Japan has never stopped fabricating, exaggerating, and playing up all kinds of threats

China accuses Japan of ‘exaggerating’ threats amid record $48bn defense budget request
China has accused Tokyo of “exaggerating” the threats it faces, urging it to explain its “true intentions” behind boosting military spending on the same day as the Japanese Defense Ministry requested a record $48 billion defense budget.

“Japan’s national defense budget has been rising for years indeed, and has reached a record high. We are concerned about that,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said during a Thursday press briefing, when asked whether Beijing is concerned that North Korea is contributing to an arms buildup in the region.

“In recent years, Japan has never stopped fabricating, exaggerating, and playing up all kinds of threats it faces. In the meantime, it has been expanding its national defense budget, upgrading its military arsenal, and taking steps to implement the new security bill.

“All countries should be on high alert as to what Japan has done and its real motives. We believe that Japan should honestly explain its real motives to the international community,” Hua said.

She urged Japan to “exercise caution in the military and security field,” saying she hopes Tokyo can “learn from history.”

Hua’s comments came just hours after Japanese media reported that the country’s defense ministry was seeking 5.26-trillion yen (US$48 billion) to boost its missile defense capabilities.

As part of the budget plan, Tokyo aims to purchase a land-based anti-missile system known as Aegis Ashore, according to The Japan Times. It is also considering an option of the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), according to AP.

Other purchases would include a SM-3 Block IIA interceptor missile, which the defense ministry says will boost Japan’s defense capabilities and improve its ability to shoot down a ballistic missile launched into space on a steep “lofted” trajectory.

An upgraded version of the current Patriot Advanced Capability-3 anti-missile system would also be bought, allowing for greater ability to down cruise missiles and jets.

Terrorists in Syria Receive European Armored Vehicles
TEHRAN (FNA)- The US-backed terrorists in Syria have received EU-made armored vehicles, news sources reported on Thursday.

According to the Arabic website of Sputnik news agency, the militant groups in Syria have received the OT-64 , an armored personnel carrier (8x8), developed jointly by Poland and Czechoslovakia (CSSR).

It added that the vehicle was used by the member armies of Warsaw Treaty and have been brought from the military depots in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.

Experts believe that the vehicles have been brought to Syria to help the terrorists resist against the Syrian army's armored vehicles, including BTR-80, Vodnik and BMP-1.

A diplomatic source said in July that Russia gathered incontestable evidence proving the use of foreign weapons and ammunition by terrorist groups in Syria.

"Russian officers of the Center for Syrian Reconciliation registered on Saturday 48 mortar shelling of the Al-Qabas quarter from the positions of illegal armed formations in Ein Tarma and Jobar," the source said.

"Moreover, they gathered incontestable evidence proving that terrorists use foreign weapons and ammunition − took photos of shatters of the shells produced abroad with serial numbers," the source added.

Syria has been mired in bloody war since March2011, with Damascus forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad fighting tens of terrorist groups.

US targets ISIS convoy that agreed to leave Lebanon under Hezbollah deal
The US-led coalition said it has bombed ISIS vehicles on their way to join a convoy of other ISIS members traveling from the Syria-Lebanon border towards Iraq under a deal brokered by Hezbollah, adding that it will not allow the terrorists to escape.

Coalition aircraft have struck "vehicles containing Islamic State fighters" that were moving towards the convoy's location, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Colonel Ryan Dillon said in a statement on Wednesday.

“We are not party to any agreements that were made by the Lebanese Hezbollah and ISIS or the (Syrian) regime,” Dillon told AP.

Earlier, the coalition bombed a bridge and the road in the convoy's path to prevent it from reaching the area held by IS (also known as ISIS/ISIL) in eastern Syria.

Any strikes "will be in accordance with the law of armed conflict," Dillon said.

The government in Damascus has repeatedly called coalition operations in Syria, carried out without its consent, a violation of Syrian sovereignty.

Hezbollah – a Shia Muslim political and military organization in Lebanon which the US has designated a terrorist organization – had brokered an agreement with IS militants, giving them a safe passage from an enclave on the Syrian border with Lebanon to IS-held territory near the border between Syria and Iraq.

The convoy carries 308 militants and 331 civilians, according to Hezbollah.

“Irreconcilable ISIS terrorists should be killed on the battlefield, not bused across Syria to the Iraqi border without Iraq’s consent,” tweeted US Special Envoy for Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, Brett McGurk, who also spoke for the coalition’s efforts under the Obama administration.

“Our coalition will help ensure that these terrorists can never enter Iraq or escape from what remains of their dwindling “caliphate,” McGurk added.

