Russia: Moscow Does Not Rule out Iran’s Pullout from Nuclear Deal
TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said at a session of the Valdai international discussion club on Tuesday that Moscow does not rule out a scenario of Iran’s pullout from the nuclear deal.

"I believe that the scenario of Iran’s withdrawal from the agreement can’t be fully ruled out, if Iran does not agree with the other participants on a basis suitable for it," Ryabkov stated, TASS reported.

Moscow will fulfill its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action for Iran’s nuclear program to the same extent as other participants, he added.

"We have already said and continue to say that we are ready to fully comply with the JCPOA as long as other participants do the same, and to the same extent," the diplomat stressed.

"I am not prepared to evaluate the position of our Iranian counterparts concerning these developments," Ryabkov said when asked about Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA, adding that "their high-ranking officials have made many statements recently, which are rather clear. We focus on these statements while assessing Iran’s approach to this issue".

Russia does not see itself as a mediator between the United States and Iran in the nuclear deal, he went on.

"We do not see ourselves as a mediator between Iran and the US," he said, adding that "we consider ourselves as one of the participants in the accord and we are going to fulfil it and are in close contact and dialogue with all the other participants".

Russian Diplomat: Military Tensions on Rise after US Exit from Iran Deal
TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said the danger that military tensions in the Middle East will mount after the US decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal is growing.

"We don’t want the US pullout from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action to become a prelude for a further spike in military tensions in the Middle East, although the danger of this is evident," Ryabkov stated, TASS reported.

"This danger after the US decision and what happened then is growing, according to our assessments," he noted, adding that major reasons for the US withdrawal from the JCPOA on the Iranian nuclear program are not linked to the agreement itself, but to Washington’s approach to Tehran’s policy in the Middle East.

"We believe that this occurred mainly due to the reasons, which are not tied to the JCPOA, and frankly speaking, the US representatives are not hiding this," Ryabkov said, adding that "I would like to point out that there are a lot of opportunities for resolving regional issues involving Iran".

"If the United States is interested in changes in [Iran’s] behavior, it should step up the diplomatic process," the senior Russian diplomat stressed.

Moscow considers it possible to preserve the Iran nuclear deal with sufficient political will of its participants and despite the US’ withdrawal.

"We need to determine parameters for work within the JCPOA without the US," he noted, adding that "we believe that it is possible both in theory and in practice. Much depends on the politicians’ will, chiefly in the European countries".

Maintaining the Iran nuclear deal will depend on the European’s ability to protect companies cooperating with Iran from US sanctions, he said.

According to the senior diplomat, maintaining the deal will depend on whether "the Europeans are ready to provide European economic entities with such a level of protection that would allow them to continue cooperating with Iran following the resumption of extraterritorial US sanctions".

Ryabkov pointed out that it would be possible to ensure the protection of companies cooperating with Iran.

"I think it is quite possible," he said in response to a question on the matter, adding that "It is most important that certain elements of Iran’s policy in the region, and also its missile program arouse resentment of the United States and its allies".

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the United States will not revise its decision to pull out of the Iranian nuclear deal, he said.

"The Foreign Ministry believes the US will not change its mind. President Donald Trump will translate into life what he said on May 8," Ryabkov added.

Moscow will comply with its liabilities within framework of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding the Iranian nuclear program to reconfigure the Fordow enrichment facility.

"Russia will comply with its obligations under the JCPOA to the full. The same concerns the reconfiguration of the Fordow enrichment facility - to the extent the other partakers will adhere to the agreement," he stressed.

Iran Warns to Restart Production of HEU (高濃縮ウラン) If EU Fails to Ensure N. Deal Merits
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht warned the European states that if they fail to ensure Tehran's continued merits under the nuclear deal after the US pullout, his country will start enriching uranium to 20% or even higher purity levels in operations hidden to the international inspections that have increased under the nuclear deal.

