Report: Saudi Arabia Uses US Mercenaries to Torture Arrested Princes, Businessmen
TEHRAN (FNA)- A report revealed Saudi Arabia has been using US mercenaries to torture Saudi princes and billionaires who have recently been arrested in the biggest purge of the country’s elite in the kingdom’s modern history.

The arrested Saudi princes and billionaire businessmen are being strung up by their feet and beaten by American private security contractors, a source in the kingdom said, Daily Mail reproted.

“DailyMail.com can disclose that the arrests have been followed by ‘interrogations’ which a source said were being carried out by ‘American mercenaries’ brought in to work for the 32-year-old crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who is now the kingdom’s most powerful figure,” the report said.

“They are beating them, torturing them, slapping them, insulting them. They want to break them down,” the source said.

The mercenaries are provided by the notorious former American military service contractor “Blackwater” which has changed its name to “Academi,” the report said.

Blackwater changed its name in 2009 after a group of its employees were convicted of committing torture, random killing and abuse of people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Both Academi and its parent company Constellis have denied any involvement in Saudi Arabia and said they do not engage in torture, a practice which is illegal for any US citizen in any part of the world.

On November 4, dozens of Saudi princes, ministers, and former ministers were detained on the orders of Saudi Arabia’s so-called Anti-Corruption Committee headed by the crown prince.

Former spy chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan as well as billionaire prince and the king’s nephew Waleed bin Talal are among the notable businessmen and royals incarcerated.

According to the source, Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) has also confiscated over $194 billion from the bank accounts and seized assets of those arrested.

DailyMail.com’s source said MBS initially invited bin Talal to a meeting at his Al Yamamah palace, then sent officers to arrest him the night before the meeting.

“Suddenly at 2.45am all his guards were disarmed, the royal guards of MBS storm in,” said the source. “He was dragged from his own bedroom in his pajamas, handcuffed, put in the back of an SUV, and interrogated like a criminal.”

“All the guards in charge are private security because MBS does not want Saudi officers there who have been saluting those detainees all their lives,” said the source. “Outside the hotels where they are being detained you see the armored vehicles of the Saudi special forces. But inside, it’s a private security company.”

“They have transferred all the guys from Abu Dhabi. Now they are in charge of everything,” said the source.

The source noted that even Mohammed Bin Salman himself conducts some of the interrogations as he is desperate to assert his authority through fear and seeks to uncover an alleged network of foreign officials who have taken bribes from Saudi princes.

“When it is something big he asks them questions,” the source said. “He speaks to them very nicely in the interrogation, and then he leaves the room, and the mercenaries go in. The prisoners are slapped, insulted, hung up, tortured.”

Blackwater’s name had previously been mentioned by Lebanese President Michel Aoun following the purge. He tweeted that Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, a Saudi-Lebanese citizen, was being detained in Riyadh by Blackwater guards, but he later deleted the tweet.

“Lebanese authorities have unconfirmed information that the Blackwater firm is guarding Hariri and his family, not official Saudi security forces,” Aoun had tweeted on November 15.

A high-profile Saudi whistleblower twitter account, @Ahdjadid also said King Salman has brought in at least 150 Blackwater guards.

“The first group of Blackwater mercenaries arrived in Saudi Arabia a week after the toppling of bin Nayef, Salman’s predecessor as crown prince,” the whistleblower tweeted. “They were around 150 people. Bin Salman sent some of them to secure bin Nayef’s place of detention and the rest he used for his own protection.”

Last week, the New York Times reported that Egypt’s former security chief during the Mubarak-era Habib el-Adly, who is notorious for his track record of brutality and use of torture, is reportedly serving as an advisor to Mohammed bin Salman.

Saudi Arabia’s ailing 81-year-old monarch has been reportedly suffering from partial dementia and is said to be contemplating an abdication in favor of his son.

Many political observers interpret the entire crackdown as a purge against dissent before the crown prince’s rise to power.

US, Israel using terrorism to weaken Mideast states for Israel's sake: Academic
The Israeli regime, backed by the United States, uses the issue of terrorism in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere in order to weaken regional countries and protect the Israeli regime, says an academic.