Several critics have responded to the official’s tweets, noting that US-backed Syrian fighters gave IS terrorists a safe passage out of the city of Manbij last year.

“The agreement to let the Islamic State militants escape likely saved hundreds of civilians held by the fanatical fighters, even though it allowed some Islamic State militants to escape,” USA Today cited a senior US defense official last August.

The Trump administration, however, said it changed its tactics in the fight against the terrorist group.

“[Trump] directed a tactical shift from shoving ISIS out of safe locations in an attrition fight to surrounding the enemy in their strongholds so we can annihilate ISIS,” Defense Secretary James Mattis said in May.

He explained that by “taking the time up front to surround these locations, instead of simply shoving them from one to another” coalition forces are able to “carry out the annihilation campaign so we don’t simply transplant this problem from one location to another.”

No Target Is Off-Limits: Why Is US Killing Entire Families in Syria Evacuation Program?
TEHRAN (FNA)- According to US Central Command (Centcom), US warplanes have attacked a major east-west highway in Syria, to prevent a Red Crescent-led evacuation program which is taking ISIL fighters and civilians out of the Syria-Lebanon border area to Deir Ezzur under a ceasefire deal with Syrian government and Hezbollah.

After ISIL lost all of its territory in the border region, they negotiated an evacuation deal with the allied forces involved. The US, however, insists that it is not a party to the deal, and feels justified attacking the highway to stop the convoy as a result. The buses are said to contain militants, their families and civilians. The US insists on all of them being killed instead of delivered to Deir Ezzur.

The convoy is now effectively stuck smack in the middle of Syria, with no easy way to move on to their intended destination. Centcom Spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon insists the convoy is still being monitored, and that the US would not rule out attacking the buses in the future if they believe it’s appropriate to do so. Dillon goes on to slam Russia, who appears wholly uninvolved with this whole evacuation process. He says the fact that Russia doesn’t actively prevent the convoy from leaving proves they aren’t serious about fighting ISIL. Actually. It’s the other way around:

- The War Party in Washington is not happy with the way things have turned out in its regime-change program in Syria. Its terror proxy forces were supposed to depose the government but now just want to get out of the conflict zones while they can – saving themselves and their unfortunate families.

- One way or another, peace will prevail. After that the world will find out how the US and company aided and abetted various terrorist groups in the war-ravaged country – when they talk to the cameras. ISIL and other terror proxy forces have either been killed or surrendered territories. Their remaining fighters, along with families and civilians are now being evacuated into the Deir Ezzur province.

- For many reasons, US officials are expressing outrage at the deal, and indeed at the notion of any deal. This is not because as US Special Envoy Brett McGurk demands, “All of the ISIL fighters should be killed on the battlefield, and that busing is inappropriate for them.” The US wants them to stay and terrorize. This way they can continue the profitable war of attrition against Syria and its allies Iran, Russia and Hezbollah. It gives US perfect excuses to occupy Syria, bash Iran, and sell new weaponry to regional client states, mainly Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

- The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of those who have won the war. The allied forces of Iran, Syria, Russia and Hezbollah have won the war. The evacuation program is not intended to give a new breather to the terrorist groups. The whole idea is based on humanitarian grounds and giving them the chance to change course. There is still room in Syria for those who regret being part of a foreign-backed regime-change war. If they lay down arms and surrender, they and their families can have the chance to live in post-ISIL Syria.

Where this leaves the evacuation program is unclear, as the US seems to be holding out for the massacre of ISIL fighters, their families and civilians on the buses, and has threatened to attack the buses if they try to find a new route around the giant hole US warplanes have created in the highway they are traveling on. But one thing is certain:

The United States is killing entire families in Syria, and enabling Saudi Arabia to do the same in Yemen. In the first week of fighting in Raqqa, UN war crimes investigators warned that the US had already killed 300 civilians from air strikes alone. Rather than heed that warning, the US has continued the same strategy of pounding Raqqa into the ground despite the likelihood of civilian casualties. Not to mention that President Trump has relaxed the rules surrounding air strikes earlier this year, meaning military generals on the ground can call in airstrikes from the ground with zero oversight.

The result is that entire families, and not just ISIL families, are being massacred by US-led air strikes almost everywhere. The scale of things could increase significantly, if the War Party tries and derails the ongoing evacuation program. The program has come to the fore because America’s remaining terror proxies are not willing to fight to the death. There are very few die-hard ISIL supporters, and there are many witnesses and activists who have reported incidents of widespread civilian deaths at the hands of US air strikes.