"If our interests are not materialized, we will withdraw from the nuclear deal and will enrich (uranium) to 20% degree or any level that we want out of their sight," Nobakht told reporters in Tehran on Tuesday, although he didn't explain if by his last words he meant covert enrichment hidden to IAEA monitoring or the extra international inspections that have been imposed on Iran under the nuclear deal.

He referred to the US violation and withdrawal from the nuclear deal, and reminded, "The Leader (Ayatollah Khamenei) always reminded us that the US is not trustworthy."

US President Donald Trump announced last Tuesday that the US would no longer remain part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and promised to re-impose the highest level of economic sanctions against Iran in response to Tehran's development of its nuclear program.

After Trump's declaration, the Iranian government issued a statement, calling the US withdrawal as "unlawful". The statement underlined Iran's prerequisites for continuing the deal with the five world powers after the US pullout of the agreement.

"Iran, as a country that has remained committed to its legal obligations, will pursue the US Government’s decision to withdraw from the JCPOA as provided by the mechanisms and provisions of the accord, and if the US withdrawal is not fully compensated and the full interests of the Iranian people are not met and guaranteed – as stated in the accord and as outlined by Iran’s Leader on 9 May – it will exercise its legal right to take whatever reciprocal measures it deems expedient. Other parties to the JCPOA, and especially its three European signatories, must take necessary action to safeguard the accord and to implement their commitments – which they proved incapable of fully performing even while the US was nominally a party to the deal, due to the obstructions by the Trump Administration – and to proceed from giving pledges to taking practical action without any preconditions," it said.(続く)

Minister: Iran's Oil Industry Can Thwart Sanctions
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh underlined that Tehran is strong enough to withstand the sanctions which the US plans to re-impose on the country.

"I believe America’s withdrawal from the JCPOA would lead to no significant development with regards to Iran's exports of oil and condensate,” Zangeneh said on Thursday evening.

He reiterated that Iran’s foreign currency revenues would be maintained as envisaged in the national budget bill.

"Iran's oil industry is in a far better shape than before and can resist the sanctions that Washington plans to renew," Zangeneh said.

He reiterated that threatening Iran with sanctions against its oil industry was an issue of the past, and said, "The country had already been able to safeguard itself against such threats over the past few years."

Zangeneh's remarks came after an announcement by US President Donald Trump that he would take America out of a 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran and move towards re-imposing what he described a series of strong sanctions against the country. The sanctions would include a ban over purchasing oil from Iran as well as restrictions over investments in the country’s energy sector.

2 UNRWA Calls for Investigation into Israeli Crimes in Gaza
TEHRAN (FNA)- United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) on Tuesday called for an international investigation into the Israeli crimes committed against peaceful protesters in Gaza Monday.
The UNRWA said in a statement that it was dismayed by the killing and wounding of dozens of civilians and children in Gaza, adding that Monday's violence and loss of life will add yet another layer of trauma onto an already untenable situation, according to Palinfo.
The UN Agency unreservedly condemned the excessive use of force against demonstrators who have the right to peaceful protest and expression.

3 Several International Organizations Call for Action to Stop 'Mass Murder' of Palestinians in Gaza
TEHRAN (FNA)- A joint statement by 27 international organizations called on Tuesday for urgent international action to stop what they said was Israeli “mass murder” of Palestinians in Gaza.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med) said at a press conference in Gaza that 27 different international organizations have signed a joint statement calling for a stop to the Israeli killing of Palestinian civilians.
The organizations noted that for the most part, “protests have been peaceful at the Gaza fence, while targeted protesters did not pose a threat to soldiers’ lives that could justify their killing or the use of excessive force against them”, accusing Israel of having “a deliberate intention to further complicate injuries of protesters, causing serious injuries that may lead to permanent disabilities”.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian government in a statement on Tuesday strongly deplored massacre of the Palestinian people during protest rallies against the US relocation of its embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds, stressing its support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran's government strongly condemns the recent crimes by the Zionists committed within the framework of a common and provocative scenario with the US administration as the biggest violator of humanitarian and international treaties and laws," the statement said.
"Similar to the past, the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not spare any efforts to support the legitimate and usurped rights of Palestine and its oppressed people in addition to regional and international consultations in this regard," it added.
The Iranian government described the Zionists' crimes as a a historical test for all Muslim officials who can play an influential role.
The Palestinian officials reported on Monday that the death toll of the Palestinians martyred by Israeli fire in Gaza border clashes has risen to nearly 60, while over 2,700 people, including children, women and journalists, have been injured by Tel Aviv regime's forces who are positioned along the fence.