“The reason why the United States and the Israeli regime have attempted to weaken neighboring Arab countries whether it’s Syria or Iraq or Egypt is because they want to keep the region broken and fragmented in order to strengthen Israel,” Mohammad Marandi told Press TV on Thursday.

“Not only does the Israeli regime tolerate the ISIS (Daesh) but it helps al-Qaeda in its battle against the Syrian government” and “all of this is [meant] to keep the region weak” in order to help the Israeli regime continue its “colonization” attempt, the professor of the University of Tehran warned.

On Thursday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warned that the US and Israel may hatch a new plot against the Muslim world following the end of the reign of Daesh Takfiri terrorists in Iraq and Syria.

Unity to hinder resurgence of terrorism in Syria, Iraq: Journalist
Unity in Iraq and Syria requires more efforts on the part of both Syrian and Iraqi governments in order to secure the countries after the elimination of Daesh, Omar Nashabe told Press TV on Thursday.

It also requires a “sense of strong national identity” that would bring people together under one main objective that is to serve the interest of their nations, the journalist with the al-Akhbar newspaper said.

Nashabe also urged both Syria and Iraq to remove a “sense of sectarian tension” triggered by certain regional and international powers.

On Thursday, Iran’s military Chief of Staff General Mohammad Baqeri lauded the eradication of Daesh in Iraq and Syria, saying Iranian Armed Forces are fully ready to counter enemy plots and any attempts to create another similar terror outfit.

Syrian Army Seizes US, French Missiles Sent to Terrorists in Eastern Damascus
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army's anti-terrorism units discovered and seized a truck containing a large number of weapons and ammunition, including US and French missiles, dispatched to the terrorists in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus.

The cargo was sent from the Northern parts of Sweida province to the terrorists stationed in Eastern Damascus.

A military source said that the seized vehicle was carrying a large number of weapons, ammunition, US-made LAV missiles, the French Milan missiles, at least 3 Konkurs missiles, Czech-made 75-mm RPGs and Soviet-made 22-mm and 26-mm RPGs which were earlier sent from Jordan and supplied to the terrorist groups by the US and Saudi forces.

Meantime, the cargo included 3 air-to-air R60 missiles and it seems that the terrorists intended to make some changes to them to be used for attacking aerial targets from the ground.

In a relevant development on Wednesday, the Syrian army troops stormed the positions of two main terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta and pushed them back from more lands, killing a senior militant commander, field sources confirmed.

The sources said that the army men engaged in fierce clashes with Ahrar al-Sham and Faylaq al-Rahman in Vehicles Management Region in the town of Harasta in several flanks and inflicted major losses on the terrorists, retaking control over a number of regions.

A number of terrorists, including notorious field Commander Saleh Antar, were killed in the clashes, the sources added.

The army soldiers imposed full control over lost the positions in the Vehicles Management Region in Harasta after their recent advances in the region.

2017/11/22 ロシア・イラン・トルコ三カ国首脳会議で国民対話会議開催を決定

Putin, Erdogan & Rouhani agree on holding Syrian national dialogue congress in Sochi

An all-Syrian congress which will see wide representation of the country’s opposition is to be held in Sochi, Vladimir Putin said after talks with the Turkish and Iranian presidents, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani, who backed the idea.

“The presidents of Iran and Turkey supported the initiative to convene an all-Syrian forum-congress of the national dialogue in Syria. We agreed to hold this important event at the proper level and ensure the participation of representatives of different sectors of Syrian society,” Putin said after the talks in Sochi on Wednesday.

“We’ve tasked the Foreign Ministries, the representatives of special services and Defense Departments to work out the list of participants and the timing of the congress to be held here, in Sochi," the Russian president added.

The all-Syrian congress is aimed at “gathering delegates from various political parties, internal and external opposition, ethnic and confessional groups at the negotiating table,” Putin said.

Success on the battlefield has paved the way for a new stage of the peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis, the Russian leader added.

“In our common opinion, the success on the battlefield that brings closer the liberation of the whole of Syrian territory from the militants paves the way for a qualitatively new stage in the settlement of the crisis. I’m talking about the real prospects of achieving a long-term, comprehensive normalization in Syria, political adjustment in the post-conflict period,” Putin said.