This makes it incredibly difficult to believe that Washington is taking the utmost care to protect civilians in Syria. At a time when Amnesty International and human rights groups release evidence condemning the US for killing civilians in an indiscriminate fashion, are we just supposed to take their word for it?

As horrifying as the terror being inflicted on Syria is, what is occurring right now is not taking place in isolation. The US is delivering this disturbing criminality all over the region. In Yemen, the Saudi-led coalition, which is armed, trained, and protected by the US and the UK, is doing the exact same thing. These kinds of attacks seem to be occurring daily, and no target is off-limits for the war criminals - even their own terror proxies and entire families.

Syrian rebel defector says his US-trained unit sold arms to ISIS
Not only were the US-backed ‘moderate’ militants in southern Syria never meant to fight ISIS, but their commanders actually traded US-made weapons and ammunition to terrorists, a rebel defector claimed in an interview with Rossiya-24.

Asaad As-Salem says he defected from the US-backed Maghawir al-Thawra group stationed at the At-Tanf base in southern Syria, and surrendered to Syrian government forces. Along with a number of other militants and their families, they escaped At-Tanf and currently reside in a refugee camp near Damascus.

The former militant told Rossiya-24 correspondent Eugeniy Poddubny that he served as a chief security officer at the base, and that he and his men joined the US-backed rebel group to fight Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists.

Their US and Norwegian instructors, stationed at the base, taught the militants to fire US-made weapons, trained mortar squads and conducted courses on accident-free driving on the battlefield.

The reality, however, differed from the proclaimed goal of fighting terrorists, as the unit has never seen action against IS and its commander actually traded the US-supplied weapons with the terrorists – all while the American instructors, deployed at the base, turned a blind eye, the former militant claimed.

“When we learned that our unit’s leader was selling weapons to ISIS terrorists, we reported that to American base command, but following our report no action has been taken, the Americans only ramped up the support to the man who was appointed our commander and who was dealing with ISIS,” As-Salem said.

“And he was selling all sorts of weapons our unit possessed, US-made small arms, M-16 and M-4 rifles, recoilless rifles, various machine guns and ammunition for them.”

The areas controlled by the US-backed militants along the Syrian-Jordanian border were cut off from IS-held regions by Syrian government forces and its allies in June, rendering their declared goal of “fighting terrorism” entirely obsolete.

The US, the former militant believes, never actually intended to battle IS in the south of Syria, but wanted to create and expand its influence. He said the US advisors supported only those who can be used to fulfill their own goals, showing no interest in helping civilians.

“There’s no support for the local populace, the Americans are not interested in anything except pursuing their own goals. There’s a refugee camp, Rukhban, for example, located some 20 kilometers from the American military base…” As-Salem told Rossiya-24.

“Some of the people residing in the camp are relatives of those militants, collaborating with Americans, while the others are civilians from At-Tanf. There are no suitable living conditions there, children have nowhere to study, there’s no healthcare, the Americans support only those people who they use to pursue their own goals. All in all, I’ll tell you, they behave like invaders.”

Although the militant’s claims cannot be independently verified, US special forces have indeed, since last year, been based at At-Tanf, located at a strategic Syrian highway border crossing with Iraq.

While the US-led coalition claimed the base was used to fight against Islamic State – they have, on several occasions, opened fire on Syrian government forces approaching the area.

Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a news briefing Thursday that the information obtained by the Rossia-24 correspondents should be thoroughly examined by international organizations.

“Certainly those materials need thorough examination by competent organizations, including international organizations. These materials tell us that the American coalition, the so-called coalition, does not what was proclaimed, i.e. not fighting terrorists in the southern Syria, but pursues its own goals,” Zakharova said.

“One of the goals is creation of their own sphere of influence in the country, exhausted in the fight against terrorism. In order to achieve that, according to witness reports, various means are being used, including direct transfer of foreign-made weapons to militants, as it happened at the At-Tanf base in the south of the country,” she added.

The information revealed by the rebel defector should not be surprising, as covert and overt support for various rebels worldwide is a usual practice by the US, political commentator and journalist John Wight believes.

And it explains the nature of the US airstrikes on the Syrian government and allied forces.

“It adds an extra and murkier dimension to US airstrikes, that were conducted against pro-Syrian government forces as they approached At-Tanf back in June this year, suggesting that rather than motivated by a desire to protect so-called moderate rebels that the US was supporting at the time, they were carried out with the desire to conceal the activities that are being described by this Syrian rebel defector regarding providing arms to ISIS and other Salafist jihadi groups,” Wight told RT.

The reportedly dire conditions in the refugee camps controlled by the US-backed rebels are not surprising as well, since “the US is not really interested in welfare of the Syrian people,” Wight said.