Palestinian FM: US Acts as Partner of Israel in Slaughter of People in Gaza
TEHRAN (FNA)- Foreign Minister Riyad Malki condemned on Tuesday Washington blocking of a statement by the United Nations Security Council on the situation in Gaza, stressing that this move will not deter the Palestinians from pursuing further action at the Security Council.
The Security Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Tuesday afternoon Palestine time to discuss Israel’s carnage in Gaza on Monday that left 59 Palestinians dead and more than 2,700 injured, as well as the legal implications of the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem, he told Voice of Palestine radio.
“By blocking a Security Council statement that was supposed to condemn Israel and calls for forming an independent investigation committee, the United States has declared itself as protector of Israel as it proceeds with its crimes, which therefore makes it complicit in the Israeli crimes against our people in Gaza,” Malki said.
He stated that Palestine is also going to ask the United Nations Human Rights Council to convene an emergency session to discuss the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people and to establish an investigation committee.
Malki stressed that the file on Israeli settlements is ready to be officially submitted to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court as work on the remaining files on the prisoners and the war crimes in Gaza continue.
The Foreign Minister added that he was satisfied with the international reaction condemning the Israeli crimes in Gaza and the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem, saying these reactions are proof that Washinton is now isolated as a result of this move that violates international law and Security Council resolutions.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The UN human rights chief Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein on Monday condemned reckless killing of peaceful Palestinian protesters by Israeli forces, as at least 59 demonstrators were shot dead and over 2,700 wounded by snipers who were positioned along the fence.
“Shocking killing of dozens, injury of hundreds by Israeli live fire in Gaza must stop now. The right to life must be respected,” he wrote in a message carried on the UN human rights Twitter account.
Al Hussein also called for punishment of those behind killing of Palestinians saying that “those responsible for outrageous human rights violations must be held to account”.
Later on Monday, the Palestinian ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour said there were children under the age of 16 among Palestinians killed during violent clashes that took place on the border fence separating Israel from the Gaza Strip.
"We condemn in the strongest terms these atrocities by the Israeli occupying forces, using this massive fire power against civilians who have the right to demonstrate peacefully -- and they have been demonstrating peacefully," Mansour added.
Meantime, the Palestinian government accused Israel of committing a "terrible massacre" of Palestinians in protests in Gaza Strip.
Palestinian Government Spokesman Yusuf al-Mahmoud demanded in a statement "an immediate international intervention to stop the terrible massacre in Gaza committed by the forces of the Israeli occupation against our heroic people".

‘すさまじい虐殺’: イスラエル43人殺害, 負傷者 2,200人

‘Terrible massacre’: Israel kills 43, injures 2,200 Gaza protesters as US embassy opens in Jerusalem
Forty-three Palestinian protesters have been killed by Israeli fire during demonstrations ahead of the US embassy inauguration in Jerusalem, the Palestinian health ministry said Monday.

More than 2,200 protesters have been injured in Gaza so far on what has been the most violent day of the six week long Great March of Return. Those wounded on Monday include 74 children and 23 women, according to the ministry.

The Palestinian government denounced Monday’s violence as a “terrible massacre” perpetrated “by the forces of the Israeli occupation”, and called for an immediate international intervention to prevent further deaths.