The Russian president also said that he and his counterparts see the potential for a long-term, comprehensive political settlement in Syria. The talks in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi lasted two hours, with Putin saying that they were detailed and included all aspects of the Syrian settlement.

Putin said that he informed Erdogan and Rouhani about the results of his talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad, which took place in Sochi on Monday. He added that he told the Turkish and Iranian presidents about the “commitment of the Syrian leadership to the principles of peaceful settlement of the political crisis, its readiness to carry out constitutional reform and stage a free, UN-supervised election.”

Clues In That Mysterious Radioactive Cloud Point Toward Russia
The tiny nation of Denmark has just three stations for monitoring atmospheric radiation. Each week, scientists change out air filters in the detectors and take the used ones to a technical university near Copenhagen.

There, Sven Poul Nielsen and other researchers analyze the filters. They often snag small amounts of naturally occurring radioactivity, radon for example.

Then about a month ago, Nielsen was startled to find something far stranger: a radioactive isotope known as ruthenium-106.

Rosatom: No Incidents on Russian Nuclear Sites Which Could Lead to Ru-106 Spike
Rosatom has spoken out after the Russian Meteorology Agency report confirmed that a high level of ruthenium in athmosphere had been detected; it was reported earlier in October by the European monitoring agencies.

The Rosatom represtative has stated that there were "no incidents or accidents at nuclear facilities in Russia". The statement appeared just hours after the Russia's meteorological service (Rosgidromet) reported that it has detected the record levels of radiation in Russia's Ural regions and a radioactive cloud that drifted over Europe in early October.

The Mayak nuclear processing plant, located in the Urals, has also come out with a statement saying that "atmospheric pollution with ruthenium-106 that was found by Rosgidromet is not connected to the work of Mayak," since the work on the separation of ruthenium-106 from spent nuclear fuel (and the production of ionizing radiation sources on its basis) has not been carried out for many years at the facility.

Earlier, Rosgidromet confirmed that the the monitoring systems have detected an increase in the concentration of ruthenium over several parts of Russia. However, according to the press release, the concetration does not exceed the maximum permissible concetrations.

At the same time, the head of Rosgidromet said that the automatic monitoring system detected an increase in the concentration of Ru-106 not only in Russia, but also in neighboring countries such as Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine. According to him, the concentration in Romania was 1.5-2 times higher than the concentration in Russia.

The exact source of the spike, however, remains unknown, though IRSN suggested that the cause might be an accident.

Earlier, the French nuclear watchdog IRSN announced that several European monitoring networks have detected radioactive isotope ruthenium 106 in the atmosphere in France and several other European countries in September.

According to IRSN, "the most plausible zone of release" of this radioactive material "lies between the Volga and the Urals." The agency noted, however, that it is impossible to determine the exact point of release given the available data.

Also, the levels of ruthenium detected in European airspace posed no threat to human health or to the environment, IRSN added.

Moscow: Washington Uses Terror Groups in Syria for Its Own Goals
TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that the United States uses terror groups in Syria to achieve its own goals.

"There is information that the US uses extremist groups, which have to be isolated and destroyed, for its own goals, promoting its agenda despite the claims that the US is only working in Syria to eliminate terror groups," Lavrov stressed, TASS reported.

Lavrov has also reported about his upcoming contacts with the US State Department’s leadership to discuss the Syrian crisis.

"In the next couple of days, I will continue contacts with the State Department’s leadership, we will discuss all this (situation in Syria)," Lavrov told reporters.

According to the Russian foreign minister, Riyad Hijab’s resignation and the retreating of other radical opposition leaders to the background will help bring together the opponents of the Syrian government on a constructive basis.

While commenting on Riyad Hijab’s resignation as Chief Coordinator of the Syrian opposition’s High Negotiations Committee (HNC), Lavrov said he expected "the retreating of radical opposition leaders to the background to help the Syria-based and foreign-based opposition unite on a constructive basis."

"We will support Saudi Arabia’s efforts in this direction," the Russian top diplomat added.

According to Lavrov, Hijab’s resignation was long overdue.