“I can tell they have never been interested in the welfare of the Syrian people,” Wight told RT. “The Syrian people have been used as a proxy and as a justification for the US presence in Syria with its own hegemonic agenda in mind.”

The US and Russia have agreed on zones of operation around the Euphrates river in Syria, where different forces are going after ISIS, according to the outgoing commander of the US-led coalition fighting the terrorist group.

“We have lines that are agreed to,” General Stephen Townsend, commander of Operation Inherent Resolve, said during a news conference on Thursday. It was Townsend’s last briefing from Baghdad, as he prepared to hand over command to General Paul Funk of the 3rd Armored Corps.

“We’ve established some measures south of Raqqa. Those measures extend to the east,” he said when asked about the “deconfliction” between US-backed forces and Russian-backed Syrian government troops in the middle Euphrates River Valley (MERV).

The measures “have held since mid-June, and we haven’t had friction,” Townsend stated, adding that discussions were held on Wednesday to make sure the forces didn’t trip over each other as they advanced on Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group .

In June, the US-led coalition shot down a Syrian military jet, claiming it dropped bombs near US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Syrian military said it was targeting IS terrorists.

Following the incident, the Russian Defense Ministry said warplanes from the US-led coalition operating over Syrian government-controlled areas west of the Euphrates River would be tracked as potential targets.

ISIS convoy

Townsend also told reporters that the US had hit “every ISIS fighter and vehicle” that tried to approach a convoy in Syria which was headed towards IS-held territory near the Iraqi border this week.

More than 300 IS fighters and about 300 family members were evacuated from Syria’s western border with Lebanon, under a surrender agreement brokered by the Lebanese Shi’ite group Hezbollah, which the US considers a terrorist organization.

“We didn’t make a deal with ISIS,” Townsend said. “When we see ISIS coming out of their holes and making themselves a target, we’ll take advantage of that.” So far, the coalition has not hit the convoy itself, the general added.

While acknowledging that US-backed Syrian fighters did make similar arrangements for IS terrorists to evacuate from the city of Manbij last year, Townsend pointed out that the US “slaughtered” a convoy of IS fighters who tried to leave Fallujah, Iraq, last June.

Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who had called the departure of IS terrorists from the area near Lebanon border “a day of liberation,” said on Thursday that Syrian President Bashar Assad had only reluctantly agreed to allow the evacuation of the IS terrorists through Syria, after Nasrallah visited Damascus to request it, according to Reuters.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, however, said it was “unacceptable” to ferry more jihadist fighters from another battlefront in Syria to the edge of Iraqi territory.

US Special Envoy for Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, Brett McGurk echoed that position on Wednesday.

The Pentagon said the coalition’s goal is to annihilate IS.

Baghdadi alive?

The infamous IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is likely alive and hiding in the Middle Euphrates River Valley between Iraq and Syria, Townsend said.

“That’s just an educated guess, made after doing this for a year and scratching off the list [of places al-Baghdadi has not been found]; he’s not in Mosul, he is not in Tal Afar, he is not in Raqqa.”

Townsend explained there were “indicators in intelligence” that Baghdadi is alive and that coalition forces were looking for him.

In June, the Russian Defense Ministry said Baghdadi had been likely killed as a result of a Russian strike on Raqqa in late May, adding that it was in the process of confirming the information.

Baghdadi appeared in the media for the first time in 2014, when he declared the creation of a “caliphate” in the Middle East. Numerous reports about his death since have never been confirmed.

A Popular Japanese Cosmetic Surgeon Is Called Out for Admiring Nazism
A prominent Japanese cosmetic surgeon has earned the condemnation of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a US-based Jewish human rights organization, after a blogger translated a series of his pro-Nazi tweets into English.

Dr. Takasu Katsuya has apparently been tweeting his admiration for the Nazis in Japanese since at least 2015. Despite this, he remains a popular, if controversial media presence in Japan, regularly appearing on prime television programs and wildly popular commercials for his business.

Reportedly a billionaire, Takasu, 72, has gained renown in Japan and throughout the world for his innovative approach to cosmetic surgery. After opening his first cosmetic surgery practice in 1976, he steadily grew a chain of clinics across Japan, while introducing liposuction to the country and patenting new techniques such as pubic hair transplants and armpit gland treatments. Takasu is a member of several prominent Japanese medical associations, as well as the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Takasu is also known for making outrageous statements, as well as for his public feuds. In late August 2017, Takasu's decision to take Onishi Kensuke, a member of Japan's opposition Democratic Party, to court for defamation made headlines.