There are around 35,000 protesters gathered at the border fence and thousands more within half a mile of the vicinity, according to Israeli Defence Forces.

Clashes have also reportedly broken out between protesters and the Israeli Defense Forces in Bethlehem.

The first of Monday's deaths was 21-year-old Anas Hamdan Qudeih, killed east of Khan Yunis, a spokesperson for the ministry said. A 29-year-old man, Mosaab Yousef Ibrahim Abu Laila, was later killed east of Jabalya. Some of the dead have yet to be identified. At least one child is among the fatalities.

Amnesty International has called the Israeli violence in Gaza “an abhorrent violation of international law & human rights.” Six children are among Monday’s fatalities, according to the human rights organization.

Around half of all injuries were caused by live bullets while hundreds more were targeted with teargas, according to the ministry. The Palestinian Health Ministry claims that Israeli forces are directly targeting emergency services and journalists and are calling on citizens to urgently donate blood to help save the lives of those wounded.

Six journalists have reportedly been injured while covering Monday’s demonstrations, according to the Journalist Support Committee.

Meanwhile, the IDF said Israeli Air Force planes targeted Hamas posts near Jabalya after its soldiers came under fire in the area.

The latest deaths bring the number killed since the Great March of Return protests began six weeks ago to 88.

Dr. Mkhaimer Abuseda, professor of political sciences at Alazhar University in Gaza, told RT that the relocation of the US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem is “a very sad day for the Palestinians, reminding them of their first Nakba some 70 years ago.”

“It seems to me that the Palestinians have decided that the US is no longer an honest broker in the MidEast peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis,” he said, adding that it will likely lead to further Palestinian rage and resistance.

Scuffles have reportedly broken out outside the new US embassy in Jerusalem as the inauguration ceremony took place inside.

Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag has condemned Monday’s violence, claiming the US, as well as Israel, is responsible for the “massacre” because of their “unjust decision” to move the embassy.

Tuesday marks the commemoration of Nakba Day, a term which Palestinians use to describe their forced mass exodus from their homes during the establishment of the State of Israel. It is celebrated among Israelis as Independence Day. Thousands of people have gathered near the border to take part in Monday's protests.

Huge demonstrations are expected to mark the May 15 event, which brings to a close the six-week Great March of Returndemonstrations.

The IDF dropped leaflets warning people in Gaza to stay away from the security fence ahead of Monday’s protests. Demonstrators in North Gaza brought down an IDF drone that was allegedly dropping fire bombs on tents, according to the Great Return March movement.

‘Terrorist’ Soros Petition Reaches 100K Signatures, Compels White House Reply

TEHRAN (FNA)- A petition calling on US President Donald Trump to declare Jewish billionaire George Soros a terrorist has garnered more than 100,000 signatures, enough to require a response from the White House.

More than 129,000 people had signed the online petition as of Monday, more than two weeks after a user posted it on the White House website’s We the People section, presstv reported.

The petition's accuses the billionaire of financing multiple organizations with the sole purpose of weakening the Trump administration, an allegation that has been making the rounds over the past years.

“Soros has created and funded dozens and probably hundreds of discrete organizations whose sole purpose is to apply Alinsky model terrorist tactics to facilitate the collapse of the systems and Constitutional government of the United State, and has developed unhealthy and undue influence over the entire Democrat Party and a large portion of the US Federal government,” the petition says.

Soros has been accused of facilitating "color revolutions" through organizations such as MoveOn, which encourages people to hold anti-establishment protests.

Republican leaning media outlets like Fox News allege that MoveOn is much larger than what it looks and that it “owns” the Democratic Party. The network has openly suggested that Soros owns the organization.

During the 2004 presidential election, Soros gave nearly $1.5 million to the MoveOn.org Voter Fund. Following Trump’s election victory, the organization invited Americans to hold “peaceful” protests across the US.