"Those following the unification of the Syrian opposition, like our counterparts from Saudi Arabia, predicted this move," the Russian foreign minister said.

"We worked with Riyad Hijab after he had left Syria as the country’s prime minister and became a leader of the opposition forces. I held meetings with him, as well as my deputy. He was pulling the opposition in the wrong direction - not towards the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254, which has become the Bible of the Syrian settlement process, but towards ultimatums," Lavrov noted.

The major ultimatum, in Lavrov’s words, was based on a demand for Bashar al-Assad’s resignation as a condition for further talks.

"It is completely contrary to the UN Security Council resolution, which stipulates that only the Syrian people are eligible to decide the future of their country, while the issue should be resolved only through inclusive talks involving the government and the entire range of the opposition groups," the Russian top diplomat added.

Head of the Syrian opposition’s High Negotiations Committee Riyad Hijab announced his resignation on Monday night. Several other people also resigned from high ranking positions in the NHC. The move was made in the Saudi capital during a preparatory meeting ahead of the opposition conference, scheduled for November 22, at which a single opposition delegation to the next round of the Geneva talks on Syria is expected to be formed.

At the meeting, a significant debate arose over the opposition’s attitude to Bashar al-Assad and the possibility to include representatives of the so-called Moscow and Cairo groups in the delegation. Some opposition members insisted on Assad’s immediate resignation. At the same time, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Geneva office and other Geneva-based International Organizations Alexei Borodavkin said in an interview with Russia’s Izvestia daily that in order to ensure the success of the upcoming talks, the opposition should abandon its demand for Assad’s immediate resignation, support the setup of de-escalation zones and the fight against terrorism. Assad, in turn, said earlier that Damascus was committed to launching a political reform, which stipulated that a new draft constitution should be drawn up and parliamentary election should be held in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

The next round of the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva will begin on November 28.

Riyad Farid Hijab (Arabic: رياض فريد حجاب‎; born 1966) is a Syrian politician. He was Prime Minister of Syria from June to August 2012, serving under President Bashar al-Assad. From 2011 to 2012, he was Minister of Agriculture.

On 6 August 2012, the Syrian government released a statement saying that Hijab had been dismissed.[2] Shortly thereafter[3] a man describing himself as Hijab's spokesman and several news organizations stated he had resigned and defected to the rebel side in the Syrian civil war. Information minister Omran al-Zoub's later remarks about "the flight of some personalities" were interpreted by The Guardian as referring to Hijab.[4] Hijab is the highest-ranking defector from the Syrian government.[5]

Lebanon PM Hariri says resignation on hold pending talks

Lebanon PM Hariri says resignation on hold pending talks

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri says his resignation is on hold, following a request from President Michel Aoun to wait for more dialogue. Hariri says he is committed to working with the president.

In televised comments quoted by Reuters, Hariri said that he “presented my resignation to President Aoun today and he urged me to wait” for more dialogue. “I showed responsiveness to this hope.”

Hariri arrived back in Beirut earlier on Wednesday, following his surprise resignation two weeks ago. Hariri’s shock resignation, which took place while he was in Riyadh, prompted many to believe that he was forced to step down due to Saudi pressure, with the assumption that Lebanon had become caught up in the ongoing tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Aoun refused to accept Hariri's resignation until it is presented in person. Meanwhile, Hariri denied reports that Riyadh forced him to step down. He says the claims that Saudi Arabia was keeping him against his will are merely “rumors.”

Aoun, however, had been among those who believed Hariri was being “held captive” in Saudi Arabia in an “act of aggression” against Lebanon.

In his resignation speech, Hariri attacked Iran and Hezbollah for spurring conflict in Arab states, and said he feared assassination. This prompted Hezbollah’s leader to accuse Saudi Arabia of declaring war on the group and on Lebanon, claiming Riyadh detained Hariri and forced him to resign in order to destabilize the country.

Former Bosnian Serb commander Mladic sentenced to life by UN court

Former Bosnian Serb commander Mladic sentenced to life by UN court
A United Nations tribunal has convicted General Ratko Mladic on 10 out of 11 counts of crimes he was accused of committing during the Balkan Wars of the 1990s. Critics of the prosecution of crimes during the violent collapse of Yugoslavia question its fairness.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) handed down its verdict on Wednesday. The justices found Mladic guilty on most of the allegations dating back to the 1992-1995 war, including the massacre of Albanian men in Srebrenica. Mladic pleaded not guilty on all charges.

