated ground, naval, and air campaign against Houthi rebels in Hodeidah, trying to recapture the strategic port. After the first day of fighting, the coalition failed to capture the Red Sea city or to take possession of its airport. Despite the fighting, the port continues to operate, management of the port said, while the UN confirmed an aid delivery on Wednesday.

Shutting down the operations of the “main lifeline for the population in Yemen,” which receives approximately 80 percent of all Yemeni imports, including the bulk of humanitarian goods, will have “huge humanitarian implications,” Joao Martins, head of the Doctors without Borders (MSF) mission in Yemen, told RT.

“The hampering of the function of the seaport will for sure have an impact on the population's living conditions and the capacity for them to cope with the current crisis,” he added.

Potential casualties among the city's population of 400,000 remain the biggest concern of the humanitarian agencies, as well as the UN, which has called on the warring parties to spare civilian lives. Jaquemet reminded the warring parties that they are obliged by international law to “spare civilians” as well as to offer safe passage for those who are trying to flee the war zone.

“The assault on Hodeidah could have a devastating impact for hundreds of thousands of civilians – not just in the city but throughout Yemen,” Amnesty International’s Middle East Research Director Lynn Maalouf said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia halts Red Sea oil exports after Houthi rebels attack two tankers on a major Red Sea shipping route http://aje.io/zhnll

Saudi Arabia halts oil shipments through key waterway after attack on tanker
Saudi Arabia is temporarily halting oil shipments through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, the country’s energy minister has said. It follows a Houthi attack on a Saudi oil tanker off Yemen’s western coast.

The pause in shipments will last until the safety of shipments through the strait, which connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, is ensured, Khalid Al-Falih said in a statement.

The announcement follows an attack by the Yemeni militant force the Houthis on a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea west of Yemen’s coast. According to the Saudi-led coalition intervening in Yemen, the attack caused “minor damage”.

The vessel apparently belongs to the Saudi shipping group Bahri, which reported on Wednesday that one of its VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) tankers had been damaged in the Red Sea. The statement said nobody was injured and the damage posed no threat to the environment.

A similar attack happened in April, off the Yemeni port of Hodeidah.

The Houthis, who control Yemen’s capital Sanaa and large parts in the north of the country, have been occasionally targeting Saudi oil facilities. The Saudi-led coalition launched its military intervention in Yemen three years ago, in an attempt to restore ousted former President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power.

The intervention and blockade of the country has contributed to a massive humanitarian disaster.

Bab-el-Mandeb is a potential choking point for Saudi oil shipments. Any lasting disruption of traffic through it would result in turmoil on the crude market. Brent crude rose 38 cents to $73.82 a barrel on Wednesday.

Terrorists Start New Operations Room as Syrian Army Prepares for Major Operation in Idlib
TEHRAN (FNA)- Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) set up yet another Operations Room to slow down the Syrian Army forces' upcoming operation in Western Idlib and Eastern Lattakia, militant-affiliated sources said Wednesday.

The sources quoted Salahuddin al-Kurdi, one of the commanders of Tahrir al-Sham, as disclosing that Tahrir al-Sham members are preparing for confronting the Syrian army operation in Lattakia.

The sources further said that terrorist groups in Lattakia have embarked on forming a United Operations Room and deployed forces in different regions.

Tahrir's new Operation Room came after the army dispatched a large number of forces and equipment to the Northwestern part of the country to launch a large-scale operation to purge Lattakia, Western Idlib from Jisr al-Shughour to al-Ghaab Plailn in Western Aleppo of Tahrir al-Sham and other terrorist groups.

Field sources said on Tuesday that the army dispatched a large number of fresh forces and a large volume of military equipment to Northeastern Lattakia and to Jisr al-Shughour region in Southwestern Idlib.

The sources further said that the army was possibly mulling to launch a fresh large-scale operation in Idlib after completing Southern Syria operation, adding that the army would probably kick off its operation from several flanks to liberate al-Ghaab Plain and Jisr al-Shughour to restore sustainable security to Northeastern Lattakia.

The army men's control over Northern Lattakia, including Jabal al-Akrad and Jabal al-Turkmen would also restore security to borders with Turkey, the sources opined.

They went on to say that a large number of the army's elite forces and advanced weapons would be forwarded to Idlib after completing Dara'a operation, adding that Idlib operation would be a hard battle for the government forces due to the presence of a large number of foreign terrorists in Northwestern Syria.

The terrorist groups have recently kicked off several attacks on the army positions in Northern Lattakia.

ISIL Attacks against Sweida Launched from Al-Tanf Region
TEHRAN (FNA)- The ISIL terrorists' massive attacks against different towns and villages in Sweida province were launched from al-Tanf region in Homs province which hosts the US-backed militants, media sources said on Wednesday.

The Arabic-language al-Mayadeen news channel reported that the ISIL terrorists launched heavy attacks against the towns of Douma, Tarba, Shabaki, al-Sowaimareh and Rami in Northern and Northeastern Sweida from al-Tanf region after suicide attacks.

The Syrian army and popular forces repelled the terrorists' offensives preceded by suicide attacks, killing tens of militants.

Earlier reports today said that the Syrian army soldiers and popular forces engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in the Southern province of Sweida and managed to repel their heavy attack after inflicting tens of casualties on the terrorists.

The army men, supported by popular force, exchanged heavy fire with ISIL that attacked the villages of al-Matouneh, Douma and Tima in Northeastern Sweida, fending off the terrorists' offensive.

In the meantime, residents of the village of Rami clashed with ISIL terrorists and did now allow them to enter their region.

Also, the army forces along with popular fighters fought the terrorists in Tal Basir region in Eastern Sweida and captured the region.

Meanwhile, people in the village of Shabaki and the army men laid siege on the terrorists.

Local sources reported that more than 100 civilians were killed and tens of others were wounded in ISIL's suicide attacks in a local market and in Maslakh district in Sweida city and in several villages in the city outskirt.

The sources further said that two of the suicide attackers were arrested before carrying out their attacks.

Field sources reported last month that the army sent a large convoy of military equipment to the Eastern desert of Sweida.

They added that the convoy which included several tanks, missile-launchers and vehicles equipped with heavy weapons was sent to Tal Sa'ad, the frontline of battle against the ISIL, through the village of al-Janineh in Northeastern Sweida.

Meantime, the Syrian army units engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL terrorists in Badiyeh region of Sweida province, including al-Harmieh region.

Also, the army's air force and artillery units pounded the ISIL positions in al-Kara'a, al-Habirieh, Kharbat al-Ambashi and al-Tamthouneh regions, inflicting tolls and damage on them.