Back then, MoveOn boasted on its website that it had created “over 200” gatherings within two hours of issuing the call.

Soros was a supporter of Trump’s Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, during the 2016 US presidential election, pouring millions of dollars into her campaign.

According to leaked emails released by the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks, Clinton’s top aide John Podesta had instructed Soros in 2008 on how to stir American voters through organizations similar to MoveOn.

Soros is the founder and head of the Soros Fund Management hedge fund and one of the world’s wealthiest people. Forbes has put his fortune at around $25 billion.

George Soros’ Open Society foundation ends operations in Hungary
George Soros’ Open Society Foundations is ending its operations in Hungary, accusing Budapest of repressing civil society. PM Viktor Orban has repeatedly slammed the tycoon for meddling in the nation’s internal affairs.

“Faced with an increasingly repressive political and legal environment in Hungary, the Open Society Foundations are moving their Budapest-based international operations and staff to the German capital, Berlin,” the group confirmed on Tuesday.

Patrick Gaspard, the president of the Open Society Foundations, lashed out at Budapest, saying it has “denigrated and misrepresented our work,” while repressing civil society “for the sake of political gain.”

The group based its decision on the fact that Budapest "prepares to impose further restrictions on nongovernmental organizations through what it has branded its "Stop Soros” package of legislation.”

Prime Minister Viktor Orban has repeatedly spoken out against the detrimental agendas of Soros’ foundation and other NGOs, accusing the billionaire of meddling in Hungary’s internal political affairs by funding opposition groups.

Speaking on the recent election and the victory of his Fidesz party, Orban said, “I know they won’t accept the result of the election, they will organize all sorts of things, they have unlimited financial resources.”

When news of the Open Society Foundations’ possible departure from Hungary broke in April, Orban said: “You might understand if I don’t cry my eyes out.”

In February, Fidesz submitted a bill to parliament called the ‘Stop Soros Act’ – in reference to the Hungarian-American tycoon – which would curb immigration and would also affect foreign-funded NGOs. The bill says that all NGOs which “support illegal immigration” need to be registered, while any NGO which gets money from abroad must pay a 25-percent tax.

Also, foreign citizens and Hungarian nationals who support illegal immigration could be subject to a restraining order which would keep them away from the border. “If Soros is found to have engaged in such activity, meaning he organizes illegal immigration, then the rules will apply to him,” government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs said in February.

The 87-year-old worked as a trader and analyst before establishing Soros Fund Management in 1969. He became one of the world’s foremost investors, generating enormous wealth for himself. The Hungarian-American made a fortune, but also earned notoriety for shorting Britain’s pound sterling, which forced the currency’s collapse in the 1990s.
The Open Society Foundations project was started in 1979, with the first non-US foundation opening in Hungary in 1984. The group currently has annual expenditures of over $940 million, operates in over 100 countries across the globe, with 26 national and regional foundations and offices.

The billionaire was once likened to Satan for his calls to bring migrants into Europe, which was perceived by some Hungarian MPs as an attempt to destroy the independence and values of nation-states. Hungarian lawmaker Andras Aradszki of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (KDNP) said it is a Christian duty to fight what he called “Satan’s Soros plan.”

The billionaire also faced accusations of meddling in British politics after news emerged that he donated almost half a million pounds to a campaign seeking to reverse Brexit.

Orban, a harsh critic of illegal immigration and Brussels’ mandatory migrant quotas, once stated that the recent wave of refugees entering Europe is an invasion. In December 2017, Hungary, along with Poland and the Czech Republic, said they reserve the “right” to reject EU-imposed refugee quotas in spite of pressure from the European Commission. The three countries argued at the time that the refugees could pose a direct threat to public security.