Presiding Judge Alphons Orie said the court found that Mladic’s actions during the war were “among the most heinous known to humankind” and amounted to genocide. The court sentenced the Serb to life in prison.

“I'm not surprised. The court was totally biased from the start,” Mladic's son Darko said after the verdict.

The conviction is likely to fuel resentment in Serbia that the international prosecution of crimes committed during the Balkan Wars was one-sided and failed to bring justice to victims of Albanians and Croats. Of the 161 individuals indicted by the ICTY, the body created specifically to prosecute wartime crimes, 94 are ethnic Serbs, compared to 29 Croats, nine Albanians and nine Bosniaks.

Only a handful of Serbs, including politician Milan Milutinovic, General Momcilo Perisic and Yugoslav army captain Miroslav Radic were acquitted by the tribunal, compared to well over a dozen defendants of other nationalities. The tribunal insists the statistics reflect the actual crimes committed during the hostilities.

The case of Mladic, 74, was the last for the ICTY to pass a verdict on. Among the crimes he was found guilty of were the killings of an estimated 8,000 Muslim males in the UN-designated safe zone in Srebrenica and the 43-month siege of the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, during which over 11,000 civilians are estimated to have been killed. Mladic’s defense team is expected to appeal the verdict, with his case joining some two dozen others pending new rulings.

US CH-53 chopper crashes in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan – media
A US Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion military helicopter has reportedly crashed in Takae village in the Kunigami district of Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture, according to local media.

No casualties have been reported so far, according to the Okinawa Times.

Local police have been sent to the scene to investigate the situation.

Japanese media published photos purportedly taken near the site of the crash, showing a blaze and a huge black plume of smoke.

The military helicopter, which is used for personnel transportation, belongs to Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, NHK report citing US military officials. The aircraft was reportedly lost in the vicinity of the northern training ground.

Japan hosts around 54,000 US military personnel, 42,000 dependents and 8,000 civilian employees of the Department of Defense, according to US Forces. They are dispersed among 85 facilities on Honshu, Kyushu, and Okinawa.

The presence of American military aircraft in Okinawa and accidents in the area involving them have sparked protests from the locals.

In August, Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera asked the US to temporarily stop flying the Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft in his country after a fatal crash off the coast of Australia. The accident involved a US Marines aircraft stationed at a base in Japan.

Following US assurances that the flights are safe, Japan's Defense Ministry announced that Osprey flights could continue.

Putin to Discuss Syrian Settlement with Trump, Middle East Leaders
TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold telephone consultations with US President Donald Trump and some Middle East leaders, he said during talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"On the basis of our today’s meeting, I will hold consultations with the leaders of the countries I already mentioned. Today a conversation is planned with the Qatar’s Emir, tomorrow with US President Donald Trump and then with the regional state leaders," Putin said, TASS reported.

The Russian leader reiterated that on November 22 he will meet with Turkish and Iranian Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani in Sochi.

"Apart from the named partners, as you know, we are actively working with other countries as well: Iraq, the US, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. We are constantly interacting with these partners," Putin noted.

‘We’re talking strongly about bringing peace to Syria’: Trump after hour-long phone call with Putin
The issue of Syria dominated the more than hour-long phone call between the Russian and American presidents. Putin briefed Trump of his recent meeting with Assad, and both leaders agreed on the importance of the UN-led Syrian peace process.

Putin told Trump that President Bashar Assad confirmed his commitment to political reforms in Syria, including constitutional amendments. Assad also supported the idea of holding presidential and parliamentary elections as part of a transitional political process during his Monday meeting with Putin in Sochi.

The Russian president informed his US counterpart of the forthcoming meeting between the leaders of Russia, Iran and Turkey aimed at finding ways to further normalize the situation in Syria while contributing to the political process in the Middle Eastern country. The trilateral talks are scheduled for Wednesday, November 22.

“Both the parties expressed satisfaction with the phone call, which was practical and informative,” a statement from the Kremlin reads.

The White House said Washington reaffirmed its support for the Joint Statement of the US and Russia issued at the APEC summit on November 11.

“We’re talking very strongly about bringing peace to Syria, very strongly about North Korea, and about Ukraine," Trump told journalists following the phone call with Putin.

The Russian president said a resolution of the Syrian political crisis must be based on the principles of preserving sovereignty, territorial integrity and the independence of Syria. Putin added that Russia has offered to host the Syrian Congress on National Dialogue in Sochi.

Putin again spoke of normalizing bilateral relations, especially when it comes to fighting terrorism. He added that cooperation between Russian and US security services could be of great practical significance. Trump supported Putin's ideas, the Kremlin said.

Putin and Trump agreed that the crisis around the Korean peninsula should be solved through diplomatic means, according to the Kremlin. While discussing the Iranian nuclear program, the Russian president restated Moscow's commitment to the full implementation of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JPCOA). He also called the agreement “an important factor of regional stability” that also contributes to the global nuclear non-proliferation regime.

Putin and Trump also touched on the terrorist threat and drug production in Afghanistan. Speaking about the situation in Eastern Ukraine, Putin once again underlined that there is no viable alternative other than the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements by all parties to the Ukrainian conflict.

Trump and Putin last spoke on the sidelines of the Vietnam APEC summit in mid-November. And even though there was no official meeting between the two leaders during the gathering, they still managed to hammer out a joint statement on Syria, in which they said the Syrian conflict “does not have a military solution.”

Trump later described his brief encounters with Putin during the summit as “good discussions.” He also slammed those who oppose US rapprochement with Russia, branding them “haters and fools.” He tweeted that “Russia can greatly help” the US in solving many pressing world issues.

Putin also held separate phone conversations with King Salman of Saudi Arabia, Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday. The discussions centered on the situation in Syria as well as a range of bilateral issues.

Next stop, Paris! The strange journey of Lebanon’s Saad Hariri

Saad Hariri looks tired, broken & possibly drugged. Look at the way he looks to the side during the interview & tell me this man has free will to not spew what Saudis are telling him.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Supreme Leader's top adviser for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati Warned of new plots by the supporters and sponsors of the ISIL terrorist group, and said that the new wave of destabilizing the Middle East is coming.

"They (US and other terrorists’ sponsors) have been talking about plans for redrawing the Middle East since a few years ago; their intention of creating a new Middle East was to disrupt borders and for doing that they needed to cause discord and weaken the resistance so that the Israeli regime would feel safe and secure; the plan was funded by Saudi Arabia and its mastermind was Israel,” Velayati explained.

He reiterated that the defeat of the ISIL will provoke the terrorists’ founders and sponsors to hatch new destabilizing plots in the Middle East.

In relevant remarks last Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi warned Riyadh against keeping up its rhetorical blame game against Iran and its divisive policies in the region a day after the Saudi foreign minister once again targeted Iran with a flurry of baseless accusations against the Islamic Republic.

Qassemi's remarks came after Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Jubeir said Thursday that the kingdom’s actions in the Middle East were a response to what he called “Iranian aggression.”

Is President Putin ill? He does not look so good on this pic of Assad hugging him? Or maybe it is the picture in a bad moment.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement announced that despite the US claims about fighting terrorism, it spared no effort to help Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) in the Syrian town of Albu Kamal.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah made the remarks in a televised address to the Lebanese nation in capital city of Beirut on Monday, presstv reported.

Nasrallah noted that recapturing Albu Kamal was a major victory over Daesh, because Albu Kamal was the last Syrian city occupied by Daesh.

“The US helped Daesh as much as it could in Albu Kamal short of directly engaging forces that fought to liberate the town from Daesh,” the Hezbollah leader noted.

Nasrallah went on to note that the US provided Daesh terrorists with full air cover in Albu Kamal.

The US sent its drones to Albu Kamal and provided Daesh with accurate information about what was going on, Nasrallah said, adding that American forces also waged electronic warfare against forces that were fighting to liberate Albu Kamal.

American forces also provided air transfer for Daesh commanders and facilitated their escape to Eastern shores of the Euphrates, he said.