#PutinAtWar: Iraq Reconsiders Its Military Equipment Suppliers
A video released by the Iraqi Ministry of Defense confirms their purchase of Russian T-90S tanks
For more than 10 years, the United States provided Iraq with top-notch equipment, logistical support and military instructors to train Iraqi military. The Iraqi Security Forces took a hard beating in the battle against ISIS since 2014. A significant amount of the military equipment provided by the United States was heavily damaged, destroyed, or captured during these fights. Some of the lost U.S. equipment ended up in the hands of ISIS, the Iran-supported militias, putting at risk the security of U.S. military technology.

As Iraqi military failed to retrieve the lost equipment, U.S. government stopped logistical support until the equipment is retrieved. In order to solve the shortage of parts, Iraqi military decided to look for new suppliers without as many strings as the United States.

@DFRLab recently reported evidence that the Iraqi military is buying equipment like tanks from Russia. This time the evidence was provided by the Iraqi military itself.

"We are committed to the campaign against terrorism, consider Afghanistan's security as our own security and will do whatever we can with all our power in the fight against terrorism," General Hatami said in a joint press conference with his Afghan counterpart General Tariq Shah Bahrami in Tehran on Monday.

He added that Iran is fully aware of the situation and security threats against Afghanistan, regretting the terrorist acts in the country.

General Bahrami, for his part, appreciated Iran for its assistance to Afghanistan in the past four decades, and said, "At present, terrorism and drug trafficking are threatening Afghanistan and the region, and given the close views we share with Iran, we hope that the country will help and support us in fighting terrorism and stopping drug trafficking."

He also called for Iran's all-out support for the peace process in Afghanistan.

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri underlined that Tehran and Kabul were resolved to boost their cooperation in the ongoing campaign against the terrorist groups.

"The shared backgrounds between the two countries of Iran and Afghanistan, including religion and language, have brought them together in such way that no obstacle can undermine their close relations, specially in combatting the terrorist groups," General Baqeri said during his meeting with General Bahrami in Tehran.

The top Iranian commander, meantime, said that his country has spared no effort to help restore security and stability in Afghanistan.

"Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and after Afghanistan was occupied, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stood by the nation of Afghanistan and the Mujahideen to help them fight against the occupiers,” General Baqeri said.

He also expressed the hope that the Afghan military delegation’s visit would result in more cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces.

US Regime Change Targets Thailand

US Regime Change Targets Thailand
While US-led regime change in Syria continues to make headlines, it is important for the public to be aware and stay ahead of other US-led campaigns to target, destabilise and overthrow the political orders of other nations around the globe.

Observers of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine have warned about potential violence as the US continues arming its proxies and their dangerous ultra-right militant groups in Kiev. Analysts have also been covering US-sponsored political destabilisation being fomented in Armenia.

US funding and support alongside its Canadian and European allies in Southeast Asia is also on the rise. Protests planned throughout May in Thailand’s capital Bangkok are openly aimed at regime change.

US regime change operations can be broken down into several categories; Western media operations, US-funded local media operations, US-backed political parties, US-backed street fronts, US-funded academia and US-funded “human rights” advocates. Identifying them before Thailand’s political crisis grabs international headlines provides analysts and commentators with a guide to facts that will almost certainly be omitted from mainstream reporting.

Western Media Operations in Thailand

The centre of Western media operations in Thailand is best represented by the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT). It serves as the physical headquarters of many of the West’s most prominent media organisations including:

British state media front, the BBC;
Reuters;
NBC;
Qatar state media outlet Al Jazeera;
the Financial Times;
NBC;
ABC and;
many others.

Reuters and the BBC in particular pursue a transparently bias agenda in support of political destabilisation and regime change in Thailand. Their narratives are unquestioningly repeated throughout many other US and European media platforms, big and small.

Their role in covering up the abuses of the previous and now ousted Thai regime of Thaksin Shinawatra and his sister Yingluck Shinawatra while attacking and undermining the institutions that finally began dismantling their political machinery has played a central role in perpetuating Thailand’s ongoing political crisis.