The Hezbollah leader stated that even Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan slammed the US for helping Daesh.

Nasrallah emphasized that recapturing Albu Kamal led to unity of Syria and ended Daesh’s self-proclaimed state in the country.

Following recent victories in Iraq and Syria, he added, the military structure of Daesh collapsed in the two countries and Iraqi forces have reached the Syrian border.

Hezbollah leader noted that the victory over Daesh was victory of Islamic values over terrorists’ savagery.

Nasrallah also highlighted the role played by Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani in anti-terror operations in both Iraq and Syria.

He noted that Soleimani was commanding anti-Daesh operations in the two countries at the frontline and was never a commander to issue orders from behind the lines.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nasrallah referred to the latest meeting of the Arab League foreign ministers in Cairo, who designated the Lebanese Hezbollah as a terrorist group, saying that this was not the first time that such accusations were leveled against Hezbollah.

Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul Gheit announced at a press conference in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on Sunday that Arab states had agreed to designate Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement a “terrorist organization.”

The Arab League’s extraordinary general meeting on Sunday was held at the request of Saudi Arabia, which has assumed an aggressive stance against Hezbollah for its alleged links to Iran, Riyadh’s powerful rival in the region. Riyadh associates Hezbollah with Iran and has been trying to weaken the resistance movement, which is Lebanon's de facto deterrent force against Tel Aviv.

In its concluding resolution, the Arab League announced that Arab foreign ministers, excluding those of Lebanon and Iraq, would hold Hezbollah responsible for supporting “terrorist groups” across the region.

Nasrallah said the Arab League statement has labeled Hezbollah’s council, which is part of the Lebanon’s government, as a terrorist outfit, alleging that it provides missiles to terrorist groups in the region.

He added that accusations about Hezbollah sending missiles to regional countries were false and undocumented, emphasizing that the group has never sent any missiles or even light weapons to Kuwait, Yemen, Iraq or Bahrain or any other country in the region.

The leader of Hezbollah went on to say that the Arab League has warned Lebanon that if Hezbollah is not disarmed, security of the country would be in jeopardy.

Hezbollah rejected the accusation, noting that the main threat to security of Lebanon was the Zionist regime of Israel.

He stressed that the resistance front’s weapons were the main factor restoring security and stability to Lebanon, because they were used for defensive purposes in the face of the Israeli aggression.

Nasrallah emphasized that Hezbollah’s weapons were used only against terrorist groups such as Daesh and posed no threat to security of Lebanon.

Nasrallah stated that the main reason behind the recent Arab League meeting was not to discuss the issue of Palestine or other problems facing the Islamic world, but its main reason was the recent missile attack against a Saudi airport near the country’s capital, Riyadh.

Refusing Saudi Arabia and Arab League’s claims that the missile was provided to Yemeni Ansarullah fighters by Iran or the Lebanese Hezbollah, Nasrallah said Iran or Hezbollah had not sent any missiles to Yemen and Yemeni forces made their own missiles in the country.

He categorically rejected Arab League’s claims in this regard, noting that Saudi Arabia and its allies must admit that they have been defeated by Yemeni forces in their war of aggression against the country.

Nasrallah emphasized that Arab countries must put an immediate end to their support for terror groups, and do not fill the Middle East region with such outfits.

He reiterated that no member of Hezbollah was involved in the November 5 Yemeni missile strike against King Khalid International Airport of Riyadh.

The Hezbollah leader then took the Arab League to task for failing to address Saudi Arabia’s devastating aerial bombardment of the “Arab country of Yemen,” saying, “Saudi Arabia is bombing Yemeni people day and night.”

Strongly denouncing the Riyadh regime over perpetrating outrageous atrocities against millions of “Arab Muslims” in Yemen, Nasrallah lashed out at the Arab world’s “deafening silence” over the grim situation in Yemen.

“The turmoil we are witnessing in the Arab world is a cover for the announcement of normalization of relations with Israel,” he commented.

Nasrallah then called on Arabs to do their best to maintain their national unity in the face of all divisive efforts.

The Hezbollah secretary general also praised Lebanese officials and politicians for their firm stance regarding Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s shock resignation, calling on him to return to Lebanon as soon as possible.