In particular, the BBC’s Jonathan Head and Reuters’ Panu Wongcha-um openly and regularly consort with and promote opposition figures while denying critics and opposing views from being featured within articles and reports appearing on their respective networks. Many other members of supposedly reputable Western media organisations, while less obvious and less prolific, follow a similar and predictable pattern.
In addition to serving as a central hub for these organisations’ offices, the FCCT includes a swank downtown club and bar where events are hosted primarily to promote US and European interests and impose supposed Western values upon the Southeast Asian region, often done under the guise of promoting “human rights” and “democracy.”

The club regularly conducts training and indoctrination activities, many of which are funded by Western governments and Western corporate foundations like convicted financial criminal George Soros’ Open Society.

Despite the FCCT categorically denying accusations that it has received extensive funding from Open Society, evidence has emerged that years of training programmes helped stand up cadres of pro-Western propagandists to help dominate public perception and narratives both in the region and around the world.

At least one alumni of this Soros-FCCT training programme now holds a senior position in Myanmar’s new government.

The FCCT also regularly uses its prominence and well-funded domination of public discourse to promote US and European-funded opposition groups ranging from foreign-funded fronts posing as “nongovernmental organisations” (NGOs) to political parties and opposition groups working with foreign money and support to overthrow the current Thai political order.

US-funded Local Media Operations and “NGOs”

The US State Department through organisations like the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and its many subsidiaries and partners (including Open Society) fund myriad fronts posing as “local” and “independent” media organisations and “rights” advocates in Thailand.

These includes:

Prachatai;
Isaan Record;
Thai Netizens Network;
Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR);
Human Rights Lawyers Association;
ENLAWTHAI;
Cafe Democracy;
Book (re)Public;
Media Inside Out;
Makhampom Foundation;
Fortify Rights;
Human Rights Thailand;
Amnesty International Thailand;
Thai Poor Act and;
Cross Cultural Foundation

These organisations have in recent months coordinated together to organise and promote anti-government protests. And as their activities continue to increasingly shift into open sedition, NED’s website has been redesigned to further conceal US government funding to these fronts.

Thai Lawyers for Human Rights, funded by the US NED and whose co-founder Sirikan “June” Charoensiri was recently awarded the US State Department’s “Women of Courage Award” presented by US First Lady Melania Trump, not only promotes and defends members of anti-government protests, its own members help organise and lead them.

TLHR’s Anon Nampa is one of the core members of recent anti-government protests demanding regime change in Thailand, begging the question of whether or not US funding is also being channelled directly into the protests themselves.

US-backed Political Parties and Street Fronts

US-backed political parties in Thailand include ousted ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s Pheu Thai Party (PTP). Despite being convicted of criminal charges and having fled Thailand to avoid a 2-year jail sentence rendering him a fugitive, Shinawatra still openly serves as PTP’s uncontested leader. In 2011, he openly campaigned in elections with his image and name liberally used on posters including the now infamous, “Thaksin Thinks, Pheu Thai Does” slogan.

Shinawatra’s faltering popularity and mounting legal troubles has forced him to establish new parties to serve as proxies while maintaining plausible deniability. This includes the “Future Forward” party founded by Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, the heir of a multi-million dollar Thai auto-parts business.While it would be unthinkable for a fugitive to remote-control a political party from abroad as a fugitive in the US or Europe, let alone remote-controlling a government led by his political party, the Western media and US-funded fronts posing as NGOs have repeatedly insisted that attempts by Thailand to bar Shinawatra and his PTP from upcoming elections in Thailand are “undemocratic.”

He is the relative of one of Shinawatra’s primary political supporters and chose one of Shinawatra’s own lobbyists, Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, to co-found the party with him.

Also included among the list of Future Forward’s “co-founders” are so-called “activists” drawn from US government-funded fronts like above mentioned Prachatai.

These political parties maintain a single joint-street front. Shinawatra’s PTP founded the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) or “red shirts,” a militant faction that has previously participated in armed insurrection, terrorism, mass murder, nationwide arson and protracted and bloody street protests as well as counter-protests amid Shinawatra’s now 12 year struggle to return himself to power.

Recent protests depicted by FCCT member organisations and local US-funded media fronts as “student activists” are led by US-funded and supported protest leaders including:The UDD has been recently re-branded in an effort to disassociate the front from its violent past. The Western media has played a vital role in rehabilitating the group’s image by omitting details of its membership and leadership.

Anon Nampa,
Rangsima Rome,
Sirawich “Ja New” Seritiwat,
Ekkachai Hongkangwan;
Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal and;
Nuttha Mahattana.

The Western media intentionally omits mentioning the obvious fact that the actual attendees are still clearly UDD members, many literally wearing their signature red shirts and carrying Shinawatra paraphernalia to protest venues.

The fact that recent protests also include Shinawatra’s UDD organiser Sombat Boonngam-anong among its core leadership exposes the fact that this supposedly “student-led” and “progressive, pro-democracy” protest is in reality merely a poorly disguised UDD rally in support of regime change and Shinawatra’s return to power.The Western media also fails to explain how “student activists” can regularly afford thousands of dollars of bail on an almost weekly basis, or pay for the stages, audio systems, matching t-shirts, balloons, masks and other props used in an otherwise obviously well-funded and professionally organised campaign.

Answering obvious questions about who is funding recent protests brings up obvious answers the Western media is clearly intent on burying.

Bringing all Three Together, Plus Violence

As was done in early colour revolutions in Eastern Europe after the fall of the Soviet Union or more recently during the Arab Spring in 2011, the Western media intentionally misinforms or omits information regarding the background and history of protest leaders and their funding and affiliations to distract away from the fundamental illegitimacy of their actions and the violence they all ultimately rely on.

Violence is an essential ingredient to transform unpopular, foreign-funded destabilisation into a catalyst for increased US and European pressure toward US and European-sponsored regime change.

In 2010, Shinawatra’s UDD bussed in several thousand protesters from upcountry to serve as cover for nearly 300 armed militants used to trigger weeks of violence claiming nearly 100 lives and leaving sections of the city in ruins after widespread arson.

The Western media who at the time across their social media accounts admitted to witnessing the violence, being targeted by Shinawatra’s heavily armed militants and watching Thai troops confront and attempt to contain them, would later expunged all mention of the violent nature of Thailand’s opposition from their actual reports, presenting the 2010 violence instead (and to this day) as a “military crackdown.”

Even at the time, the Western media and Western-funded “human rights” advocates cited violence they themselves knew was carried out by the opposition as a pretext for the Thai government to step down.

Similar reports helped perpetuate and expand violence in nations like Libya and Syria where government troops faced heavily armed extremists depicted by the Western media as “unarmed” or “mostly unarmed” civilian protesters.

May 2018 and Onward

In the first week of May 2018, US-backed opposition in Thailand declared their intentions to step up protests, demanding regime change and insisting that their activities will continue until their demands are met. Considering a lack of genuine public support it can be assumed, just as in 2010, that violence will ultimately erupt and the Western media will attempt once again to cover it up, spin it or even justify it.

While Thailand exists well below the geopolitical radar in relation to stories from Syria, Iraq, Iran and Yemen currently dominating headlines, being aware of the players, their backgrounds, affiliations and history, is an essential inoculation from the lies the Western media has been and will continue spreading as Thailand’s political crisis once again spikes.

If and when protests make it into international headlines, let the above information serve as a guide to navigating around predictable and transparent Western disinformation.

As to why the US seeks to destabilise Thailand and install a client regime, it relates directly to US efforts to encircle China either with US-friendly regimes or instability hindering China’s economic rise.

Thailand’s current government has brought Sino-Thai relations to an unprecedented high, including massive joint infrastructure projects, weapon deals and closer economic and military cooperation decisively at Washington’s expense.
